Captain America: Civil War - Final Trailer

Gotham? A show that's so afraid to actually stand on its own merits it has to shoehorn in every major Batman villain in his rogue's gallery before Batman even shows up? No thanks. Gotham is trash, but better than Agents of S.H.I.T. Season 2 of Gotham was definitely better than Season 1, but it's still not a good show. I actually think the cast is rather good (Gordon grew on me in Season 2. Donal Logue is always great, and I love Morena Baccarin. Penguin is great as well). But the stories just aren't that compelling. There were a few solid episodes, but overall, it tries too hard to be a TV version of Nolan's world, but with way too many forced inclusions of Batman villains (the Riddler and the Penguin would have been enough, just to set the stage for Batman's arrival in 10 years). And the young Bruce, teen romance awkwardness with Selena is the most cringe inducing shit I've seen in a long time.

So far, The Flash is the best superhero show on TV. Mainly because it's not afraid to be a comic book show. It isn't trying to ape Nolan movies, or do what Marvel is doing, it's just telling fun Flash stories, and the cast is great, with great chemistry(although Caitlin is horribly under-utilized. We need more Killer Frost Caitlin). It wears its superhero origins on its sleeve, a lot like the Raimi Spider-Man movies.

That's one of the things that concerns me about Civil War, is that it feels so grim and dark from the trailers. Then again, The Captain America movies are actually the one MCU series where I think you could do grim/dark storylines well (when not Daredevil or Jessica Jones, of course). I mean specifically big screen movies. Most of the Marvel movies are light hearted. Winter Soldier was a lot darker, and this one looks like it will be too. I guess I'm okay with that, but I hope the other Marvel movies going into this next phase of films continue to be fun and light-hearted.

I find it funny you feel it's aping the Nolan films i thought it was the trying to emulate the animated series with its anachronistic time period and technology. I felt it found its feet far earlier than people claim (I'd say episode 5ish of season 1 was where it got its shit in order without having to spell out who everyone is). It's light hearted and I thought it embraced its comic book origins quite well. I personally hope the second season explores more of what makes Batman Batman, why does he devote himself to physical perfection, why does he decide to become a detective etc. I loved Kevin Smith's pitch for Bruce Wayne at prep school and I think that would be awesome to be explored. The comics rarely have stories where Bruce Wayne and not a batman play a central role. I'd love for them to put their stamp on the mythology.

found this comment on youtube that describes exactly why i think spiderman is the best superhero there is, aside from mentioning superman and batman under marvel lol

The reason spiderman is the most popular character in marvel is because he is the most relatable. He has financial issues, social issues, stress, loneliness etc. And his identity is the hardest to deduce coz no one would suspect an average guy like him to be spiderman unlike batman. Superman has strength, batman has smarts, spiderman has heart

I don't see Gotham trying to be like Nolan's Batman at all. If anything it's gone more over the top in its execution than most comic book shows on right now. I've seen elements of Burton's noirish Gotham, Schumacher's extremely campy and crazy Gotham, and the graphic novel darkness of some of Batman's stories. It also has a setting completely unique to itself, without the digital technology of today and retaining an almost timeless period like Batman: The Animated Series.

You said what I wanted to say better than I said it.

I can understand that viewpoint as well. I just think the show crams too much Batman into the series. To be honest, I'd enjoy Gotham a lot more if Bruce and Alfred weren't a part of it. If the show focused 100% on Gordon, Bullock, and their desperate attempts to bring law and order to Gotham City, I'd be on board. My problem isn't with the cast, just the writing. I think season 2 has been much better than season 1, but I check out of the show the moment Bruce and Alfred are on screen.

As I said before, I'd have been more into the show of they kept the overt Batman ties to a minimum. Riddler and Penguin (since I love how they are handling the Penguin character on the show), max. The Joker stuff, as teases go, is fine, but don't actually introduce him. I like the idea of Jim going up against a corrupt city, which eventually leads to the introduction of Batman. I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't find pre-Batman Bruce Wayne particularly interesting. Batman Begins, for me, did an excellent job of portraying why Bruce became Batmab, and his mindset and psychology. I'm more interested in the cops v's mobsters, and how Gotham became so corrupt before Gordon started kicking ass and taking names.

They should have gone with this costume, just to piss people off:

Some of these posts make me wonder what the reaction would have been if this character dropped into frame.

If Gwen Stacy's in the MCU and she's NOT Spider-Woman, no.

I can't even--

No.

