Trump has a lot of stuff against him in the GE

1 The GOP has a hard time in the GE anyway, due to demographics. The big population states and even most of the swings states are either heavy Democrat (except Texas), or slightly Dem leaning.

2 He has absolutely no appeal with minorities, and he burned that bridge back at the start. There's no walking back from that, especially not on a voting block that already swayed Democrat. Minorities are required to win the presidency, and will continue to be even more required as time goes on and the population changes.

3 Once Trump gets the nomination, he'll be forced to take GOP money and campaign for down ticket candidates and he's not going to like that and his supporters are not going to like that. If he refuses the money, he loses, no questions asked. It will bankrupt him. If he takes the money, he loses huge appeal with the people who got him nominated because now he's part of the establishment.

1: Not as much of a factor with Trump as that candidate, certainly less than with any other Republican candidate.

2: True for the most part, but Trump post-primaries can change his tune big time. Even with the stuff he said before; not to get the minority vote back, but to get the moderate vote. He'll get extra votes that Republicans wouldn't have gotten usually from white undecided voters and moderates, who are more likely to go and vote if they support him than if another Republican candidate had won and who may not have gone out to vote for either of the Democrat candidate. The minorities weren't going to vote for Republicans anyway, but he'll just get more votes than Republicans would have gotten usually from the left or middle.

3: "Taking the money" is not a problem: he's going to do a massive people-funding campaign there's no doubt about it, and he'll take money from the establishment and his supporters will be fine with it at that point. They don't expect him to be self-funded all the way, this is a non-issue because Trump is prepared for that. It's necessary to beat the Dems, and everyone knows that already. He'll say "they're giving me money cause they have to otherwise they'll end up with the worst president ever: Hillary/Bernie".
