Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc PC |OT| It's getting Steamy in here...

yah

I'll leave that stuff to those who have the time and effort, but at least I've confirmed now how easy it is....and how all the character artwork is unchanged from the vita release lol

Mods would be amazing. I'd love to see a mod that changes the killers/victims and continues the story on with those changes in mind. Could be amazing.

Absolutely loving the game and japanese audio.
But Monokuma's voice sounds WAY TOO MUCH like Cartman or Princess Kenny from South Park. I can't stop laughing when he talks.

yeah, everything is there out in the open to be messed with! just looking into the files now

Anyone got any videos of a 60fps class trial? Just watching some gameplay and its so smooth... Still have my Vita version though. :)

Yasuhiro is awesome

Totally has the vibe of someone that is going to be offed early though. Hopefully not :(

Is there a option on the program to extract everything at once?

For anyone who has already played the vita versions of the game, what are the 16 songs included in the soundtrack? I'm assuming it's the same as the one included with the original NISA LE? As I recall, some were a bit spoiler-y in the original soundtrack, so maybe spoiler tag if anyone can answer.

I dunno what was in the LE, but here are the tracks. I don't think there are any spoilers:

The controller input is a little screwy on my Xbox One pad. It's an intermittent thing but right now, the game will skip to the next line of dialogue if I press the A button before the text finishes scrolling. It should just immediately display all text on first press, then skip to the next line on the second press.

Yeah, this. It's a bit annoying but at least the text speed isn't terribly slow so it isn't much of a issue.

I'm getting an issue where it will occasionally act like my A button is stuck (and as a result, continually skip text) until I press it again. It's really annoying. I've been assuming that it was an issue with the Steam Controller (because its software is a buggy piece of junk), but maybe the game just has a bunch of input bugs.

Careful when opening Steam overlay with Shift+Tab. Shift is the skip key and when opening the steam overlay the game will act like you are continously pressing shift.

Is it correct that the only way to buy this right now is to buy the Danganronpa+Soundtrack bundle? I see no option to buy the game alone. Or is this bundle basically the 'normal' package and there won't be a lower-price non-soundtrack option?

yes, the mini-OST is a bonus right now. MSRP is $30 for the game alone.

This game is a pain to play using my Laptop touchpad.

Switched to my PC controller and it's like night and day. Not going back to keyboard for this game.

BOOOOM

Unpacked the WAD! Same format as hotline miami

mods incoming

Wait, wad files? What is this, Doom? Where's All the Data?

Though I wonder what mods could really be done... I dunno how the engine would handle textures and sprites being larger.

Is anyone else getting a weird ripple effect when playing at 1080p? It's like the game isn't quite rendering at that res, and its doing a small bit of upscaling.

Game seems likely to be doing well. Peaked at around 1k concurrent players, which, while not a lot in general, blows pretty much every other VN on Steam out of the water.

Granted, the genre isn't exactly the zeitgeist, everyone plays the shit out of it on launch day type of game, but still a fairly good sign overall.

Well, I got this game. I just finished the prologue and I'm not sure I like it. It's a really interesting premise but just too STRANGE. The characters in particular just seem like really extreme archetypes.

Oh, and Mac users: it runs PERFECTLY in Wineskin. PM me if you need help setting it up, it's really easy.

Huh? I installed it on my Mac and it's running fine without me having to do anything.

I attempted to use the WAD tool to replace Makoto's sprite with Triple H, but the game crashes whenever I try to load the game with a modified WAD.

Hopefully someone figures this out, lol.

Play to the end of the first trial. That's the point where you know if you like the game or not.

Did you keep the tga file format and size exactly the same?

So... there goes any chance to patch the game with higher res sprites ? :")

Nope, that's not what I said. I mean we need to start with the basics and see what can be used without whacking any old super hi res image of Stone Cold Steve Austin or whoever into the game and expecting it to work

I did a little bit of checking, I think the OGL renderer is a bit better than the DX9 one. It doesn't have that weird ripply-shimmery effect, though I'd need to get to another class trial with all the crazy effects to see if it gets worse there.

Speaking of the class trials, I just got to the first execution... Holy hell. No spoilers, but the cutscenes in this game are freaking fantastic. The art and animation are seriously great, it really sucked me in to what was going on.

Extracted all of the character portraits from the game. Looks like we can improve some stuff here!

Here's an example of Waifu2x upscaling, looks great on every one I've tried. I'll see if I can do them all as a batch and maybe then make a patch to upload here for it once I get round to it. If anyone else has the time to do it (I am busy all weekend apart from tonight), feel free.

also...there's a load of shit I haven't seen before. including (spoiler)
character portraits for Usami. Since when was she in DR1?!

obviously. it's the massive ENGLISH / JAPANESE selection you get immediately when you select a new game. How did you miss it?

You know, my reading comprehension tells me that if I pick JAPANESE then the game will be IN JAPANESE. Not just the dub. "LANGUAGE"

The game itself is always in English, but you can select between English and Japanese VOs as soon as you start a new game.
Thanks, that's the answer I wanted

Afaik
she makes a cameo appearance at the end of School Mode.
I never finished that myself, so I can't say for certain.

but the steam page clearly states the text is only available in english. Also, it's been stated numerous times in this thread (including by myself more than once) that the JP dub is available.

anyhow, enough of that. play it!

v.80 of the tool can patch it. bear in mind however that you've got it as a jpg there. you're gonna want it as a .*PNG, and then you're going to obviously have to use photoshop to save it as a TGA with the exact same colour depth settings for it to work.

okay, the thread is 10 pages and I did not see that note on Steam, my fault.
Just started, I'm sure I'll like it :)
