Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

So did he really have the game or was it the pc hacked beta? And is no one else irritated that this might, and again I say MIGHT, show some sort of "we'll give you the game early" white list in the fgc?

I'm bored of LoL and ready to pick up a pitch fork if so. Also, I just realized since I don't live in LA anymore I cant go to a certain store to pick it up early.

I don't know I didn't get a good look at the video and when I tried again it wasn't there...but the logic is that there was a round counter ...which was only there during online and they appeared to be playing locally...

As far as the whitelist it was pointed out by another poster that it most likely would be for balancing and feed back..and who else really to do that other than top players.

Personally I think a story mode would be terrible on Street Fighter. Street Fighter doesn't have the cool environments, lore and cheesiness like MK does with Netherrealm enemies, Earthrealm defenders and erc. It would likely be boring and ruin characters. I prefer endings and stills as well as Rival fights and fill out the rest in my imagination by piecing the ending, rival scenes and biographies together.

I would prefer something like World Tour mode with a bit of story, or that mode in Soul Blade with unique challenges and trials that make you learn the characters and game system as you progress.

strongly disagree.

First post here so hopefully this goes well.

SF can have a Story Mode and still work without it being similar to MK9/X's. You can even have the cheesy ending with Ryu being the only one who can defeat the final boss in a very cliche way and still be great. You don't even have to have all the scenes of MK or even the amazing CG of Tekken and still work. They can even do similarly to how they're doing in the Udon comics and be fine. They could even go beyond that and also add in more fight introductions similar to the Alpha series and be well. All it has to be is good. As long as it's good then it'll work. It has to keep the players invested into the story. We don't want to spend 5 minutes in-between fights paying attention to something we're not invested in. I don't know about anyone else but for most of MKX's story was in invested. Sure, there were some boring parts and some parts that didn't fly but most of it I didn't mind that I wasn't in a fight. That's the main issue.

Capcom? We'll see how they plan on doing it but it's not going to be easy. If it doesn't work then it doesn't work but either way, my entire of a Story Mode isn't picking a character, going through 10 fights and in the middle of each fight there's some text exchange. At the same time this is SF so gameplay always comes first. If there's story? It just makes the overall package more accessible.

That's just me personally. I've always enjoyed the story aspect of fighters. That's one reason why I love the Tekken and MK lore. Competition, online, that stuff is always great but I don't always want to be online facing somebody. I want to beat Arcade and gain endings, I want to beat Story and see the story of said title. I love the side mini-games such as Tekken Force mode. I love MK's Krypt (well in previous titles such as DA/D). That's always been fun.

And with that said, that's the main reason why I personally dislikes MvC3 but that's another story. Basically I'll say that I'm a fighting game fan, love them but I'd rather have a "full package" rather than everything being focused on just the competition aspect but that's just me. Everyone has an opinion.

Couldn't disagree more. Again, we're talking about a series that has spawned movies, animes, and several comic book series.

That's just personal bias right there.

Well we'll never know that if they don't explore it in a story mode. And I disagree they have a ton of ideas and lore they can work off of/expand on but it's clear that isn't there focus with SFV. Which is whatever at this point.

I really don't care if SFV's story is fully 3D animated or not. I just want to learn more about the characters and see them interact. If its 2D animated with hand drawn stills, then its fine. Its all about priorities with the budget and if Capcom decided that an actually functioning online was a bigger priority than story mode, then I agree.
Same. I just had to remember this is the important part, and to stop filling in blanks with my own ideas and getting disappointed when that wasn't the reality.

SF5 covert art is amazing you all are crazy.
It is pretty great, but there's been more interesting art released since then. And I'm a sucker for some Shinkiro art.

The Madcatz TEs are available with new versions coming out soon that add a touch pad. You can use a coupon on Madcatz site for the current versions which knock the price down a bit. They are full Sanwa and good sticks

There are also Hori HRAPs available for PS4 which are also solid sticks. They have Hori Hayabusa sticks and Kuro buttons, which aren't bad but I don't like them as much as Sanwa/Seimitsu. I have one of these and swapped the stick and buttons out for full Seimitsu which was fairly easy.

