The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

Seems a bit small, isn't it? Or maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me.

I may be wrong if your looking at just the area in orange, your under-estimating the map size.

I think the area around the white or grey outline will be map size at release. For those hoping for a witcher 3 size of map, your going to be disappointed as the division is based in a city, where I think the witches was based on a country size or continent size map....I may be wrong though.

I posted this earlier in this thread, but from someone who lives in NYC, this is a pretty decent sized area - considering the detail I've seen and all of the cross streets and infrastructure that it looks like they've spent considerable time replicating.

the Base of Operation they show kills me. Everytime I walk by that huge post office building it takes me like 10 minutes. 31st street goes on forever!

Just watched about 5 mins. Enemies seemed really dumb and don't seem to be using cover effectively. They are just running forward to get shot. That's not good.

I know this is way off topic but im starting to get the hype. Ive got some newegg credit to use and was going to preorder but was curious, how is their shipping for preorders? Release day like amazon or do they not ship until release day? Thanks.

What's the fucking sound (as in: sounds like two people fucking with flesh on flesh action) around 10:32?
It just keepd on going.

Maybe someone can explain this.....but wtf does rendering a video at 1440 and 60fps on a game that's capped at 30 and 1080p help with YouTube?

Youtube downsamples the bit rate of a streaming video based on what resolution the video's being played at. So, even though the original video is only 1080P, rendering at 1440P for Youtube will make the video look much clearer and crisper when viewers view it, due to the bit rate also going higher. The best way to see the difference is to take a video of a 1080P capped game that has the 1440P option and play it at 1080P. Then reload it as 1440P. You (should) notice a difference in quality. This is because that 1440P option is also a boost in the bitrate stream, not just resolution.

The frame rate is just because his capture card likely records at 60 FPS, so rendering any lower would cause occasional tearing and possibly knock the audio off sync at some point.

Rendering for streaming websites is a totally different animal than just recording/rendering for download use or personal viewing unfortunately. Just matching your source settings isn't enough to be able to give the best viewing experience.

So even just upping the render rate at 1080p won't do the trick......I will never understand YouTube lol. Site ruins everything

The only thing thats preventing me from pre-ordering this game is getting into groups. In destiny, I couldn't join any groups or do any raid stuff at all.

the main ?I could use some clarification..eventually..

1) how easy will it be get into a random group to do the dungeons or whatever they are called. Hoping I can just press a button and get into a random group.

EDIT: Deleted question 2

2 things I could use some clarification..eventually..

1) how easy will it be get into a random group to do the dungeons or whatever they are called. Hoping I can just press a button and get into a random group.

2) do you need to be in a group to do the dark zone (or whatever its called) to get loot.

You can matchmake for the story missions (the dungeon/strike equivalents), and possibly other content too, I think. In addition, they scale to group size, so even if you can't get a full group you can still run them just fine (or even run them solo if you want).

You can definitely enter the dark zone solo, but it doesn't scale to level/group size at all, being a shared multiplayer space (beyond what they've said about it having a separate max-level version for people at level cap).

So, obviously, things will be trickier if you're alone (although there are other people there, and you can work together to bring stuff down without explicitly grouping up), and obviously if you run into a group of rogue players when you're on your own (or vice-versa, if you're trying to go rogue on your own), it's probably not going to go well.

I'd say just preorder from Amazon or somewhere else you can easily cancel, and try out the beta.

Quick question, we can make different characters and give those characters different names right? It's not just one character per account or something like that?

Thanks of the Info. Was going to digitally pre-order on the Xbox One as I got 67 dollar credit on my account due to xbox rewards.

I've asked that question previously and it seems that you can have multiple characters per account. I have no source on that other than this thread.

I'm definitely going to run a level 10 Dark Zone twink on top of a full level character.

You're correct I had two characters on the same account in alpha.

So, uhm... where is this game?

Are people actually dumb enough to think that the final release version of games are going to look like a screen shot that very clearly surpasses the graphically capability of current gen consoles? Like, what's the point in getting up in arms about this every single time?

Pretty sure that's a screen grab from the initial video they showed

They are that is fully zoomed out, you are really fucking small compared to that map.

You still could go from one end of the dark zone to the other in under a minute.....it's not going take even close to the time to travel the map compared to real life. 10 minutes I'll say from the bottom to the top

Huh? I don't recall it being that small. I remember it taking ages just to get to a waypoint.

I admit, I wanted to go hurt some hipsters in Bushwick in this game.

Man, the more I think about it the more bummed out I am. No central park, no Brooklyn, no Queens...
What the fucking hell, Massive.

This game reminds me of Freedom Fighters, an awesome game most people have probably forgotten about. I just love the way that game controlled and just the general vibe of everything.

I am looking forward to The Division but that betrayal system doesn't sound good (especially for generic loot) and like all Ubisoft games then enemies will need a lot more variety so this shit doesn't get too stale too quick.

Freedom Fighters was the shit.

Is the area of the game mainly central NYC?

All those places you outlined will probably sold as DLC, which is hardly surprising in this day and age but still disheartening.

Maybe at that point its so watered down it becomes homeopathic!?

(Caveat - I have played lots of destiny and had an awesome time)

See, that's the thing about Destiny, the core moment to moment gunplay/gameplay in general is rather good. Just because The Division may have a competent story (or even one to begin with, Vanilla Destiny LOL) doesn't mean it'll continue to be fun to pick up. If the moment to moment gameplay isn't good, no matter of story or pvp etc can save it. But of course we'll all know very shortly either way with the beta.

Exactly.

Ive yet to find information about a common leveling/coop/playing with friends problem. How will the game deal with level differences, e.g. im level 12 and my friend is level 21? Can we still play together???

Hoping you can pre-download before the beta starts.

I have pre-ordered direct from the Xbox One store and the download (not including Hazmat Items) is only 106mb.

Also anyone that ordered direct receive a beta key?

From what I can gather yes, but not in Dark Zones as they are level restricted.

60fps also gives you a bump in bitrate, so that's why he uploaded at that.

If it is like Steam, you'll just get the Beta activated in your account. I have it in my steam library and did not get any key for it, just a separate entry to "The Division" called "The Division Beta"

I bet they'll announce more end game content this Friday.

Destiny all over again. People playing the beta hoping there's more content there, only to find the full game is exactly as expected.

I very much doubt they'll announce more end game content. They've been pushing that the Dark Zone is the end game stuff for quite a while now.

I fully expect the lack of end game 'hook'/content will be the game's downfall.
