Street Fighter V |OT2| Another Fight Isn't Coming Your Way!

Hey man, long time no see in SF-land! We should practice sometimes! I have a crappy Cammy, a moderately bad Karin, and of course, a parry-happy Ryu and a very amateur Chun-Li! : D
Definitely! Getting back on the SF train. USF4 didn't click for me as it got too bloated. Nice to jump into some vanilla action again.

I only play crappy mashy Bison at the moment because I can't play anything else but charge characters. Usually I get some SF time during the evenings. Add me to PSN and/or CFN.

Top 5 stylish Critical Arts:
1. Birdie
2. Nash
3. Mika
4. Rashid
5. Cammy

....
15. Zangief
16. Laura

Solid list. However, I think Laura's is fun. Also, Claw has the best Critical Art in the entire game. Probably the best cinematic super in any Street Fighter ever.

Anyone had issues with "Unable to create Battle Lounge" - or, if you manage to create one "Disconnected from Battle Lounge" ?

I can play on casual or ranked just fine, and I could play on battle lounge up until yesterday evening. Both me and my friend tried it this evening and it's still not working for us :(

Tried creating a lounge and before it disconnected sent an invite, but when he tried to connect it timed out. Once or twice one of us created a lounge with specific settings and the other searched and found no results.

Bison's feels like they looked at the one cinematic in SF x TK and said "That's good enough".

Yes. My lounges haven't been perfect, but got noticeably worse yesterday.

I assume others are having this problem?

Ugh, servers must be messed up. Got to 4250 LP doing a round of ranked matches, and I see that I'm still at 4016 when I go back to the main menu. Also, says I have 0 LP, I'm a Rookie and my favorite character is Ryu when I check my Fighter Profile.

Had the same issue earlier today. I've decided to wait for Capcom's update before touching this game again.

During a ranked match, the correct amount of LP will be listed, but not on the main menu or in my Fighter profile.

Yeah same, but not 0 lp but 1648.

You're saying it says 1648 on this menu, right?
3g4juif.jpg
It says 4016 on the main menu, but 0 in the Fighter Profile, even though I actually currently have 4098.

I guess I should assume this will be fixed eventually.

Guess it's just another mess, then. Thanks.

Any tips on doing doing sim's instant teleport. I always end up too high, and can't complete the combo to low fierce or back mk.

I can't fathom doing the motion any faster. I'm using up -forward as my forward for the dp motion.

I'd put Mika in the Good category, she really has no answers for Karin's buttons in the mid-range and is probably Karin's single best matchup IMO. She's forced to jump to get in and that's not good for her.

I'd probably also put Bison, Ken and Ryu all in the neutral section. Bison has no reversal other than V-reversal, mediocre AA and his normals are slower than Karin's, anytime Karin gets in Bison is forced to go defensive and has to guess to get out. Ryu's an exercise in patience, you can react to fireballs to punish them and force him to play in close where you can bully with your buttons a bit more, same with Ken. Ken's got better mobility but at the same time he can be punished more often doing random runs.

I'd move Chun down to Bad along with Claw. Both completely shut down Karin's buttons at the ranges she wants to be in. Karin is forced to guess in both matchups to get in. Claw struggles more once you're in than Chun does though. I think Chun is Karin's worst matchup, she basically does everything Karin wants to do better and at longer range.

How we perceive match-ups at this point is going to have a lot to do with how we play and the quality of our opponents. I play a very defensive game with her, so I probably lose more than I need to in certain match-ups where an offensive approach is better (EG: Bison, who has a 58% winrate over Karin in ranked right now).

I have a 71% winrate vs Chun and a 60% winrate over Vega. I don't challenge their buttons. Orochi pressure and gaining the corner is how you win those matches IMO. I can't press buttons, but I have a proactive gameplan, which is more than I can say for the shotos.

The Ryu match (IMO, the hardest for Karin) demands that the Ryu player make mistakes. She has zero answer to fireball pressure in the midrange. Ressenha is useless if he's closer than mid-screen. You need a good read, and if the Ryu player is any good, he's varying his timings and expecting a jump in or Ressenha attempt - both are fully punishable for up to 500 damage. He hits like a truck and she has the lowest life and second lowest stun in the game.

Which is why I also hate Bison. One CC, and the round is basically over. I'm willing to admit maybe I'm respecting him too much, though. I've known for a while he has bad wake-up options.

Well my stream was 50/50.

I learned some matchups, some tells and how to approach and unlearn some bad habits as well as how cammy's normals work.

I went below 900 LP afterwards.

However I felt that Im actually improving in terms of learning how to play properly and not sloppy.

I got a list of things to work on next time:
-Cross up combos
-countering Cross ups
- STOP SWEEPING
-Learn to use pokes and jabs correctly
-Stop getting thrown (Seriously if im within throw range Im fucked)
-Be more offensive (since Im mostly reactive)
-Be Mindful of meter (Since 80% of the time I dont even mean to do a crtical art)
-Learn more matchups (WHY CANT I BEAT YOU NASH!!!?)

Maybe next time I'll get back to ultra bronze again. I dont even understand how I got within silver range that last time.

Thanks for all the help in the chat guys, even though I lost many easy matches. Im trying to do better.

I can't think of a single reason to use an analog stick, no matter how good, over a d-pad for a 2D fighting game.
I actually switched from playing on stick for about 5 years on a pretty decent level to using a Xbox One controller with the analogue stick. I like it a lot...

I'm leveling up a little! This was a big win for me. (first vid)

Spazzing on the EX at the very end is incredibly embarrassing. Panic lariat bailed me out. I don't know what he was thinking doing Vskill when I have Trigger active.

