Well, first of all I never said I would kill someone with it, it acts as a pretty decent deterrent, secondly, nobody knows that the sword is just a bokken and wakizashi is just hardened polymer (the same one that is used for making police battons) since they are both in a sheath, still, a good knock on the head with either will send anyone running.
I am not. Medieval reenactment is huge in Easter Europe, you routinely see people in full mail walk around the cities with halberds and swords. Therefore, our legislation has no clause that prevents people from carrying cold weapons.

Do the little wave to him but I sorta wonder if openly displaying stuff like that is a good idea that late at night. I've seen him playing for 2 years now so I guess everything is ok.
Personally I take nothing on my walk, totally empty pockets. Of course my dog is pretty big and can bite through bone and I'm a big guy so never been worried.
If you are really concerned and worried you could look into buying a gun and getting a CCW permit, but thats a whole big can of worms especially on gaf.

I'm pretty sure Its not planned because I don't play it in public anyway, I just use it for street pass. And its not a FE 3DS, its a 3DSXL with a fire emblem birthright that I just bought today. These things take time.
Carrying a knife as a deterrant is the quickest way to get yourself stabbed. It would only be effective as an actual last resort. The people confronting you shouldn't ever be able to see the knife until it's in them, so to speak.
In any other situation, waving it around is only more likely to escalate the situation. Now instead of a robbery, you're having a knifefight. And trust me, swinging it around in front of your bedroom mirror like Naruto isn't going to prepare you for a bunch of violent muggers intent on stealing your belongings. You might as well have given them the knife.

Exactly this. Especially as OP mentioned he got pepper sprayed, if you pull out a weapon while disoriented, you're going to get stabbed with that weapon.
I got attacked when I was a teenager. Immediately gave them my phone and wallet. Not going to risk being beaten or killed for a shitty phone and £20. I never carry cash either, only a debit card, if they can guess my pin, good job, I'll have gotten it cancelled by that point anyway.

I've worked in some pretty bad areas where at points I've carried a knife, pistol, and often both. Some punk ass guys came up to me once and when I made the move for the pistol they took off running. Of course you shouldn't pull a weapon of any type unless you are prepared to use it, which I was.
Unless the aggressor has a personal vendetta against you they want your belongings with as little resistance as possible. Any sign that you aren't an easy target usually causes them to flee. Most aren't going to get into a life or death knife fight for a wallet.
