With Quantum Break going PC who is ditching the X1 in favor of a new rig?

I sold my XB1 mid - late last year (after I played through Gears UE) because there was only two games coming in the next year I knew I'd play on it (Quantum Break and Scalebound), and with Scalebound delayed to 2017, and both coming to PC(?), I'd probably sooner buy a gaming PC than buy an XB1 again.

That's coming from a console gamer too, but after being underwhelmed by the OS and power of XB1, I'm more tempted in getting a PC for the first time in over 10 years (the last time I bought a PC was to play F.E.A.R.)

Certainly questioning if I even need an Xbox One at all. Been a waste of money for me.

Dead Rising 3's performance was horrible, then came to PC and was great.

D4 came to PC

Fable Legends coming (already came via Beta) to PC

Quantum Break coming to PC

If they port Sunset Overdrive, there will be no reasons left. And since that game didn't interest me enough to buy it, I'm not concerned.

I would sell it but I know as soon as I do they will have a reason to own one. At least I can play Perfect Dark XBLA on it. In fact Rare replay is the only reason for me to own an Xbox One.

And strangely enough, I thank Microsoft for this. As a PC gamer I appreciate the fact they are supporting it as a platform even at the cost of my previous additional love for the Xbox console.

damn didnt know fable beta was on pc, been playing on my xbox one lol, downloading on pc now!

Why would they make live free on consoles?

That's one of the biggest source of income for the Xbox division. They not going to throw that away.

One ecosystem is the goal, I'm sure the revenue from PC gamers buying games with gold will make up for anyone dropping out on the Xbox side.

Deffo get a gaming pc it really is a great investment. Microsoft just made your decision a little easier. If you put the money in you will be rewarded with amazing looking games :)

Already have a good PC, but I'm thinking about selling my XB1 and just using the money to buy a GPU upgrade down the line, there's been so much overlap with it and the PC that I almost never use it now.

Guess MS really doesn't want me to buy an XB1, releasing lots of XB1 games on PC, not complaining though, this should be great on PC.

Well, they obviously understand the consequences. They may not care to lose some Xbox sales as long as they sell Windows 10 games and encourage more people to upgrade (or move) to Windows 10.

Never bought an XB1 because the games I was interested in weren't coming out till this year.

Now I wouldn't need one.

And I love MS for it.

That's a big if. I'm not sure PC gamers will be interested in subscribing to something like that especially there isn't a guarantee that any good games will be out. They could use that subscription money instead to buy games on steam sales rather than subscribing to something.

Because there's only so many reasons to own a console in the first place? If there are only a few games on the X1 I want and the money I'd get from selling my X1 outweighs my desire to play those games and any games that would come to it in the future, why should I keep my console?

Then sell it and move on instead of acting like Microsoft is insulting you by releasing a game on both of their platforms.

The moment I got a 360 controller plugued on my PC was when I realized that I would no longer need a MS console at all, because I already had it.

Any intentions I had to buy one are all gone now.

At least Microsoft made the decision of not buying an Xbone easy, since all the games I'm interested are all confirmed for PC now.

Need all great exclusives/best versions (all Halo games, Raiden V, confirmation on Gears 4, etc) before I could consider getting rid of my XBO.

No, but I'll eventually build a rig some time down the line. I don't mind some exclusives coming out for PC, but MS does need to keep some games exclusive to justify the purchase for anyone who has a gaming rig + Xbox One.

I don't have an XB1, but I do have a PS4 and a pretty mediocre PC.

Honestly, this news just removed another reason to get an X1. I am being perfectly honest.

I'll just wait probably another year and upgrade my PC and get the game there.

so what i gather from this thread is that now those people in here rather play everything on PC?

ok, so next gen we shouldn't have any consoles then. Fuck all of them. We'll all be PC gaming.

So, Microsoft's strategy is truly the best strategy for gaming now since they're pushing some of their big Xbox games to PC platform?

Got it.

I'm on the verge of making a new rig. If Scalebound jumps to PC then there is no point in me owning the xb1. Talk about buyer's remorse.

Are we just assuming that every single xb1 title is going to end up on PC now?

No. Just MS IPs. I see nothing wrong with this. It's as if people are forgetting that Madden or NBA2K or some other 3rd party IP is still going to be on XB1 and some people prefer that as their console (as they are console gamers) and have XBL friends. Just because the MS IPs will be in another Microsoft Store doesn't negate those gamers at all.