No, Marvel. This is the best Gwen Stacy. By leagues. "Queen of Fridged Girlfriends" isn't a compelling character.

I don't care if you need to send Avi Arad and Tom Rothman on 3-year vacations. YOU LET GWEN STACY BE SPIDER-WOMAN.

the fact that peter parker is still in high school in these movies will make it very difficult to introduce miles morales.

as much as i like miles, the one other thing peter has going for him more, is the more developed relationships he has with so many other marvel characters.
from his personal life alone, he has such a strong network of supportive friends who could, if sony wanted to, spawn into their own movies titles.
not to mention all the other marvel heroes & villains who are better/more interesting characters as a result of their relationship with PP/spidey.

the gwen stac's, maryjanes, aunt mays, human torches, harry osborns, flash thompsons… miles just doesn't have this 'repertoire' of diverse relations.

with peter you could even introduce ben reilly & Kaine, whom, after infinity wars is done, shouldn't be too difficult to bring into movies.

spidergwen is fantastic in context of her universe, but she wouldn't fit a movie with 616 peter parker.

his entire arc with the 616 gwen & how that story unfolds is a pivotal part of peter parkers growth as a character… and mary jane's too, in fact.

As a fan of Spider-Woman prior to her current crappy status, I say no thanks.

Mile's Hydra girlfriend could have been interesting to see. Ganke is pretty lame, but he works as a foil to Miles.

Miles is the cool one, Ganke the nerd. Harry is the cool one, Peter the nerd. I also really like Mile's relationship with ultimate MJ, Gwen, and Aunt May. There was such a sadness to their relationship, because Peter was gone, and Miles could never be Peter for them.

But yeah, high school Peter means no Miles.

I always thought it'd have been a cool Easter egg, tease, if in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, if that kid that was being bullied and Spidey swooped in to help was Miles. But I hated ASM1 and 2, so I guess it's good that they didn't taint Miles with that movie. What a waste of Emma Stone, though. I'd have loved to have seen her in more Spidey movies. I sill think she'd have been a better MJ.

What are you talking about? Do you think just because Jessica Drew exists they shouldn't introduce Spider-Gwen in all her awesomeness into the MCU as soon as superhumanly possible?

You must not actually read comic books if you think Spider Gwen is awesome :(

Ultimate Peter was still in HS when he ate a bullet for Cap.

Spider-Gwen is still coasting on the fact that she's a girl with a cool costume in a culture starved for lady superheroes. Her book is boring as shit, so once that novelty wears off and the series gets cancelled after two arcs, you'll never see her again outside of a team book.

Preach. Silk was by far the superior female spider book of the two

You're probably right. All I read was the entire run of Spider-Verse (including Secret Wars) and the first TPB. :( I mistakenly thought her series was one of about six enjoyable Marvel comics that year :(

I liked both. Damn people. Spider-Gwen hate sucks.

All I'm saying is if Gwen Stacy's in there someday and her only role is to have a police dad and fawn all over Peter Parker she's not worth it.

thats 100% going to be her role if she's in the MCU. she can hang out with Natalie Portman

The only way any non-Peter Parker Spider-Man really works on film is if he/she is in the presence of Peter Parker Spider-Man.

The thing about Cindy Moon is I hate how Slott fucking introduced her. "Hey here's a hot asian chick that wants to bang Spider-Man because of, uh, spider-mones." She literally showed up in like a tattered-yet-skintight 1 Million BC websuit for Spidey to go like oo la la good thing I'm not married in this dimension any more.

Know your readership, I guess.

He then tossed it to far more capable hands that desperately tried to give her some depth, but damn. Also not really a fan of the proto-Room Oldboy gimmick she's got going on. But if they want more Spider-dudes, they've gotta stretch that initial radioactive spider origin as far as it can go I guess. "What if there were more Radioactive Spiders? What if the Radioactive Spider wasn't finished biting people?" Slott, you fucking genius! Cheers, Bendis!

I love the idea of a kickass asian Spider-Hero more than anything, and I wish her book was doing better, but damn do I wish she had a better origin.

Dude I wanted to like it, that design was sick. And then its just so fucking boring and self serious. Silk was such a breath of fresh air.

Of course if we're talking Spider ladies, Spider Woman blows both away

The birth issue of Spider-Woman was really fun and really tense. Her killing a hundred Skrulls ten seconds after having a c-section was pretty badass. I'm glad they didn't drag out her pregnancy.

Miguel is the best spidey and therefore has the best costume by default.
