Carrying a knife as a deterrant is the quickest way to get yourself stabbed. It would only be effective as an actual last resort. The people confronting you shouldn't ever be able to see the knife until it's in them, so to speak.

So you think people are looking to get themselves killed just because they see someone with a bigger blade than what they have? Why would anyone steal large blades that are hard to conceal?

If I'm ever attacked my first option is always to kill and cripple as many as possible as fast as possible. I'm just too old to run away at this point. I'm always feeling lucky.
