Serkan Toto Rumor: Bandai Namco making several NX games, including a Smash for launch

You're ignoring that the Wii U is a relatively unique situation for Nintendo.

It's gonna be their worst selling console by millions of units and reintroducing those Wii U games to a new audience sounds like a good strategy.

My prediction is that MM and Smash get enhanced ports at least. Splatoon will get a sequel.
Well, the GameCube was, for quite a while, their worst sellinh console by millions of units and even selling much better with the Wii, which had a similar architecture, they did only a bunch of ports and called it a day. Why this time it would be different?

So at launch:

Smash Bros 4 NX (Ultimate Edition with all dlcs)
Zelda NX (upgraded wii u port)
Pikmin 4

looks like a strong launch window is being prepared. as not many people have the wii u they can upgrade the games and re-release them to beef up the lineup at launch and over the first 2 years.

Seriously why do people say Mario Maker isn't possible without a touchscreen? LBP used a controller and look at the complex shit people came up with. Its a tile based creation tool. The d-pad and a few shortcut buttons is all you need. Touch screen is not necessary.

fyi, the DEA is on the way to your place to seize what I assume must be massive quantities of crack.

Considering port info is the only stuff that leaked I would expect a few original titles to be ready for launch as well

Some Wii U ports are welcome, but NX can't get the image of being a console for ports and remasters. I hope the launch is dominated by original games.

Exactly

Expect a lot of WiiU ports

Mario Maker should be there, possibly Xenoblade X, etc...

Some of the older WiiU games might get a sequel or something

No. New ideas, new games. Most of the high profile Wii U games sold a lot as is despite its low install base. I also highly doubt Xenoblade X for example would sell more if it was on a new console that's still not guaranteed for success.

Wait, if they're porting smash, doesn't that rule out backwards compatibility?

Hopefully. Hard to have progress when your console must support last gen, too. Also, if it's physical hardware inside, it means console is more expensive. ALSO, if it's wii u or 3DS backward compatible, it needs a second screen or a gamepad, which also limits forward progress or makes the console more expensive.

Backwards compatibility would cost them (and therefore US) more money. Also, if they can just re-sell old games they can make more money. ALSO, if they offer benefits to wii u/3ds owners who already purchased the games to get free or severely discounted versions, they can potentially entice a ton of NX console purchases. I know I'm planning on getting a vita because (thanks to PS+) I have like 30+ games for it already, even though I dont own the system. If all VC/Ported games come free or really cheap to existing consumers, it can offer a ton of incentive for old customers to buy it.

This whole generation is the generation of remasters. NX would just be following the trend.

Finally the NX info is coming.

Lets hope it will be an enhanced port and not a watered down version because of some quirky gimmick that NX brings.

Are you shocked by this? PowerPC is dead. They weren't lying when they said they were getting away from the Wii.

The Wii U is essentially an extension of GameCube cpu tech. It's time to catch up.

I'm sure they'll remaster the big titles.

They'll most likely pull a Sony/3rd party publishers with porting games from PS3 to PS4 by porting their games over from Wii U to NX.

Hopefully, games like Zelda U & Super Mario Maker will make the cut (alongside SSB for Wii U, of course).

From Bandai Namco, isn't it safe to expect things like Tekken and Tales will be coming to NX?

I'm hoping for a lot of Wii U ports as a way to pad the line-up. More people would get to play the games, and we wouldn't have cheap spin-offs nobody wants. I feel like Splatoon will get a sequel on NX down the line, rather than a port.

Wishlist time!

Smash Bros X Ultimate with 6 new fighters: Simon Belmont, Bomberman, Rayman, Isaac, Ray 01 Mk 3, Bnjo
Dragonball Xenoverse 2
Tales of Berseria
Tales of Vesperia R
Tekken 7 with Waluigi costumes
God Eater 3
Pac-man Super Collection

...and of course: RIDGE RACER!!!

FTFY

Relax

We will get both. You are in denial if you think WiiU software isnt coming over

Its life was short, install base was low. Thats a lot of undermilked software investment

Its gonna happen man

What? Many people play Mario Maker without the gamepad, it's take longer but it wouldn't be impossible.

Making levels without the gamepad would be absolute trash. It's possible in the same way that playing San Andreas on a smartphone is possible.

Who said they dont have a gamepad solution

I would expect all previous acccessories to work AND an alternative method in place

Plus if they are PORTING games instead of having BC then they would modify said games or patch in the alternative method if not downright support the gamepad itself

The gamepad isnt anything that special guys. Its a tablet with buttons

Well, duh. :P

Of course if they're making ports they are gonna have to modify the controls. Point is there are Wii U games that would flat out not work without it. TW101, Mario Maker, etc.

Im sure they can figure it out

Wanna bet?

Yup

Im pretty confident. Its not going to be EVERYTHING

Also its not always going to be straight ports either

They have been treating games as platforms. Mario Maker, Mario Kart, Splatoon... These are updated and moldable games

Expect expanded content, upgrades, function changes. Whatever you would expect would be logical

Smash 4 Director's Cut with Wolf, Ice Climbers and two new comers, all DLC fully integrated into events and stuff, along with a new, better organized menu and stages from the 3DS would get me to buy a NX on launch day.

pikmin is new and Zelda will be new but cross-gen. I'm sure they will have some other new games but might not have big franchises at launch depending on when they started development. I have a feeling we will see the NX handheld by late summer.

I'm down with that .. Smash Wii U port with all DC and 3DS stuff would sell. I would hope a return of form for Ridge Racer.

May have missed it, but is that confirmed?

Would have thought 3 put them off forever.

No big surprise - doing something like this would be an easy way to give the NX a good launch title. I hope it includes the 3DS stages as well as a few newcomers - Inklings would be an obvious one if they can work out the gameplay. As would
Ridley
.

Yes, Pikmin 4 was confirmed, to most people's surprise. No word on console, but NX is an obvious extrapolation.

Good of Nintendo to be building a close relationship with a third party, but I'm not sure what Namco games I'd want aside from Xenoverse and maybe something Soul Calibur.

I also hope that Smash NX isn't just a straight port, not even a port that combines 3DS and Wii U content. Like, throw a new Smash Run stage in there or something. Make a Smash Tour option that isn't so zany. Give us the character-as-stock game from the end of Smash Tour, but as a regular Smash mode. Stuff like that.

I don't know why people think Smash has to be a port, Smash U came out in November 2014, if they started development shortly after that and built it directly off of Smash U, even reusing most of the assets, they could totally have a new game ready for holiday 2016. Having the engine, core gameplay, assets and animation from Smash U could cut down on dev time dramatically.

If Sakurai is really "done" with smash this project would be a good way to get somebody new in charge
That kind of transition would be better saved for Smash 5.

But they were working on DLC for Smash 4.

Speaking of Bamco, I hope they lend their Monolithsoft-developed IPs to Nintendo and let Monolithsoft work something from some of them. They've been buddy-buddy lately, so please get on that Bamco. Baiten Kaitos on NX would be pretty cool.

Actually. There you go guys Melee HD. Two years after the release of Smash 4 Just like the 64 to Melee. How could I not see this coming.

Oh Sakurai you sneaking bastard.

By the way I'm joking.
