Oh man, Gal's weight

Dark and unfun

We just need like someone to say this will be a trainwreck or looks bloated

And it's like a best of BvS hype thread!

Get your generic regurgitated criticisms out of here and learn to think for yourself

He's not really wrong with the muted colors in daylight bit then is he?

What's muted? You have vibrant reds contrasting with yellow hues for effect. You have a pretty standard looking daytime scene when Superman is arriving for the hearing, with his suit clearly popping out with color.

Even some of the "darker scenes" have a lot of color vibrancy.

Just because something has been color corrected doesn't mean it has been muted.

It doesn't even look interesting dark. At least Nolan had themes with some substance. This looks like an angsty power fantasy turned up to 11. Even the aesthetic isn't interesting. It's all darkness, rain, shadows, muted colors in daylight.

Is this enough color for you?

Color theory? Lol. Are you for real right now man?

Well, I mean if you want to use correct terminology and make sure your criticism is accurate before you say something, then yea, I think you should take a color theory class.

Edit: I know I am sounding a little direct, but you are just being flat out incorrect. I don't know what else to tell you.

Wait so I need to read about some shit called color theory before I can comment on the color scheme of a movie? Huh ... We've reached all new levels of fanboyism in this thread.

It's not about being correct or incorrect, he's been trolling the shit out of every bvs thread since forever. Now I'm just waiting for an avatar quote

I have? You are mistaking me for someone else. I rarely even post here.

Nah dude. I'll tell you what happened in this thread. I shared a link to an extended trailer for the movie where I said I think based on all that footage that the movie is going to suck and then the dogpile began. I didn't know you had to have positive things to say about this movie before being allowed to post in here.

It has nothing to do with fanboyism. You literally don't know what you are talking about. If you don't want to educate yourself on the terminology you are using incorrectly, you can't be helped, and you just come off as sounding stupid. Sorry.

I don't think it's particularly out of bounds to suggest they're not marketing the film all that well.

I've posted along those lines myself more than a couple times, and I think no matter what they do in the trailers, they're kinda hemmed in by the fact they gave the film that stupid fucking title, and it pretty much dictates how you sell the goddamn thing. So the movie looks like an angry, rainy fight between two people you're supposed to like.

But I don't think the film looks particularly dark and drab, either. Tonally it seems way more serious than it actually is, but visually it looks really good.

Sorry dude I have seen enough movies and have been around long enough to to recognize a muted color palette. I don't need to read about color theory to hold the opinion.

Grim Dark, Too Dark are useless criticisms that make absolutely no sense. It is not a pre-requisite for a comic book movie to be colorful ( not that this does not have color ). This movie visually looks superb, distinct and appropriate for the themes that is going for and more importantly does not look like any of the dime a dozen super hero movies that are released each year. There are plenty of shortcomings Synder has but visuals are not one of them. The guy has an immaculate visual style.

I mean, a person can say they've been outside enough to recognize that the sky is green. Doesn't make it correct.

I would agree on the tone of the film, but the visuals definitely have a richer color palette than Man of Steel. It still has that heavily saturated look though that most Snyder films have, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. When people talk about the color palette in this film specifically being muted, I think they are really referring to Snyder's heavy use of shadows and color correction/saturation, which is different, but they are making that connection to his previous films.

Grimdark is not merely an appraisal of the visual style. It's also about tone, mood and atmosphere as well.

Some people don't like how Snyder films look, specially when they are lensed by Larry Fong. I personally love how they look, because they have these super stylized visuals and it gives these movies a distinct look.

Watchmen is easily the best looking cbm for me.

For instance TDK looks amazing, but it's not the kind visual style I want for CBM. I want something more stylized that tries to mimic the art of comic books in some way.

But to each his own, I guess. Oh, the Hellboy movies look amazing to me, too. Forgot about those.

Bro

The problem with Batman V Superman is that it's almost too good.

I really don't understand why based on this trailer, which is just images without any real focus, people all of a sudden think this movie looks good.

Eisenberg looks terrible. Story seems like it's all over the place. Snyder don't have the storytelling chops to pull something like this off.

Still looks stupid but I'll see it anyway because what the fuck eh
Batman action looks nice I guess? Zack Snyder blows

haha. ok. boat scene.

Your post does nothing but prove my point.

and what is yours?

yeah I think it would help. it's painfully obvious you don't know what that is so you dismiss it as elitist talk. also having your eyes checked out would help too.

that's not what you said at all. you parroted old, tired, trollish arguments and tried and pass it off as an honest conversation.

This whole stink people are making about the film's color palette is like a weird reversal of the Diablo 3 color "controversy".

I really

really

really like this soundtrack. This is My World is probably my favorite on the score for now. Need to give it a few more listens through, but I can't decide between this one and Zimmer's MOS score. I don't think it has anything that nails it like Flight did on its soundtrack, in terms of awe and heroism, I feel. Fight Night is fun, too, with Is She With You? behind it in terms of the action songs.

And you know the themes of this movie how? I mean beyond the obvious, what do you know about what themes this movie tackles?

These "criticisms" are the reasons I have only commented a handful of times in these threads. It gets so tiring to keep seeing the same things levied against this movie. I don't like to scream that people are biased against something, but it's pretty damn close when it pertains to this film. May end up not being a good film, but the constant barrage of nitpicks gets so annoying.

For me, WB/DC should be commended for going a different route than what has proven to be successful right now. It would have been so easy for them to look at Marvels success and go "let's just do what they're doing". Its great that we can have a wide tonal spectrum for these movies. I actually hope that one day Marvel will tackle some darker stuff and DC go for some lighter stuff.

They may not be doing it in the movies, but they're sure tackling the darker stuff in the Netflix shows.

It's a bold title, lacks subtlety, but it's working. "Batman v Superman..." Mostly everyone has an initial knee-jerk wtf reaction, but at some point it's followed by okay... I have to see this. The subtitle is just kinda there though, most won't make sense of it until sometime after the fact.

The whole thing together seems to say exactly what the movie is. Now just days before release, I can't think of a more appropriate title for this movie.
Oh yea definitely. And theyre probably the best stuff in the MCU.
Probably? No. Definitely? Yes.

Nah, it's a shit-ass title.

Even plain ol' "Dawn of Justice" would have been better. But only barely (the subtitle is stupid as shit, too)