With this and Gears of War 4 coming to PC, there pretty much isn't any reason for me to get an XBone. I'll be glad to support Microsoft and Xbox by buying their games for the PC. Hopefully, Sony will throw some love towards the PC too.

I was going to get an xbone once the price was right. Big, long time, Halo fan. These were the games that were going to be a nice addition to Halo once I got one.
With these games coming to PC, I may just upgrade my cpu/ motherboard (still rocking an i5-750k) instead of getting an xbone and put that off longer. Maybe by the time the price is right, they will have a slim model.

I don't think anyone is arguing with you bro so I don't know why you're getting defensive. As you said it's two different Eco-systems. The point I am making in this thread is that now there is two will you be staying with the console, going PC or both. As you can see there are those in every category

MS owned IP absolutely

Time to express the nonsense inside my head: I love collecting games and, for whatever reason, I prefer having the console versions sitting on my shelves. But today's news made build a r9 390x rig on amazon.

So no, I'm getting a new rig, but I'm not ditching my XB1 (or any other console) for PC. Maybe I'll just double dip :P

Already have a very good PC. At some point I considered buying an Xbox One, but at that time, there hadn't been enough good games released which seemed interesting to me.

Now I will just wait and see if Microsoft will release additional games on PC. I would buy the Halo games, and maybe the Forza games / Sunset Overdrive if they came to PC, but I wouldn't care too much if they won't be released for PC.

Fortunately, I have a pretty good rig that is just under recommended specs here (980 instead of 980 Ti), so I won't have to ditch my Xbox One per se; just need to buy the game on Steam instead :)

It's actually kind of funny; I bought a Xbox One primarily to play this and RotTR, and they both went to PC fast, or day 1. I should be angry if I use random twitter commentary to inform my thinking.

But I ain't even.

One Xbox exclusive coming to PC and we have a thread suggesting people are ditching their XboxOnes for new rigs? Majority of people play for the convenience.

It's free if you pre-order the digital one! Break your rule

Not ditching an Xbox One because I don't own one, but they're making it a lot easier for me to not buy one. There just isn't anything fully exclusive to the console that I have to play.

Wasn't really interested in getting a XboxOne this gen because their exclusives didn't interest me...or at least they didn't have enough for me to want to buy a whole console.

So holding out looks like it might work out for me and this gen looks like

PS4 + PSVR

and saving for a Super Gaming RIG and Vive or Rift to run VR games.

and that Rig should be able to run PC exclusives and some Microsoft exclusives at max settings.

What if Quantum Break is not worth the upgrade? I don't see much the point of selling a game system I have invested money into, to then proceed to spend a bunch of money upgrading a PC.

That's just me though, as Im not really big into PC gaming. It makes sense for people who don't have much use for the system, and were only keeping it for exclusives.

I think the better question is- Does this alter your plans to buy an XB1 in the future?

I can't see any positives in reducing exclusive reasons for owning the console.

Just browsing through these threads and I've seen this mentioned a lot, but I haven't seen any mention of a source for this. Is this just extrapolation, or is there hard intel behind this? Would be awesome if true

The Gamestop article that detailed Quantum Break coming to PC also mentioned Gears of War 4 and Scalebound coming to PC.

They later said it was a mistake and edited it.

Most of their 2016 lineup is coming to PC:

Quantum Break (Xbox One & Windows 10) – April 5, 2016
Halo Wars 2 (Xbox One & Windows 10) – Fall 2016
Fable Legends Open Beta (Xbox One & Windows 10) – Spring 2016
ReCore (Xbox One & Windows 10) – 2016
Sea of Thieves (Xbox One & Windows 10) – 2016
Gigantic (Xbox One & Windows 10) – 2016
Cuphead (Xbox One & Steam) - 2016
Killer Instinct: Season 3 (Xbox One & Windows 10) – March 2016
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Windows 10) – Spring 2016
Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition (Xbox One & Windows 10) – Spring 2016
Cobalt (Xbox One, Xbox 360 & Steam) – Feb. 2, 2016

The only exceptions:
Gears of War 4 (Xbox One & that Gamestop leak tho) – Multiplayer Beta in Spring 2016/Launch in Fall 2016
Crackdown 3 (Xbox One) – Multiplayer in Summer 2016

The gaming market would be identical to where it is now. Do you think the hardcore audience makes up a significant portion of the user base for consoles or retail sales?

I don't think the majority of console owners are gaming enthusiasts, no. However I think the PC gaming audience would see a reasonably significant growth due to every freaking game being on it in that hypothetical situation.

Goddamn, Microsoft is publishing eleven games on PC in 2016. ELEVEN.
