But PC isn't getting Persona 5.
You can get #FE instead, wooo!!!
But PC isn't getting Persona 5.
I see the next Xbox being a console you hook up to a Windows PC through Thunderbolt or something like that and it can get that extra power and stream it(or send it through HDMI) to a TV (or on your monitor). Enjoy Xbox games powered by your PC at higher framerate and all that shit.
I'm curious to see how this will affect the Xbox brand in more long term. Overall, i think most sales will be on Xbox One, but i'm wondering if potential sales of Xbox One hardware will be limited because of this.
You said this one issue "really bothers" you. So why does it bother you only after today's announcement of a single player game going to PC and not the thousands of other times xbox games have been on PC and were playable online for no XBLG?
You can get #FE instead, wooo!!!
Yeah, but maybe the console-market isn't ready for that just yet.
Why buy a xbox and pay for xbox live gold if a can buy a PC and get better graphics, free online and cheaper games?
It's been quite interesting to see how the console platform holders' opinions on PC have changed. MS is bringing a number of their games over and Sony has been openly announcing PC versions of indies and third party games onstage at E3 and even their own PSX. It seems like they've finally realized that PC is a separate, not competing market.

Didn't Gamespot retract the statement that Gears 4 and Scalebound are "confirmed"? This sounds like something they were informed of, but not permitted to announce at this time.
Well that's literally what the thread title says.
fine. "really bothers" was a poor choice of words on my part, something like "the only valid argument I can understand" or something would have been better.
let me clear it up. I do not give a shit, I am just bored at work and felt like discussing it.
We have yet to see the quality of the service that MS is offering on PC, so far the walled gardening and quality of the Port (TR) leave much to be desired.
So yes, skepticism on the side of PC players is still justified. With or without quoting the extremely true timeline.
Who cares if they buy the XB4? will they buy GoW6? that's the important question, because they could choose if they want to buy 400$ console and get GoW6 or buy a 1000$ PC and get GoW6.
Either way, they win, the only people getting the shaft are the PS4 only folks.

"permitted to announce"? that's not how it works. It was just a misunderstanding.

Ah I understand you.
Then to discuss it on a broader scale in general my view on that viewpoint is that for anyone who feels that this PC initiative is unfair because PC players will get to play online for free while Xbox owners have to pay, they obviously would have had to feel that prior to today. Wouldn't that be right?
At that point, shouldn't they have balked about a decade ago when MS started charging with the 360 and refused to pay it on principle?
Wouldn't you agree that for the people that believe that this would only be a "valid argument" now seem a bit late?
"permitted to announce"? that's not how it works. It was just a misunderstanding.
I'd say there's more people in this thread laughing at those twitter fools than people that are legit upset
They don't make money on console hardware and Xbox controllers have been the go to option for PC gaming for years.
The coolest part is as someone who buys physical I can buy the game for 60 bucks on Xbox One, get my windows code as well and then trade in the game for 30 bucks and still have it on PC. I wonder if people will abuse this.
I think I lost you somewhere. Microsoft cares because now they only get sales from the first party games when you only buy PC but with consoles they get a part of the third party sales as well. One exclusive on PC versus one exclusive and several third party on console for sales .
I don't think we're talking about profit per sale but rather recouping the costs of the console. So not making profit on console hardware is one thing but not selling consoles @$349 and not making any money back is something entirely different and I don't think those types of losses are peanuts.
I honestly think Xbox is in a difficult transition period here. MSFT has to think of a way to grow the business and by putting their games/services on a bigger market (PC) i think it makes sense. It has to be annoying to certain xbox fans who care about having exclusives to play. I don't think that's silly if it's important to them than so be it.
Not to bring up PS in a Xbox thread but think about what the competition is doing: I know people balk at PSNow subscriptions at $100 but what happens when the PS4 catalog is available on demand on every (assumption) TV in everyone's house? The immediacy - it's instant AND NO HARDWARE NECESSARY (just the controller). The game is changing and companies have to find ways to grow/expand the market so they can keep selling them stuff.
My only concern is for the reputation that MSFT has with GFWL and the PC space.

Let me guess it requires Windows 10?
are we sure we're getting codes? if so I'm selling mine![]()
You didn't read correctly. It's only a DIGITAL pre-order bonus. Incentive for digital buyers
Yes as it is going to ONLY be available through the Windows 10 Store.
Nope, only digital pre-orders or if you buy the console or LE version...all of which I believe are digital copies.
Guess I'll sell the bone as this was the only thing commin out I care about.
I think it was always a valid argument, it's just even harder to swallow when high profile exclusives suddenly aren't exclusive anymore. It adds to that feeling of "why even own an Xbox?"
I don't understand people saying it's a good thing, it's definitely not, what's the point to have a Xbox One if all their games are on PC ? the point to have a console is their exclusive titles, if they aren't, buying one is useless, just get a PS4/PC and the problem is solved.
I think it's a good business for Microsoft as a all but not for Xbox owners.

I don't understand why this is an issue.
Right now, for $400 (Canadian) or less you can get this XBOX ONE box that allows you to play games/youtube/Netflix/Stream your play sessions online with Twitch/Basically Skype with other users all day long if you wanted too/And have a Facebook/G+ like Status page where you can share and update your friends on your hobby. Also have access to other TV shows and Movies on a MS Service.
Right out of the BOX! You get a controller and a headset. Heck, even a Kinect which is basically your glorified webcam. (Ok sure, you'll also pay for Gold so be it)
So who cares if that Exclusive game is now on the PC. Did you have enough money to build a new computer with a great gaming montior? Buy extra controllers? A head set for the computer? Are you comfortable with setting up games individually to get the best performance? You like troubleshooting your own computer setup when something doesn't work?
For me in the end, more people can play a game. That's great!
What this program needs is constant cross-play/buy. So if I buy it on PC, I can play with people on XBOX. And if I buy it on PC, I own it on XBOX as well. This needs to be standard. I'll play on both!
Well, so far this program only has a single player game. I'm sure if any other games turn into win10+Xbox one games that cross-play will work, just like with shadowrunWhat this program needs is constant cross-play/buy. So removing USP's is now good for a platform?
Didn't you hear? This is good for you.
Nadella isn't thinking about how to grow the gaming business as its own unit. He put it inside of the Windows division over a year ago, realigning it to help drive Windows growth and revenue.
I only wish Nintendo and Sony would do the same.

So glad some of us get this!
These guys sound delusional, and bitching so much against Microsoft now lol, as if they got totally betrayed
First, Xbox owners already have Xboxes so the question of "what's the point to have a Xbox One?" is moot..
Your response to what you highlighted isn't really the point here and it's a known quantity. It's market growth for the games on Windows (as well as xbox).
How is this a moot point? That user can sell his xbox on the 2nd hand market which equals no money for MSFT on a new system sale. He/she then cancels out the Gold membership. With no more xbox store in this persons home (no more console) there aren't any secondary transactions (movie rentals, dlc purchases, etc) that MSFT makes money from.
So one MAU gets replaced by another MAU and the business (from a single MAU) is at a standstill as it hasn't grown.

Perhaps I misinterpreted what you wrote, but it seemed like you were of the impression that Xbox is going to PC because that's what is good for Xbox. I was trying to say Nadella put Xbox on Windows because he's interested in seeing Windows succeed and he recognized gaming is a significant source of OS usage and revenue.
Everything the Xbox team does going forward will be because it has the aim to help Windows on the gaming front. That's the Xbox team's role now.
