Do people need to charge their phones while they're doing stuff like listening to music? Just charge it at night?
Spotify can eat up the battery fairly fast. Not to mention streaming videos.

Does it matter? It's nonsensical to start demanding people work around new limitations. At the end of the day these are lifestyle devices whose end goal is supposed to be making things as convenient and effortless as possible. It's silly for Apple to turn around and say "OK that thing you do every day in your phone, can't do it. Go do it somehow else. Compromise". Nobody plunks down hundreds for a new phone and then compromises.

What if, now stay with me, you want to use your phone during the day for music or whatever and your phone is already fairly depleted? As it is now, people are able to easily charge and play music. Why should that change?

3.5mm jack outputs are about more than just headphones, you have no idea just how many bands/acts turn up and hand me their bands intro, or the promoters "playlist" for the before/after show music on an iPhone. (Here's a clue, at least one a night, every night)

Not to mention the acts that have actually incorporated iOS apps into part of their actual set (Which I usually add to the mix via a chain going from 3.5mm jack to DI box, straight into a desk channel)

I'm not going to be adding bluetooth to my mixing desk any time soon, so I foresee fun and games ahead :p

I wonder if this will be the dumbass move that finally gets people to break out of the apple hypnosis or whatever they do to keep people buying their overpriced devices?

The lightning connector is a nightmare. So fragile and potentially can lead to failure of the phone/device easily.

"Yeah fuck these dumb knuckle dragging aux supporters lol they'll have to be dragged into the wireless future"

"Hope they fix the wireless future though cuz right now it fucking sucks"

Oh boy. You lose the convenience of aux output and have to buy an expensive proprietary adapter. You lucky iPhone users you. I don't get it.

Seems iphone6 will be my last. Well since the last update my phone is a pain in the ass anyway. Constantly bothering me about iCloud storage and updates and what not. Too bad, I've enjoyed my iPhones until now. Not sure what to get when the time comes.

Yay glad I got the 6s plus. I knew it would be a keeper. 2gb ram and headphone jack!

I use my headphone jack while my iphone is plugged in every single day at the office for hours on end, so if these rumors are true that's a complete deal breaker. I can't deal with shitty bluetooth headsets, I might as well be listening to AM radio.

We the customer have the power we simply need to vote with our wallet's... Unfortunately to many people just care about the brand etc and not function of a device.

Nexus line of phones is great, and the moto line from Motorola. Very good prices as well.

Apple is finally going wireless, but they're probably going to use some bullshit proprietary tech instead of BLE 4.0.

eh, if it forces the hand of wireless tech to get better i'm ok with this. if not...there are other phones on the market if i need to upgrade. not really fussed either way, at some point all tech needs to be made redundant to force new tech to evolve further.

Thank you for telling me how to use my phone.
I listen to music while working, I don't know what I was thinking charging my phone an hour or 2 before leaving work so I have enough battery by the end of the day.

Surprised to see how many people don't care about audio quality.

I'm guessing (hoping) that this is only half the story and Apple will release two IPhone 7 models like they did for 6. One with a headphone jack and the other without.

Not only that, why the hell would I want to use some shitty Bluetooth earphones for significantly worse audio quality.

Goodbye ATHM50's, guess you are useless now.

I just can't believe this shit.

I could maaaaybe see a situation where the iPhone 7 Plus retains the headphone jack while the iPhone 7 doesn't. Would match up well with rumors of the 7 Plus having a 256GB model, which would make sense if they expect you to store a ton of music on it.

But also, I don't expect that to be the case.

How you gonna talk about under $50 when that dude was talking about under $15
Fair point, I didn't remember how much they cost honestly but I knew they were under $50. I've had them for like 6 years. Looking on Amazon you can get wireless headphones for $20. Spend the extra $5 because technology.

1) How do they sell compared to my KSC-55s? (headphones are personal)
2) How do they feel compared to my KSC-55s? (headphones are personal)
3) On what planet is $50 the same as $11-$15?
4) On what planet is the inconvenience of recharging irrelevant?

And I've been robbed at gunpoint over (yes) an iPhone. I live in the inner city. Some of us live in a different world than all the more privileged people who give no fucks about anybody else (or the carbon footprint of products that use unneeded circuitry).

1) Why does how they sell have anything to do with what we're talking about, did you mean how do they sound? They sound better than any sub-$20 set of wired headphones I've ever put on my head if that's what you meant. I was actually given a pair of wired headphones that were around $40 and I prefer my wireless ones, sound and comfort wise. I'm not any kind of audio/aural expert by any means but I can tell the difference between a shitty pair of headphones and a good pair.

