I wonder if that pushes Rubio to third. In my heart of hearts that would be my ideal result.

I saw this tweet from a reporter a few hours ago and immediately thought of the time where PoliGAF discussed the "endorsements=antiendorsements" phenomenon for this GOP cycle..

David Catanese @davecatanese
Guy in line told me he watched the news last night and saw the endorsements for Rubio/mainstream media pushing him. So won't vote for him.

Is anyone here expecting Kasich or Carson to drop out tonight?

Kasich has no reason to drop out because he hasn't campaigned at all in SC and NV. He's looking to stick until Super Tuesday or his home state Ohio primaries.
Question: Will an Establishment Republican 3rd party candidate emerge if Trump continues to dominate?
lolno.

Establishment cannot go third party. That will cut off RNC funding.

No.
The establishment is invested in the party, many of them owe their livelihood to it.

They might focus on down ballot candidates and maybe try to lowkey distance themselves from Trump, but really, it all depends on polling, the real problem they have with Trump is that they think he's unelectable.

It just set in for me. Trump is going to be the GOP nominee. Cruz might compete in Texas. Rubio might compete in Florida. But all the rest of the states are Trumps with him getting about 50%.

CNN said earlier that Trump is actually currently leading in polls in Texas. I mean, if he pulls that off, it has to be done, right?

The beginning of the end for the GOP. Glorious.

Maybe if Rubio drops. I guess. I don't know. It would probably take a two man race for Cruz to get 51%.

Also, Fox News hasn't been back on air in the last 7 minutes. They are freaking out. They went to break at 10:57 central time.

If Trump wins in Texas it's a Done deal.

It's going to be Trump v Clinton

It's ridiculous that a xenophobic zealot who has bankrupted numerous times is somehow an actual nominee for President in this country. Land of opportunity (for rich white people), I guess.

One of my favorite parts of tonight thus far: a chorus of reporters/commentators on Twitter mocking Rubio's claiming of "victory" when he yet again fails to win a contest.

I mean

If he's bankrupted multiple times and yet manages to stay and become richer, that speaks for his ability to make money atleast.

Ralston: "We may have results by tomorrow afternoon". lololol called within 1 second

Told you guys don't follow this idiot. Remember how he was saying all the big crowds mean good news for Bernie!!11 Hopefully we don't have to hear from him for the next 4 years.

I know right. He ran with a racist campaign and it resonated with the GOP as they have a Canadate that is openly racist.

His wealth is, IIRC, around 40% lower than if he had simply invested in the S&P and done fuck all.

He doesn't get brownie points for making investment decisions with returns below the market rate.

Well, Fox has no clue what to do with Trump and his popularity. They spent a good almost two decades cultivating a voter base who would actually support the insane shit he spews and now that they support him and not their talking head candidates, they're terrified. They don't want what they actually support to be so out in the open and they can't control Trump. Part of me would be quite tinkled pink if this puts the final nail in this party that has been ruining our country for decades now.

They can't control what has happened and the party itself has already become insanely fractured because of their own propaganda campaigns. They also aren't gaining any momentum from new voters as they are all largely democrat and support the leftist views on numerous social and economic issues. Their party is dying and they are absolutely horrified at the prospect of that happening. It's happened before, the Federalist party went from being huge to never having a presence again very very quickly.

I mean

It has less to do with his ability to make money and more to do with sheer dumb luck and bullying people til he gets his way. Sometimes pretty much breaking the law while doing so.

Well, it's not surprising it resonated with the GOP exactly. Fox has cultivated racism for almost two decades now. Fox is just pissed they have no control over Trump and that he's actually speaking out loud what they actually believe.
