Aye. VMC is a pretty good deal. Wish they'd have more tests on PC though.
Man,I wish I got paid for beta tests
I am pretty sure you don't want to.
It ruins your ability to like playing games.
- finished the campaign of a 3PS ~50+ times
- played a certain level of said 3PS 100+ times
- worked 10+ hours a day für 7 days a week during crunch time
- writing extensive bug reports sucks
- expectations are high, people don't appreciate your work, pay is 'meh',
(experiences might vary from project to project, though)
Don't know if this was posted before but Ubisoft/The Division are funding a series on VICE about infectious diseases and how susceptible is Canada to them (and the rest of the world).

VMC is a good deal of you don't have a day job I think. Working 9-5 in addition to hours of testing each day when it's required.
Or can you select when you want to play? Seems forced from what I read and you need a good excuse not to play.
Ahh I was reading around and seem to have the wrong impression of test times. Perhaps I'll give it a go.No idea where you got the idea that it's forced from. You get sent and email ahead of time asking you to either accept or decline. There are times and dates in the email.
No reason needed if you decline.
I have a normal day job and most of the sessions I attend are either in the evenings or during weekends. If I don't have time to attend I simply decline when the email comes around.

Oh and the PC embargo has been confirmed to end at 3PM GMT. Which is 2 hours from now.

Cool. I'll have a look at the signup todayI will say that there obviously will be time differences depending on where you live. I live in Norway, so if a test happens on american servers it will most certainly happen in the evening for me.
I'd say give it a go. There are no required tests at all (atleast not that I have seen? maybe others can speak to that) and if you can't attend, just decline the invite.
I've been with them for a year now and have declined multiple tests without it having 'consequences'

PC footage soon? Nice.
What? Is this serious? Do you mean the actual download size? There's no way a patch would be 30GB.Is the patch for the beta really around 30 gigs in size?

Did I miss the part in the first few E3 videos where they claimed it was the final build of the game? Even if the visuals have changed, so have the videos representing the game, just like with Watch Dogs. This downgrade shit doesn't matter at all. Nobody is buying games based on 2 or 3 year old E3 videos when there are countless videos close to launch that are more representative of the final product. This is eerily similar to just before Watch_dogs was releases. Why would they remove graphical features like GI, just to add them back in a month before release?
Something to do with false advertising.

At least gaming journalists have a little more tact on where their bread is buttered.
So he wasn't allowed to capture PC footage. Lame.
With the arrival of the PC specs for The Division, you probably have some more questions about the PC version of the game and what it does to take advantage of the platform. That’s why we sat down with Massive Entertainment Technical Director Anders Holmquist and Stuart White, senior producer from Red Storm Entertainment, to get some facts about The Division on PC.
It’s more than a port
“The main goal during the development of the PC version of The Division was to give players the version of the game they wanted. We didn’t want to just port the console version for them, but to instead craft an experience that felt native to PC from the start. A key feature we particularly wanted to address was the navigation through the UI. If you have a mouse and a keyboard, the way you navigate is very different than the navigation with a controller.”
Invite your Steam friends
“Since the game is social at its core, we worked closely with the Uplay team to ensure that players will be able to play with their friends and also find new ones easily. Uplay now lets you invite your Steam friends into your Uplay Friends list and find people you recently played with. Your Uplay Friends list will also allow you to see when your friends are online and send them an invite or join their session seamlessly.”
Multiplayer is PC versus PC only
“As with most multiplatform online multiplayer games, servers for The Division are platform-specific.”
Play the way you want
“You can expect full support for mouse and keyboard as well as controller. If you have a system with both options set up, we also support that. If you want to switch from mouse and keyboard to controller in the middle of the game, you can do it!”
Not a game for mods
“No. Since The Division is an online, open-world action-RPG, its genre makes modding support technically challenging. However, we are focused on providing the best experience for all PC players.”
Customize Your UI
“Players have the ability to move, scale and adjust the opacity of a good portion of the HUD to suit their preferences. Beyond HUD, players will have the ability to tweak a wide variety of graphics options.”
There’s a PC beta, too
“To get your access to the beta, we invite you to join the wait list. Alternatively, you can pre-order The Division for a guaranteed access. The PC beta will take place from January 29 to January 31. The lucky testers will receive further instructions by email shortly before the start of the beta.”
The PC version of The Division supports a lot of hardware
“We wanted to ensure the game ran well, no matter if you were on a laptop or a triple-screened monster computer, and we think we’ve done just that. The key to making a PC game that runs and scales well is to have finely tuned graphics settings, and also to let players dive into the settings and adjust them the way they want. When developing the game, we also worked with different PC hardware manufacturers to bring special features to the game. For example, we have a partnership with Tobii to ensure the game works well with their eye-tracking technology for a more immersive experience.”
