Lucky you I was there as well grabbed a copy went to pay and got a sold out notice. Maybe you shouldn't assume other people didn't do that. They said they received over 1000 orders at 10:00am and it broke the site. Clearly they should have stopped the sale and fixed the problems before closing everything.

I got the "sold out" message when I put an item in the basket and tried to check out 5 seconds after they went up.
Doing what you suggest didn't help this morning.
Ok, I said that because it sounded like you were just planning on sitting in front a computer doing nothing else.

The site never went slow or crashed. It does sound like there were cart errors. But it didn't sell out immediately.

Yes several times. The stock reading was broken. Read through the tweets again. I was wrong it was 1000 orders that came through at exactly 10. Here is their quote on twitter
"1,000 orders came through at 10AM - I don't think Shopify's system was prepared for that."
I was trying multiple times for 15 minutes to buy a ps4 copy and everytime it said sold out. Some people were saying the payment method you were signed up for changed the message to in stock but I could never get a different message. They had errors and screwed a lot of people out of copies. They should have gone back and stopped everything and limited it to 1 at that point.

Yeah, there were definitely some errors, but you just needed to keep trying. It said "sold out" for me a couple of times, but eventually worked and got my order in at like 10:20 EST

I accept that you believe that. I just don't agree with you. I live in a capitalist world. There are always going to be people that can't have or get everything they want. Myself included. That's a debate that extends far beyond LRG though and it doesn't contribute.
It is not possible to please everyone, nor should that be their goal. People that want 2, much like those that missed out and want 1 can still get them. There are copies in the secondary market already. It becomes a question of how badly you want it and if you have the means. LRG and the world at large owes you nothing.
That still doesn't fix that they had a broken site and didn't fix it at the time. They should have taken the site down when they saw the demand and how it was affecting everything. Capitalism is great when everything goes how it should but getting artificially screwed over is kind of shitty.

They said originally people were limited to 2 copies. They went back checking for people cheating the system. To go back and take away the 2nd copy because people like yourself didn't get one isn't fair. People were allowed to buy 2, so some did. Also, I had absolutely 0 issues with the site, bought one of each. Not one issue. Was done within 1 minute. Some people had issues, some didn't. They can't just go back and cancel everything and try again. I mean...this is ridiculous...I can't understand your rationale at all...I have no idea where you're coming from, the site crashed due to the sheer number of people placing orders. That's what happens when something limited goes on sale...
Yeah and they should have taken it down and fixed it at the time. They should have stopped and changed the limit then. Yes they should go back and limit everyone to 1 copy because they clearly recognize that they should have in the first place.
Also how about all of the 6pm people who can't get 2 copies should they be punished because of the popularity. Why not treat everyone the same?

I know some people definitely had problems, and I'm not trying to undermine that, but I want to submit that I had a very smooth as painless checkout process. At 10:00 AM, I added a Vita copy to my cart, checked out, and received my confirmation email by 10:01.

Keep things in perspective. You should have tried ordering the anniversary ps4 last year. Sony couldn't keep their site up and it was down for hours. I don't expect LRG and shopify to outperform Sony and yet it did. At least in my case. I've seen Amazon screw up and show inconsistent stock for amiibo sales depending on which of their servers you were hitting. This was no worse than companies far larger provide.
The PS4 version was the one with the problems. Would like to have LimitedRunGames come and tell us exactly when the PS4 copies all sold out.
So? I think Sony was shitty for that as well. That doesn't mean LRG shouldn't have handled their stuff better. Also clearly something was broken since I was there at 10 and couldn't buy a copy while other people seemed to have no trouble. Seems like just as much of a fuck up.
How are they going to handle it differently they have already said they will not limit the first wave and they are not going to print any additional copies. Basically if they get overwhelmed with orders again everyone may end up just as screwed.