2) Go.. try some? Again as you pointed out, it's personal. I had the kind that wrap around the back of my head. I have big ears and they felt fine to me but again, as you rightly pointed out, it's personal preference. Maybe they'd fit your head better than mine, maybe they'd be worse.

I don't really understand the point of those two though because as you said it's completely subjective... I'm fairly certain you can find cheap wireless headphones that will sound fine and not hurt your ears though. Maybe not for $10-15 but easily for a small bit more. I mean, do you like ear buds? I personally hate them and I get the kind that's got a pad like the ones you posted, and the ones I have at home are the big cans that cover my entire ear. But that's the kind of thing that can affect price and sound, as we all know shrinking technology makes it more expensive. Honestly the only suggestion I can make is to try some on and see for yourself? When I got mine I just bought the ones that looked like my old wired pair, just... minus the wire. Personal preference, but I vastly, vastly prefer not being tethered to anything while I listen to music out and about or at the gym.

3) Covered above. I don't remember their price, just that they were[ B]under[/B] $50. A quick Amazon search for "bluetooth headphones" brought up a ton of results in the $20 area. No $20 isn't $15 but wireless also isn't wired. The main point that I was making is that buying some wireless headphones isn't some kind of like, panic sell your house apply for a loan situation like you seemed to be making it out to be when you said,

Apple is telling me to go fuck myself and to use something that makes zero sense to me.

Thats a pretty drastic over reaction and hyperbolic statement. I didn't think you wanted an exact match for $15 headphones, you said yourself you have $200 headphones at home so I was just going off of "cheap [wireless] headphones that are easily replaced if lost/damaged/stolen" when I replied.

I also don't think Apple is gonna tell anyone to fuck themselves. Just like when they switched from the 30-Pin connector to the Lighting cable, they made a dongle for compatibility. If it's not included in the box for the iPhone that finally gets rid of the jack you can just buy the dongle and you're done, keep using your wired headphones, problem solved. If Apple's is too expensive you and I both know that 3rd parties will bring out their own at cheaper prices. If it's honestly that big of an issue I'll buy you one when it happens. I'll probably have to buy at least one of them for myself since I like to use my cans with my phone when I'm at home.

4) This is the fucking stupidest complaint I keep hearing. Not entirely directed at you here but, just "Oh great ANOTHER thing I have to charge now" I keep hearing about stuff like smart watches and the remotes for Amazon/Apple/Google TVs. Oh boo fucking hoo go cry some more everyone. Cry into the pile of dead batteries that's accumulated from your non rechargeable devices. Christ Almighty this is just the dumbest irrelevant argument these days. It's 2016. The future of like, ALL tech is wireless with internal rechargeable batteries and it has been for the past five years - at least. Plug things in when you go to bed, they charge over night and are ready to use when you wake up. It's the biggest non-issue imaginable. [/rant]

Real answer: Do you own a cell phone? Because chances are if you do you plug it in every night when you go to bed. Wireless headphones don't even need to be charged every night. Plug them in once a week when you go to sleep and you will never have to worry about it. MAYBE if you listen to like 6-8 hours of music on them every day you'll need to charge them more frequently but

It honestly comes off as kind of bonkers to me that in the same post you talk about having been robbed at gunpoint (holy shit I'm sorry you had that happen to you yikes, I'm glad you're alright) but then complain about the "inconvenience" of needing to charge a pair of headphones once in a while. Like really? I'm imagining the scene in Wet Hot American Summer where Paul Rudd stomps and pouts around the mess hall but instead of picking up a plate and silverware he's going to plug in a second device to charge. I guess you and I just have different standards for what we deem an inconvenience because plugging something in at night is... super not a big deal to me.

Just buy a new car! Just buy! Buy! Buy!

Apple is really looking out for everyone and stimulating the economy with this move.

You can buy 5 buck bluetooth dongles that fit into the aux connector in your car and still have the convenience of charging your phone whilst listening to music streamed from your phone to your car.

How do you know that the iPhone 7 won't borrow the "wireless" charging from the Apple Watch, so your headphones go into the Lightning Port and the charger magnetically locks onto the back?

Or this!

If the only connector was USB-C I could swallow this as I could see other manufacturers slowly switching to USB-C.

Nobody other than Apple is going to switch to Lightning.

I don't want to listen to something that sounds like it came out of a Napster download at 120 kph from the 1990's.

Bluetooth audio quality is trash.

I have expensive headphones that would all but be useless with this piece of shit.

there will probably be a headphone jack adapter which would make your headphones not useless anymore no?

In the last 10 posts; is there an absolute reason that you would need to upgrade to the iPhone 7? If you need the 3.5mm port can't you just buy a phone that has it?
