Wait, if they're porting smash, doesn't that rule out backwards compatibility?
yeah I would assume this to be true
That said.... outside of WiiU games I imagine EVERYTHING else can be emulated and offered Digitally on the new store

Except for Wii U.Almost definitely Smash 4 For NX with all of the DLC.
Which is fine, honestly. Smash sells systems.
Well, the GameCube was, for quite a while, their worst sellinh console by millions of units and even selling much better with the Wii, which had a similar architecture, they did only a bunch of ports and called it a day. Why this time it would be different? You're ignoring that the Wii U is a relatively unique situation for Nintendo.
It's gonna be their worst selling console by millions of units and reintroducing those Wii U games to a new audience sounds like a good strategy.
My prediction is that MM and Smash get enhanced ports at least. Splatoon will get a sequel.
Yep, port or it's not hitting at launch. I wonder if it'll be like one of those GOTY editions. Would feel a little too soon for Nintendo though.Smash would have to be a port.
THISRidge Racer 8.
Believe.
Except for Wii U.
It definitely sold Wii Us, but many people bought the system early on because they knew Smash was coming. I know I'm one of those people.Except for Wii U.
Seriously why do people say Mario Maker isn't possible without a touchscreen? LBP used a controller and look at the complex shit people came up with. Its a tile based creation tool. The d-pad and a few shortcut buttons is all you need. Touch screen is not necessary.
lucina boots as dlc.
I guess so, yeah. My point though was that I don't think this indicates them killing off BC, because you can play TP on your Wii U right now if you wanted.port of the gamecube game right? wii one had a mirrored game world iirc.
So at launch:
Smash Bros 4 NX (Ultimate Edition with all dlcs)
Zelda NX (upgraded wii u port)
Pikmin 4
looks like a strong launch window is being prepared. as not many people have the wii u they can upgrade the games and re-release them to beef up the lineup at launch and over the first 2 years.
Exactly
Expect a lot of WiiU ports
Mario Maker should be there, possibly Xenoblade X, etc...
Some of the older WiiU games might get a sequel or something
Wait, if they're porting smash, doesn't that rule out backwards compatibility?
Some Wii U ports are welcome, but NX can't get the image of being a console for ports and remasters. I hope the launch is dominated by original games.

Are you shocked by this? PowerPC is dead. They weren't lying when they said they were getting away from the Wii.
The Wii U is essentially an extension of GameCube cpu tech. It's time to catch up.
I'm sure they'll remaster the big titles.
Wishlist time!
Smash Bros X Ultimate with 6 new fighters: Simon Belmont, Bomberman, Rayman, Isaac, Ray 01Mk 3, Bnjo
Dragonball Xenoverse 2
Tales of Berseria
Tales of Vesperia R
Tekken 7 with Waluigi costumes
God Eater 3
Pac-man Super Collection
...and of course: RIDGE RACER!!!
No. New ideas, new games. Most of the high profile Wii U games sold a lot as is despite its low install base. I also highly doubt Xenoblade X for example would sell more if it was on a new console that's still not guaranteed for success.
What? Many people play Mario Maker without the gamepad, it's take longer but it wouldn't be impossible.
Who said they dont have a gamepad solution
I would expect all previous acccessories to work AND an alternative method in place
Plus if they are PORTING games instead of having BC then they would modify said games or patch in the alternative method if not downright support the gamepad itself
The gamepad isnt anything that special guys. Its a tablet with buttons
Except for Wii U.
FTFY
Relax
We will get both. You are in denial if you think WiiU software isnt coming over
Its life was short, install base was low. Thats a lot of undermilked software investment
Its gonna happen man
Making levels without the gamepad would be absolute trash. It's possible in the same way that playing San Andreas on a smartphone is possible.
Well, duh.
Of course if they're making ports they are gonna have to modify the controls. Point is there are Wii U games that would flat out not work without it. TW101, Mario Maker, etc.
Wanna bet?
Considering port info is the only stuff that leaked I would expect a few original titles to be ready for launch as well

Worked out ok for ps4.

Yes, Pikmin 4 was confirmed, to most people's surprise. No word on console, but NX is an obvious extrapolation.May have missed it, but is that confirmed?
Would have thought 3 put them off forever.

It's true, though. Porting successful games doesn't really hurt image, especially if many people missed out because they don't own a Wii U.Ice Cold.

That kind of transition would be better saved for Smash 5.If Sakurai is really "done" with smash this project would be a good way to get somebody new in charge
But they were working on DLC for Smash 4.I don't know why people think Smash has to be a port, Smash U came out in November 2014, if they started development shortly after that and built it directly off of Smash U, even reusing most of the assets, they could totally have a new game ready for holiday 2016. Having the engine, core gameplay, assets and animation from Smash U could cut down on dev time dramatically.