That is quite frankly not your call to make. They should have this, they should have that. In the end, the stock was sold. Others were able to get their purchases through while others couldn't. It's is a tough world and no one owes you anything. Sorry you weren't able to buy a video game.
I have no idea what you mean with your edit at the bottom. So you're saying you want the 2 copy limit @ 6pm? This whole time I thought you were glad they changed it...
I received my confirmation email @ 10:00. Took me less than a minute to add vita+Ps4 to cart, checkout and get confirmation.

It's always great when people that had no issues assume everyone else had the same experience. I ordered, and ordered, and ordered. I started the moment they went live, but every time I hit checkout, it said sold out. I wasn't late or slow, or any of the other things I've read. It just did not work.
Congrats, glad you and your friend had a good experience. That is how it should have been for everyone but it wasn't.
Even more irritated to hear someone else got one 15 minutes later because I'm sure many more people quit far earlier because it told us that the item was sold out.
Clearly we should have started earlier since everyone else had such a smooth experience.

No it's because the store was broken and not allotting stock properly.

Wonderful! No offense to the games that have already been released but I'm glad that, because of them, steps are getting taken to address the unforeseen issues with this before Oddworld and CSH.
Right, I've always sorta assumed that Mighty Rabbit's games are essentially test runs to figure out how the market would react to all of this before doing other devs' games (like ours [CSH]), because while we can't afford to have a ton of leftover stock piled up sitting around, we also want to make sure that there is a decent number printed.

It sounded like one of the reasons for the low print run was available funds to manufacture. They really need to do a pre-order system with a non refundable deposit. This would gauge interest, help bring in money to pay for manufacturing, and not encounter ordering issues like today. I know they wanted to not take orders until they had games in hand, but a pre-order system would benefit everyone except maybe the scalpers. Even then, they could probably benefit to some degree but the after market value probably would be a lot less if everyone is getting their hands on it.

The public tracking system was broken, our inventory still showed PS4 copies. People who kept trying were able to get a copy.
Pre-orders are a logistical nightmare and have been touched on too many times now. What Vic does, works well for Vic. The same can't be applied to everyone.
We brought up a subscription or early access program, but the majority rejected it and felt like it we were putting a gun to their head. So we are still looking at other options.
We didn't take the site down or try to fix it because it's Shopify, we can't really edit everything about Shopify, like if there is a weird error. We also didn't take it down because the majority of people ordering didn't have any problems.
We also don't want to retroactively go back on our word about the limits put in place for the first batch. It's over and done. The best we can do is cancel orders that were excessive or cheated the system. The second batch hasn't gone up yet so we can put whatever limits we want on it.
Everything is a chance to learn and improve upon. We have been extremely good about communicating with our fans. A lot of other sites and companies wouldn't be this transparent. We are trying to be the best there is and fair to everyone.

Subscription program would have worked for me (if you could pick one platform or both), even as someone who's hesitant to put all my eggs in one basket for anything, but yeah... I remember people rejecting it. Whatever works you works for me, tbh, as long as physical Vita games get made and I can get one.

I tried for 20 minutes to get a PS4 copy starting at 10 clearly something wasn't right. Maybe y'all should think about reprinting this one since it ended up so fucked up.

LRG Twitter has around 3,500 followers right now. Make sure to print more copies than followers at least.
I posted on our forums why we don't do that. I wish all 3,500 followers would buy a copy. But the truth is only 50% will. The same still holds true. The limit was 2 per platform, so that is a total of 4 max that someone could buy.
I'm not going to say my mind has change on that just yet, because we are going to see with the next batch. I'm also scared to say anything like that for sure now because it seems like every time we think it won't sell out, it does.
So yeah... I'm not sure how to answer that yet! But we definitely need more stock!
I'm going to try but it was a technical issue so who knows.

We personally won't ever, ever do a reprint. If a developer wants to, they can. But it will have different artwork.

Yes, I got the standalone PS4 copy that I was unable to order this morning. So, I purchased stand alone Vita in the morning and PS4 standalone in the afternoon.