Just to give more details the promo for Madcatz ends today and will bring the Chun Li stick down to $190 with the promo code "2016"

Hori HRAP can usually be found for about $150 but sometimes less. If you like Sanwa I'd say go for the Madcatz, if not or you don't have a preference go for the Hori and the replacement buttons and stick will about even out the price.
Thanks.

Is the price worth it? I'm new to this level of fighters so I'm not sure what Sanwa, Hayabusa, Kuro, etc are.

I would go with something cheaper, personally. Maybe a hori rap 4. 230 is a bit steep when you're not sure if you'll like it or even stick with it.

Thanks, this seems to be more up my alley.

I didn't mind the expense because I was under the impression that sticks were objectively better. How true is that?

Not true at all. Some of the best SF4 players in the US play on a pad. It's all about your comfort and the work you put in.

I say this as a person that owns about 18 sticks.

It's all preference. The top US player right now is a pad player and the evo 2014 champion played on a PS1 pad.

Sticks, pads, hitboxes, keyboards, trackpads, just use whatever you're more comfortable with.
I'm currently at the crossroads, being raised on a pad but recently deciding to seriously learn with a stick.

I'm finding that while it's much easier to footsies with a pad it's much more difficult to do higher level tricks like FADC and plinking. I've also had the problem of failing DP from the 2nd player side on pad. I don't have that problem on stick.

So, when SFV comes out, I hear you don't need to plink and it doesn't have FADC. Leaning towards stick anyway at the moment, as I'm starting to feel as comfortable with it as I am with a pad.

Put in enough time and all you see is rectangles and numbers

This is not true for me at all.

In fact, love for a character's overall design (which is inspired by story) can be what motivates someone to spend MORE time playing someone.

The fact that Laura is Sean's sister, for example, makes me like her even more. It gives me more of a drive to rep her online and in tourneys...and to do well with her. Which, of course, requires the hours and hours in training mode.

BTW, I don't know why you all are talking like SF5 won't have a story. Ono's interview confirmed it even more, and somehow y'all are interpreting that as THE DREAM IS DEAD.

Capcom has already produced multiple OVAs and story trailers for their recent SF games. Vanilla had an anime, Super had an anime, SFxT had a CGI anime. They could literally just do that again and include matches/QTE's and bam, MKX level story mode. So, it's not like Capcom is incapable.

Play on Guitar Hero Instruments or gtfo
They're not bad as a ghetto stick lol

Too bad their build quality is bootleg level

Learning stick is really fun. Kinda rough for a month or so but then it clicks and you just roll with it.

Yup. There is a lot of coordination that has to become established within your brain. It's probably like learning to walk again. I was hitting the wrong buttons, jumping while trying to throw fireballs and crouching while trying to move, it was a mess. It wasn't long before I got it though.

My only real complaint now is that there is too much range/movement in the stick and I feel like there probably doesn't need to be. Footsies and dashing could benefit from a shorter throw.

You get used to that and it comes in handy later when you start doing more complex motions like buffers and TKs

So Steam just got the update... about a 1 gig of additional content from the last beta... will be posting up anything interesting. Someone should probably start a Beta 4 thread as well.

update- alt costume dump incoming... lots of never before seen stuff

Did they talked about a date or anything ? I can see another beta test coming before launch, but I don`t know if it will be a big one like the three betas or those short ones we had throughout the last year.

Better wait for concrete info before creating a thread.

Capcom, the mother of all leak ships.

Will that new madcatz $80 stick accept old TE sticks/buttons? I don't really feel like spending a huge sum when I already have parts that I could swap out

Color me hyped.

The plot thickens even more.

Man, I just want February 16th to get here already. And I want to know when the 1st DLC character is coming. I'm really hoping for day or week 1.

Paid costumes or unlockable via story?

Is SFV going to launch with content behind paywall and do the gaming press care about that anymore since 2009?

really hyped for these but still a bit upset that we found out about them now. everything about this game has been leaked.

It wouldn't be a capcom game! Remember SSF4 and UMvC3 ;P
