DDS1's final boss is piss easy, just have two different multi target spells out and you completely neuter her ability to do anything.
 
I found Lucifer's Call hard, but it was my first SMT game, so my character build was probably off. I also walked myself into the TDE path, so that was fun.

Don't recall many problems with DDS1, but I think half my game time was spent grinding up for the
Meganada
fight near the end of DDS2.

Anyway, a Persona question: What's Persona Tsumi To Batsu supposed to be? An alternate take on Persona 2? A Prequel/Sequel/whatever? Or something only semi related to Persona 2?

It's a spinoff manga set in the same school as Persona 2

Or at least thats what the wiki page says anyway.

I recommend looking up a video of the absolute insanity that is the second to last boss in DDS2 if you thought that was bad.

Easily the most difficult fight I've ever done in a JRPG.

I dislike spoiler culture. I also don't disrespect others by being intentionally ignorant of where I am.

Not spoiling plot points of the games is the first rule in the OP. How about we don't apologize people being asshats for no reason?

Hey, don't look at me. I'm a bonafied spoiler hound and click any black text I see in this thread! I basically embrace spoilers for almost anything, and still enjoy it just as much!

But regardless of if it's unfounded or not, regardless if one is a spoiler hound such as myself or not, there is no reason to be disrespectful to others about it. This thread has a clear rule, stated clearly in the OP (and in all previous versions of the thread before it), with a clear purpose. And if Dantis's reply above is any indication, I am certain it will not be changing short of mod/admin intervention. =P

The only real reason I can fathom of someone being strongly against spoiler tags is that they don't look pleasing.

Like I said, I realize it's in the rules, and I've followed the rule. I was merely taking the opportunity to voice the opinion that it's stupid, as are most spoiler rules.

People have become obsessed with spoilers as entertainment increasingly becomes people's raison d'etre and as people become more and more entrenched in the idea that plot is the important aspect of media. Ask anyone to tell you about their favorite show or book and more often than not you get some pathetic laundry list of plot points.

No wonder people value spoilers so much, they don't know how to engage media.

Could go either way. Although SMT IV F NA could be announced at any point, whilst I think we'll have a bit buildup before the next P5 news.

Although if they have to actually give an exact release date for SMT IV F, not counting preorder place-holders, then I'd go with Persona 5.
 
I'm gonna go with P5. I think we'll get the JP release date either around P-Mag later this month (highly unlikely) or by the end of March (more probable).

SMTIVF sounds to me like something that gets announced around E3. Like, Atlus USA would release a lot of info all at the same time about upcoming games.

Purposively looks up spoilers about things before playing/watching/whatever here, just because you don't care about (or hate in this case) spoilers doesn't mean you have to ruin other peoples fun.

Who cares if they get off on the surprise, even if you 'hate the culture' or whatever there are ways to not be a dick about it.

No one has wanted things spoiled for them since the beginning of time. It's just that now we live in a time period where we're actually around a huge amount of people nearly all the time thanks to the internet. We've never really had to worry about spoiling things because we've never really had conversations where thousands of people could be reading it alongside us at the same time.

It's got nothing to do with stories being more plot-oriented.

Honestly think you're making a bit of an assumption and/or projecting a bit there when you say that.

Lunar's right in that people have always acted that way. Even before the internet, I always had people tell me not to spoil a movie or game before they finished it. It's not really changed since then. Just... magnified.

Try looking deeper than mere plot points, because if a piece of media has anything of value, the real depth will lie underneath the plot. [Breaking Bad Spoilers] Spoilers don't ruin anything, [/Breaking Bad Spoilers] and if they did, the experience was shitty to begin with.

But I digress. People are happy in their little hysterical paranoid spoiler-free bubbles, making their own lives infinitely more troublesome, so rock on. Nothing I can do to change that.

so like whether or not a work has 'depth' doesn't have jack shit to do with not wanting spoilers. i don't want spoilers because i want to be surprised. you can't be surprised if you get spoiled. whether or not the work is deep or worth it or whatever is besides the point. i enjoy the sensation of surprise and i more often enjoy it when the surprise is delivered via authorial intent with regard to pacing, writing, and whatever and less often when the surprise is delivered via a vector unrelated to the work.

I think there's a double standard on what 'being disrespectful' constitutes.
 
Hey, just dropping in to say that spoiler rules should be set and agreed upon by the community. These could be placed in the opening post for reference. When it comes to older titles like Persona 3, some might make the assumption that the Persona thread is a safe place to discuss the game without reservation (I know I would), so I wouldn't get too bent out of shape if somebody inadvertently posts a 'spoiler', especially if it's something pretty minor. I'm not sure about statute of limitations, but personally, there should be some level of leniency if a game is ten years old.

There should also be some common sense too of course. If someone in the community is currently playing Persona 3, you shouldn't go out of your way to spoil the more significant story beats for them regardless of whatever the thread rules are. Be considerate.

I remember a while back the title of this community asked for marked Persona Q and Utlimax spoilers, did that work well enough for the newer games?

That AVClub piece is interesting enough I think, but probably should be nice and mark it anyway.
