Okay so Zangiefs CA. What can you do about it? Had a Zangief jump on me and I hit him with c.HP but once he landed he did CA and I tried to jump out of it but no. Checked replay with inputs and I didn't push any buttons before he activated CA and I started jumping immediately during the cinematic.

Maybe they knew the servers were gonna be crap. Or maybe just another feature they yet to finish like much of the game.

People complain about quitters now, but imagine if they were losing points because of the servers crapping out, the complaints would be much worse.

yea, that's true. I'm seriously hoping the March update is when things change for the better.

So, I'm using this game as a way to break my father into fighting games. For some ungodly reason, he's chosen to main Zangief, a character with which I'm not familiar at all. Anyone got any useful tips for him? He can't pull off his critical art, and I'm really not used to full circle inputs.

As for myself, I'm having a hard time incorporating specials into combos, which is weird since I don't usually struggle with that in other fighting games. Is the timing different in SF? I'm used to inputting a string of moves ahead of time, but that doesn't seem to be working very well, even for something as simple as cr. MK -> Hadoken.

Well lets just say a loss in SFIV would cost you -50 points, if you DCed you instead would lose about -90 points.

So if points were your goal, taking the loss was a better option.
Unless of course you're LowTierGod and you'd rather take that hit and not give the win points to the other player because they "didn't earn it" by:

a) ...using a charge character
b) ...just waiting for him to push a button / perform a move and reacting
c) ...having a low IQ
d) ...throwing (as we all know teching a throw is impossible, especially in SFIV)
e) ...reasons

Can't wait to see how that Salt-Starved Beast manages in SFV; the mere thought of it makes me grin like Bipson.

GGs! Zangief is such a different character in V i feel.
Yea you rekted me. I didn't know his grab special or w.e that moved was took priority over regular grabs. Your bison was just nasty though. You should use him in ranked. I will make sure to add you to my friends list or favorites

It's a "1 frame" grab super, which means you have to jump before the flash. When the animation starts, it's already too late.

Q1 2017

I'm so in for this. How much do their figures usually go for?

so, who wants a first to 10 (or more!) with my trash Rashid or my trash Necalli or my trash <insert character name here>?

Im trash

It's gotta be a lot of work to manually disconnect your PS4/PC/reconnect it the reconnect and get back online. It's a lot of effort over something as trivial as a Street Fighter ranking so that you can play against players you clearly don't have the ability to compete against.

Seems like such a ridiculous thing to do.

Seriously I wonder if these type of people just play with their router right next to them so they can pull the plug at a moments notice.

Quoting this because no one replied. Can anyone give me any advice? Even if it means counterpicking. Haha.

Of all the matchups I struggle with as Rashid, it's Ryu and Ken.

The DP is such a great answer to many of Rashid's approaches. I can be ambiguous and aggressive, but if they DP it, then that basically shuts me down. It's giving me quite a hard time lately.

The problem is, that Rashid's light hit confirms don't amount to much. So if they guess correctly even 1/2 of the time then they have a net damage gain, on me. My light confirms do 100 damage, Ryu's EX DP does something like 160. My medium confirms do something like 210 damage, but the they don't start low, they're not ambiguous, and if employed as a block string they can mash DP to escape and hit me.

What do I do? Even if I bait them out it feels as though I need to do so much work to earn the damage.

Yeah it does get priority but you can grab me out of it and i think even lp me out of it. You have a pretty good ken too and thanks! I added you as well. Shoot me an inv whenever

Banana singlehandedly makes the Gief match tolersble for Birdie.

For the guy with a new dad- have him try Birdie. Simplest combos in the game, high hp, big damage.

I don't know if I mentioned this but for any bison players who are having issues with hard/hell survival. You can loop cr jab cr strong cr strong stand fierce xx rh scissors. It works consistently enough to basically get through hard. Use Devil's reverse to knock them down when ever needed as the cpu for some reason will almost never block it.The gaps between cr strong, st fierce and rh scissors hit the cpu fairly consistently. Hopefully someone will find this information of use.

If a DC can deduct points like a loss, couldn't it also award the person who stayed with points? That's probably the ideal solution. Just treat the disconnect like that player resigning from the match.

Wat...

Appears as though Birdie doesn't lose a bar of meter when he whiffs an EX command grab... need to test and verify. If true I wonder if that's the case with other characters' EX command throws.

NRS ... Capcom, please.

Is that actually an EX grab, though, or something else? It looks odd, as he just flashes yellow, instead of being yellow during the entire first half of the wiffed grab animation, which is normally the case with that grab.

Bruh I tried grabbing you will got up every time but it didn't work on your Zangief. But thanks

Oh boy. Better just try not to get cornered by him.

The trade-off being the 720° motion required to activate it. Gotta do something to prevent the jump (ie. purposely whiff s.hk).

Got to Silver rank last night, which was nice. My boy Rashid is putting in work. Still some good players in low bronze, which surprised me. A 800 point Mika delayed my league up by a couple of matches.

what do you guys do when you start a match and it is LAGGED as fuck? you keep fighting? I keep fighting, but when it is really, really slow, I just have to quit, they might think it is rage quit, but I swear it is not. It is just impossible to play when it takes literally 6 seconds for an input to show up on screen
Nah man, it's good. No need to put up with a stupidly laggy match.

That definitely looked like his EX command grab.

Hmm you're right it does flash quite quickly... could just be a weird input bug or a bug where the regular command grab mistakenly flashes. Strange.

Rashid has a decent zoning game himself right? Use that more, he's not pure rush down but seems to be a decent all-around character IMO. Anyway the Rashids that beat me usually did so with frame traps, and a few tricky wall bounce mixups, go to the lab and see what's Rashids frame trap setups and go from there. You really shouldn't be all about Rushdown though, you can back up a little and bait a DP every now and then.

C. HP safe on block
Round house safe on block
Stand MP & HP safe on block and MP leaves you at +
And using his wall jump in the corner can be tricky and confusing to block against

I'm not a good Zangief fighter, but...

-Zangief must be close to opponents, to maximize his power.

-His main struggles are projectiles but he can use the Lariat or the headbutt

-His fierce punch can be charged, and it has armor.

-The spinning piledriver has a shortcut, you can do 412369 instead of the full circle to piledrive your opponent. This is great from defense. It is important to practice this move. If you do this same move, but wait a little moment to press punch, you can do the air piledrive instantly.

-About the CA, well, practice. I can do it only from jump.
