Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

I have some life advice for you: stay away from konami

Here, I fixed that for you
='(

I wish sega did a sale on diva 2nd dlc. Bunch of songs are from older games but I really wanted to check how they were remade.

Wish they brought more otetsu songs too

The rhythm game team at Konami are seemingly quite separate from the ridiculous mismanagement elsewhere and honestly don't deserve to be lumped in with the ill will the rest of the company earned.

The song club is already such a ridiculous bargain, especially compared to how much you had to pay in Japan (where no season pass existed at all), that I really don't see it ever being discounted further.

OK then, before I buy the Song Club... does it include all the modules associated with the songs? I would like to know.

Nope, not unless the module was already in the base game (magnet's associated modules, for example, are already in the game).

Kind of annoying tbh, so I just set whatever seems to fit.

That's annoying as hell... I'll continue to hold off until I have a game drought then.

I just bought the song club for Project Diva F 2nd last week... was anyone else kind of disappointed that there weren't any more difficult songs? Like, isn't the DLC exactly where you want to put all of the most difficult tracks for the dedicated players?

I should have looked up the song difficulties before I bought it, and I'm not upset per se, just disappointed. The diva games are becoming a bit too easy for me, since I don't really enjoy going for increasingly high clear percentages.

I gladly paid for the Song Club because I'm a total slut for this series, but I kinda agree. All the DLC was way too easy. None of it took me more than three tries to perfect on Extreme, including Rolling Girl.

You're paying a lot more per song than you do when you buy the base game, so regardless of how expensive it is in Japan, I don't think I'd call it a "bargain".

That's why I held off on buying it for so long, despite absolutely loving the Project Diva games.

The song DLC itself is already significantly cheaper than in Japan, and the Song Club reduces that price even further. It adds up to quite a bit, but on the whole it's actually a pretty good deal.

Why would it be annoying? That's why there's a Costume Club.

And if you love the music, why would you not buy the music? That's the point of a music game, isn't it?

Well its not that really, I just don't have any money at all until next year XD (Fates Special Edition cost really gonna hit hard)

I remember buying ever single piece of DLC from the Japanese PSN for Diva F and F 2nd saying to myself that I will only do this once per Diva release. So when I supported the western releases for these title, I found myself really tempted to do it again because the items were not sold a piece at a time and all the content is being sold at discount price, too. The western "Club" releases of all that DLC really is a nice deal.

Gave the extra difficulties in Miracle Girls a check

Ura Play is the strictest. You start with a maxed out Miracle meter and lose some if you hit a safe or worst

I scored an Excellent at 284% with 3 safes, one more would have gotten me a Great

Expand play has tiny notes increase in size as they approach the target

Full length songs only have the regular Hard and Extreme difficulties

Miracle Girls Festival actually seems a lot cooler than I thought it would be. I still don't know if I should get it, though. The only songs I know are the Nyaruko themes.
Which are, to be fair, fantastic.

I'm personally going to pass on this title and just wait for the Diva X. Miracle Girls is a nice game, but I'm not even familiar with most of the shows and theme songs featured in the game. Aside from it being another vibrantly colorful Project Diva engine spin-off game, nothing else about it grabs my attention to import it. Besides that, I wouldn't even have the time to play it.

Now, if SEGA decided to make a sequel to K-ON! Houkago Live!!, that would be an instant pre-order.

Edit:
I'm right there with you on Nyaruko, Ludger.

I find the song list in PD F really weak. Many of them aren't memorable and catchy imo. Save your money for PD X import instead.

Really? I think F has probably the best tracklist in the series. World's End Dancehall and Sweet Devil alone are worth it.

X has Slow Motion and Amazing Dolce and whatever Mitchie M song they decide to grace us with, but the PVs look pretty dull now and Mrs. Pumpkin should never ever be put in any of these games.

I think F had the most fully-formed tracklist out of all the games to date - every song choice sounded deliberate, and not just out of obligation. At the time they still had the most wide open, diverse selection of popular songs to choose from.

Quite a few songs from Project Diva X sound more like "popular Vocaloid songs" rather than just "popular songs," period. Sometimes it feels like the games use up certifiable hit songs faster than producers can make them - so you start to see more original songs commissioned for the game, for one thing.

Oh Lord. About how much are we talking about? I'd like to not spend €70 or so on a new memory card. :|

After looking through my Japanaese PSN account, I counted 101 pieces of DLC for Project Diva F2nd. 16 of that number were songs. The rest of that figure is mostly made up of modules and theme frames. I purchased all this DLC as it was released between March 2014 to April 2015.

Looking back, I was nuts to buy every single piece of DLC for this game (and all the previous Project Diva title, for that matter). But I don't regret it. I will do it again when I import Project Diva X. But what terrifies me the most is the PS4 version of Project Arcade. Please prey for my soul and sanity (and my wallet).

The two season passes put together would set you back around €100. There's 16 songs and... a lot of costumes and UI skins. The songs in particular take up a lot of memory, some go beyond 100MB. Edit mode was also made into DLC for the Vita version, though it's free and only due to space constraints.

So, only the songs are about 2GB I guess? I think my memory card can still handle that, though it's quite a pain to constantly have to delete games to free up space. The Vita really needs a way to delete individual pieces of DLC, instead of only allowing you to delete everything at once.

In terms of file size, my Japanese version of Project DIVA f clocks in at 777mb. This includes any install data the game requests, the Toro and Kuro collaboration DLC (not available outside Japan), 34mb for Tell Your World, 394mb for the remaining extra songs (they are packaged separately in Japan because of promotion codes DIVA F included for f), and 1.5mb for the Family Mart module (not available outside Japan).

I can't get a good total of my F 2nd install for some reason (might have a dying memory card, huh) but DLC in F 2nd averages about 4mb per module, 50mb per song, and 2mb for UI skins. F 2nd's edit mode also requires a free 747mb PSN download if you want to use it.

I'm thinking about pre-ordering Project DIVA X, but im not sure if i should, or if i should just wait for a EU/NA release. What are the odds of this game making its way to europe this year?

It's a toss-up, really. They haven't said anything yet, so just hope F 2nd and Mirai DX didn't bomb. I'd personally love another western release with F 2nd's scope, but I fear that may have been a fluke.

I don't mean to brag since I'm really no good at the game, but 2D Dream Fever's difficulty is pretty thoroughly overrated. I can get results like this no problem.

Though that some people think Two-Sided Lovers is actually more difficult is pretty bizarre to me when I can semi-consistently get perfects on it.

I suck at rhythm games :(

I have an easier time getting perfects on 2D Dream Fever compared to Two-Sided Lovers. I don't understand why, either.

Just downloaded all the Song Club DLC (and two or three modules) and the total size is now 939 MB (on Vita). That's actually much less than I expected, so I should be able to keep it without many problems. :)
