Batman is going to take Supes to school.

Superman wins when he picks up Gotham City and throws it into the desert and then decapitates Batman with his heat vision.

All this campaign does is highlight how fuckin' stupid it was to name this movie "Batman v Superman" when everyone currently alive and possessing a synapse that can correctly fire KNOWS THEY'RE GOING TO TEAM UP.

I don't know if I agree with that

Stealing a look at social media or with co-workers and stuff in real life

A lot of people are actually curious how this fight will play out

Since the number one question seems to be
"How can Batman fight Superman?"

It seems to work for better or worse since some think it's silly since really Batman shouldn't stand a chance, but that idea of a fight itself isn't bad for many.

They showed them working together doing some banter in that trailer.

We know how it's going to play out, you've also released a schedule of all those future movies with them in it also working together.

There's zero tension guys.

It's interesting to contrast that with Civil War discussion where there are good arguments for why either of the two main characters might not make it to the next film.

There's ... nothing like that to BvS. I'm interested in seeing it but it doesn't matter who 'wins' because we know it'll be followed with them shaking hands.

Personally, I thought marketing should have kicked off with having folks choose sides (especially know the most recent trailer)

But I dig the poster, and campaign seems to be doing well on social media so...

I suspect WB didn't emphasize "choose your side" or the like as a marketing angle earlier on because they perceived, not without reason, Batman as being significantly more popular than Superman.

I mean, the studio did choose to put Batman's name first in the title, even though this is a sequel to a Superman film.

Yeah, this right here. This. Fucking this.

We know they're going to team up eventually. We didn't know it'll be at the end of the movie. Hell, even if we kinda knew, I wanted to see it for my own eyes how it unfolds. They practically spoiled it in the latest trailer. Lex Luthor's banter about them not picking up fight with each other would've been awesome if left as is. Them pounding each other would've been awesome if left as is. Them talking shit to each other about Metropolis and Gotham City would've been awesome. But no, they had to kill the tension by bringing in skateboarding Doomsday and Captain Amazon in the mix in the damn trailer. They couldn't hold on to their excitement and had to spoil ours.

Who wins? Aquaman.

This seems to be the kind of question that highlights exactly how stupid framing the film as an actual fight with an actual winner actually is, though. Even people who want to take it at face value think it's ridiculous.

The film might be fun, and entertaining, and way more in line with previous first-time team-up stories between the two characters than anyone's expecting. But it's stupid to present this as a film in which one of them is actually a villain who will be defeated by the other. Not only because it's misrepresentative of the story itself, but because nobody who knows anything about either character thinks Batman honestly has a fucking shot. Because he doesn't.

They even go so far as to have Superman verbalize this IN THE MARKETING.

So focusing the title and the marketing on the non-existent tension regarding who might win is an even dumber call, because the result of their fight is that they team up and form the Justice League.

I wonder if their gonna tease the next villian, I just want to see the joker and superman in the big screen together.

Except for the fact both of the stars have signed on for Infinity War Part 1 and 2.

That's not part of the universe. Of course everyone signs for multiple movies, but that doesn't tell what happens in the universe. You can have hologram Tony Stark for all we know. Hell, others can die. Bucky can die. War Machine can die. Falcon can die. It's very unsure and it may happen in a Marvel movie.

However, the tension is still there and its fresh in the trailer. Iron Man talking about them being friends. Them kicking Iron Man's ass as if he is going to fucking pass out. Hints of others being dead or immobilized.

Hell, even if they have a hurrah momentum in the end, it doesn't matter because the tension hasn't been spoiled by the trailer and they never will. Marvel ain't fucking this up. Disney ain't fucking this up. WB did.

My excitement has shifted to Suicide Squad. Everyone's is.

Like I said, I think it would have made for a more fun campaign at the start of the marketing.

Sure it's silly but could have bought them months of how can Batman fight Superman, etc

But the last trailer... kind of made most of the conversation needless, but here we are.

That said, I do like the actual poster

The Brave and the Bold was too good of a title I guess.

Or hell Superman and Batman: World's Finest

I agree that the "versus" concept is completely played out because everyone and their mom already knows how it will end up.

I guess this is just a hurdle we all [including Snyder] need to take to get to the actual good stuff [i.e. the Justice League and all that]. A lot of this feels like "we have to do this to set up the larger universe, so let's just get it over with".

What

Kryptonite son!

I'm sure they'll do something like that. Batman is, by far, the favorite here so I'm guessing he'll get the "win" but with the knowledge that Superman could have beat him in any other circumstance or some shit. They'll make sure they appease both fanbases.

But we already know neither is gonna win.

I wish I didn't see that last trailer. I was interested until I saw it. I will wait for it to hit streaming.

Seems like a pointless campaign now.

Nah they'll have a skirmish I'm sure, before Doomsday and all that other shit comes in.

They'll have the equivalent of a superhero bar fight and then become best buds after. I'm guessing somehow Batman wins this "bar fight."

When a lot of other Marvel movie has pulled the 'Oh look this character died - oh wait no they didnt' trick then I dont feel that much dread for the characters. The tension is there for sure though since we've been with those characters for so long to see them fight is sad. But dread over a Marvel movie, lol no. I expect Quicksilver to be back eventually. RIP Thor's mom though.

It was never going to be a fight to the death and they were always going to team up. The trailer spoiled that admittedly, but it's not as if they were going to off one of the title characters before they've even started the Justice League.

I mean, regardless of the ending there's clearly a big throw down between the two. My assumption is that Batman schools Superman during that fight and they reconcile for the greater good, etc.

The marketing for this movie is a mess, thanks to Batman, it will work at a commercial POV but I'm sure the movie will be pretty bad.

Trailer shows the fight and team uphappening in the same locale

As others have said this is definitely not the case. That's two different cities. Batman/Superman happens in Gotham (Batman lures Superman to him, in armor, using the Bat signal). Doomsday takes place in Metropolis where Superman is conversing with Lex and where the downed Kryptonian ship crash landed in the Zod battle (near the Superman statue, which again, would be in Metropolis).

Hell, even if they have a hurrah momentum in the end, it doesn't matter because the tension hasn't been spoiled by the trailer and they never will. Marvel ain't fucking this up. Disney ain't fucking this up. WB did.

Wait, when did WB fuck up? The only did they did was showed Batman & Superman teaming to fight Doomsday which goes back to that guys point is that Cap and Ironman #TEAMIRONMAN by the way will team up in Infinity War. Also Bucky is not going to die because the actor Sebastian Stan said 2 years ago that he signed on for 9 movies. So, far he has did 2 with Civil War being his third. Last thing, Disney has nothing to do with Marvel movies other than owning Marvel. Kevin Feige is the mastermind behind all this.

Trailer gave it away. No winner and they're friends in the end. So exciting!

Not true at all. Just because they team up doesn't mean that there is no winner between the two. Nor does it mean they're friends. Just bc they decide to team up to take out Doomsday does not mean they're friends.

Lets not kid ourselves that the trailer ruined the idea that neither will win. They were never going to have an outright winner.

Same with Civil War. These things are designed to end in a stalemate/buddy hug.

Already been spoiled since we see both clearly at the end of the trailer as they team up against Graveler

Dumbass DC can't get out of their own way
