I don't really get the complaints about lack of a console version- if they ported FF7 to PS4, it's hard to believe they won't also do 8 and (now that it's getting a PC version) 9. They just don't want to announce it until later due to the fact that for whatever reason they're not doing it day-and-date with PC/mobile and don't want to hurt their day one sales due to people who want to wait for the confirmed console port.

Which is actually kind of weird when you think about it, considering that the Japanese industry's pattern has mostly been the other way around- announce it only for consoles even if you've already decided it'll be on PC, then confirm the PC port after you've gotten most of the sales you're going to get out of the console version.

Zidane was refreshing, the team could count on him and how positive he was ,instead of bitching everysingle moment like Cloud and Squall did for example.

I'll grant you that he was more likable, but I don't think he was very interesting. Part of it is because not that much bad ever happens to him, except for one time. The whole game is him just going along, being very aloof all the time, just doing and saying normal RPG protagonist things, with not much back story.

Since IX is getting a HD port now, it would be nice if Square Enix would give DeNA some HD screens of VII, VIII, and IX to use as background images in Record Keeper. The low-res images they use for those games are really bad looking.

Be it psn or Google play store in half a decade.

We've already seen how Sony feels about BC. Google's backwards compatibility is quite hit and miss (many apps designed for Gingerbread and earlier no longer work without updates that they may or may not receive) and who knows how it'll be in 5 years, let alone 10.

And Apple... well... their track record is currently atrocious, with every major update to iOS they break things.

Surprised this was announced for mobile before VIII did. Unless I missed an announcement of VIII on mobile.

Maybe they're mixing it up a little to give IX a chance, for once. The original was released very late in the PS1's life when everyone's attention was moving to the PS2, and then it never had an Eidos-published PC release back then unlike VII and VIII.

Yeah well how about you don't use ps1 resolution for comparison with FF9's remaster.

FF9 also had terrible jaggies and flickering models on psone.

I think the graphics preference mostly comes down to the style. Those who don't like SD characters hate FF9's graphics.

FF9 is overall much more detailed though, richer backgrounds, better character textures.

That being said, animation wise, 8 had some outstanding work done to it. That 9 did not equal.

Awesome news. FF9 is easily my favourite Final Fantasy game. Great writing, great characters, amazing OST. Will definitely take the opportunity to replay it with the new features. Hopefully loading times in/out of battles are quicker.

Prerendeered background games look super weird when the 3d characters are really hi res/high IQ. Blends much better when the resolution of the background and characters are the same.

yeah that's why i usually play those older prerender background games in low res, just go crazy with anti-aliasing and at least they blend together nicely, a lot of people probably don't agree with me though