The guys at SRK are schooling me on my mistakes, I'm using the wrong pressures on wakeup and what not. But from where I was before to now is a huge difference.

Second video is for fellow scrub tiers who may not truly realize how good and important their fast normals are. The Vega is admittedly bad, but watch how I keep him almost completely off me just with jabs. Then once I have fought him long enough to get some reads I catch him in the air a few times.

Also notice that a little after the start of rd2 I start fucking around trying to land HP. I had just been in the lab with it and really wanted to land it. As SOON as I start doing that, watch how he opens me up. I go back to jabs, and immediately regain control of the match.

Edit - @mnz - I'm a stick guy for life... but I was just messing around the other day with remote play and the VITA DPAD is godly for Gief. GODLY. It rolls 360 so naturally and easily. Obv some other stuff is much harder than it should be, but I was pretty amazed.

Even worse, it's a ripoff of fucking Blanka. She's the reason I am 100% sure selectable supers are on the (distant) horizon.
I, for one, was really disappointed when we got Laura instead of Blanka. Gotta give Onto credit for that setup, though. It would have been perfect if not for the leak spoiling the surprise.

So as a Vega player when I jump in and my opponent blocks what ever I do, they start to jab me and I just can't seem to escape the hits.

Any advice as it's becoming ridiculous especially when zangief or Birdie block most of my moves and jab me to victory

Your own jabs should come out before theirs if you hit them with a jump in and they block and you immediately follow up with a jab. If they're in neutral, just step back and hit them from outside the range of their jabs

Why even bother to break someone's arm if she's also electrocuting them.

I feel like they have it reversed. Like if she started rolling around between different submission like grabs while going faster and faster and it turned in to the Blanka thing... that would have been way cooler.

That's a little much for it though better than what we got

Do you also enjoy natural disasters, Birdman verses and sequels to funny movies?

Im wondering how she's bouncing against invisble walls.

Ugh, I feel like this is the one fundamental thing I need to drill into my brain. I'm too happy to throw out sweeps.

I need tips on how to beat Bison with Ken. Whenever he gets close to me, I'm done. He frametraps me to death. Every single time I try to poke out I'm out poked and comboed to death because he has better hit confirms. I fucking hate him.

Really feel like just quitting the match right when it starts when I see someone who's extremely likely to be a rage quitter, or who I am aware is one.

Not that the points are all that important but it's nice that I can try switching to Necalli, lose 75% of my matches as him and then switch back to Vega and recuperate the point loss in like two wins, at least around the scrubby land of bronze.
Might try mixing it up more often, also I was supposed to just play for like 15 minutes which became 2 hours.

After several normal playthroughs with characters that aren't my mains I find that getting close to the CPU is a must. Once you close in you just need to make them block a crouching light normal. Then you have to use a crouching medium normal that will let you combo into a special. A combination of this, grabs (very good against characters with no DP like Bison and Nash) and overheads will do the trick. Bison, Zangief, Nash and Birdie at high levels are the worst because of their health and random high damage combos out of nowhere, but you have to make them play your game. I advise you to prioritize the health bar once you are at level 25 or over. Attack+2/3 are understandable options only if you have 70% health or more imo. Also, don't every try to go in on Bison in the neutral once you reach level 30 (or level 50). Wait for scissor kicks so you can punish it and then you can start temporary shenanigans, but back off immediately the moment he blocks. The only time a mindreading CPU is unsafe is after an unsafe move. At all other times you may as well be boxing with a professional boxer.

I will keep this in mind, cheers.
Typically I don't go for attack up options, I'd sooner stick with defence if my health was up to par.

I need someone to make a video about when you can actually punish Bison. Most of the Bisons I play can get away with free pressure because I don't know when it's my turn to attack. Just yesterday I had a guy spamming buttons on me and then jumping for the crossup on repeat, and I couldn't figure it out since he was either safe or his barrage of attacks had pushed him back too far to punish. He'd either teleport dash into grab, or I'd try to poke and he'd get a counter hit combo.

Anyone want to run a FT10? I warn you, I am practicing my Ryu, who I haven't used in years! I am DashGigas on Steam if anyone wants to invite me or vice versa.

I go into those matches with a mindset of "if I lose to this scrub with an inflated lp, I'm shit and deserve to lose"

Gief players: best options for dealing with crossup pressure? I find lariat is stuffed pretty hard in this game. St. jab will whiff if they're already above you. Should I just block and reestablish ground? Haven't tried using red muscle yet for crossups, maybe I'll give that a shot.

We can try if the connection is decent. I'm from Brazil so that might be a problem. My ID is Syntsui and I'll be on in a few minutes.

Edit: Wtf I am getting errors while I try to create a battle lounge, unfuckingreal.

Anytime he does a non-EX scissors and you block, it's your turn.

Anytime he does a crouching mk or roundhouse and you block, it's your turn.

He'll push himself out as he attacks, eventually you can back-dash or jump out.

Learn how far his dash will go. You can get to the point that you can on reaction punish his dashes at you. This is a big one.

He has no overhead, so crouch once he's on the ground.

Nice stun setup for Mika: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFBaF9DzscI (via James Chen)

Notation, in case anyone's interested:

j.HP, s.MP <link> s.HP xx V-trigger, f.MK, jump, j.LK (delay slightly), walk backwards slightly, s.MP, f.MPxxIrish Whip, backdash, S.HK (charge)xx EX Wingless Airlplane.

Also stuns with EX Flying Peach at the end, which I found a bit more reliable. That could just be me. Hardest part was doing figuring out the j.LK and walk backwards timings.&#65279;

I've only just realized you get fight money for casual matches. Why have I been putting up with the shitty ranked games for all of this time?!
