Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I played the last beta for I think something like 7 or 8 hours total over the three days? not a LOT, compared to plenty of people's histories in this thread alone, but a decent-ish amount.

I'm not a very good player at all. Decidedly mediocre, in fact. As middle-of-the-pack as possible. Probably even listing slightly towards the scrubbier side of things.

I crossed 10k in Fight Money before that beta was done. So for me, 8 hours = 10k.

That means if a character is 100k, I got 2 workweeks to put in on the game to get that character. Or rather: A single paycheck.

I could pay the extra 30 bucks to unlock five characters. Or I could just buy the characters that seem interesting to me on a case-by-case basis. Or I can put in 80 hours of game-time (much likely less, depending on special Fight Money raising challenges and single-player shit) and grab up the people I want that way.

Why not just buy the Season Pass and spare yourself the agony and stress of saving up Fight Money for characters? Fight Money also is gonna be used for COSTUMES, y'know...

I plan on playing SFV alot but I just do not wanna worry about dealing with saving up Fight Money for a freaking character.

That's what I'm doing. Also probably won't have the time so this way I can save for Season 2.

Who said fight $ is going to be used for costumes? I have never read this.

I was under the impression the season pass got you some alt costumes, and the characters---that's it. Costumes are still paid DLC.

They've said that some cosmetic DLC like costumes will be purchasable with Fight Money. Of course you probably shouldn't expect too many of those, but they will popup occasionally.

I believe it was confirmed that when the shop opens there will be story related costumes you can buy with fight money. Like Police Chun Li.

I thought the SFV Features trailer indirectly confirmed that playing Story Mode "unlocked" costumes that you had to buy with Fight Money...

Season Pass gives a premium costume for 6 DLC characters and the 6 DLC characters.

I'll be grinding it out to start. I'll probably buy the season pass that includes more characters I like. No way am I paying a red cent for ole two-move, 80's hair Guile! And whatever season pass has Blanka, Deejay, THawk or Dan, nah. Might not even spend the fight money unless I'm swimming in it. ;)

Hard to say. Most any number people throw out right now is based on beta values for Fight Money rewards, which doesn't include any other sources of earning Fight Money from single player. Plus once they actually open the store there will be additional daily challenges that will likely be a larger source of consistent Fight Money.
And that Capcom themselves already said doing the dailies should net you enough FM for each character as they release.

I have no idea why that isn't as salient to people as using non-RTM FM amounts to calculate instead.

Somehow I agree, though it's difficult to look past the art. The hoodie, the gloves + the hawk = looks like a future DLC character I'd grind for. I mean, I'd buy Sean regardless but it's a good/unique look for him.

Yeah I really like it. The fact he's got a new outfit and voice actor makes me think he might be DLC at some point.

The only thing I'm kinda annoyed with is retailer exclusive costumes for the Collector's Edition... I really wanted the Cammy costume so I preordered the Collector's Edition from Best Buy (hurry up and ship it, please). But I MUCH rather buy stuff from Amazon because they handle business so well. I'm sure all those CE costumes will eventually be available to buy with Fight Money, though.

Halfway through the character stories and having a blast with this. I didn't play much IV and I'm pretty much the definition of casual, but this just feels like such a tight package. I miss Akuma though, used to play him whenever I did load up IV.

No secret boss characters huh :(
You have an early retail copy? I have some questions if you don't mind answering and not under nda.
Can you see the lobby options? Are there ranked lobbies? Anything to suggest you can invite players from other platforms or have them as friends?

Ah okay. Well then fight $ won't be totally saved up by me in year 1 for some of these costumes I'm sure. The rest I plan to hoard for season 2 so I can buy who I want then with fight money and not spend a dime.

I'm hoping a season 1 pass purchase will let me grind enough to not have to worry about it later.

We'll see though.

What's his alt?

I want to know too.

How's does the PS3 arcade stick compatibility work? Have you tried it?

Can you check if you can create lobbies and invite PC players?

Holy shit people. Look at this video.

It is fucking NUTS how much this game has been improved since it was first announced. No wonder I wasn't really hot on the way it looked initially. Hot damn.

I think a big question is do other stages have those transitions if you KO players either in a certain place or under a certain condition. Capcom has been pretty quiet on whether or not this would be just for this stage and this stage alone

I'm going to make a random prediction about FANG. I think FANG is going to be responsible for the creation of Twelve and Necro. Not directly, but I feel like FANG's 'experiments' are the early stages of the G-Project and that FANG's work will fall into the hands of the Illuminati some way or another.

I'm really hoping that the story has either A) the Illuminati making their presence felt in a big way, or B) the final collapse of Shadowloo. Preferably both.

Some mealy mouthed bullshit used to stretch the story across multiple seasons will piss all over Capcom's claims of "taking the story more seriously." Again.

Less than a week! Just got a new job that I won't be starting until the 22nd too.

On one hand it's awesome, because I'll be completely free to play SFV for 6 whole days on release. On the other hand, I have NOTHING to do until the 16th. It's going so slow.

I haven't played SF 3 since 2nd Impact in the arcades! But I always spent my quarters on Alex...Wasted alot of those quarters on Gill and never beat the cheap bastard.I always loved how badass Urien was but I was too young to understand charge characters and play them well...I'm really glad to see Alex as the first DLC character...Hopefully Gief and Karin will see me through to those 100k FM.

Unless they're patching more in on release day, it looks like the China stage is the only one that has them. Kinda sucks. I wanted to see more of those.

Can anyone show examples of the shadow dithering? I haven't really noticed anything of the sort, maybe I'm looking at the wrong places, LOL.

I think he was talking about the PS4 version. I doubt it'll be better, but I'd love to be wrong since the dithering looked really bad.

If they intend on keeping the game going for the length of the gen, I'm sure they'll work in graphical upgrades like KI is doing. KI got a resolution bump for S2 and they're redoing the lighting system for S3.
