X-men Apocalypse Official Trailer

Because it's not 2000 any more and we maybe want to upgrade from "good" to "great?"

She said like, 3 words and was some kind of lizard? I guess? Terrible. J-Law makes a fine early Mystique. It's just that Mystique shouldn't be a founding goddamn member of the X-Men!
lol gaf.. Other than 1 of his movies, all the other movies are better than like 80-90% of the current MCU and all non-Nolan/Burton DC movies.

I didn't have a strong reaction to the trailer, but it didn't give me cancer. I think most superhero movie trailers tend to be shitty or underwhelming though, and until Singer gives me an actual reason to doubt him, I'm going to assume that it will at least be good.

I just hope the Xmen Apocalypse OT turns out more positive and fun, as every trailer thread has gone to shit from the same people bringing up the exact complaints

Yeah, I'm in the same exact boat.

I get the complaints about the Mystique character. People claiming Rebecca Romijn was good or better than Lawrence? Give me a fucking break.

Most definitely. Romijn didn't even pretend to be an actress. She was simply somebody that looked good in blue paint. J-Law can act.

Am I living in a different universe where Romijn was one of the few good parts about Xmen 3? She wasn't given a lot, but she had fun with the character despite the shitty makeup. Every shot of NuStique is a bored Jlaw choking on lines.

And why is Mags a horseman lol? Does it make any sense in this timeline? Or does it matter anymore?

So instead of Wolverine featuring the X-Men, now it's Mystique featuring the X-Men.

I was really excited for this movie. After that trailer, now I'm just bummed out.

Pretty much writes itself, but nah lets have leather and boring

I could get over the boring year 2000 leather, but they have consistently botched bringing anything resembling the rich characters and relationships shared between Jean, Scott, Hank, Logan, Peter, Kitty, Kurt, etc. Its crazy how little of their own mythology they've explored after 16 fuckin' years. DECADES of great comic stories and ideas with strong team dynamics and interesting characters! Shi'ar! Genosha! Savage Land! How are we still here in this "we're still figuring out this whole superhero movie thing" mode of forgettable characters with a feign resemblance to their comic counterparts and weightless CGI destruction?

Like the Avengers movies have gotten to the point where their colorful, well-defined characters can just fuck around at a party and be entertaining in Age of Ultron. How are the X-Men not at that level when they pretty much invented that kinda chemistry and humanity? Some of the best issues are like, Colossus running into Juggernaut at a bar, or "Professor Xavier is a Jerk!" where they fuck around at the mansion.

lol gaf..."other than all of these movies, the movie was good." Yeah, the movies are good. They are not great. The X-Men, being a socially relevant movie with massive appeal to people from all walks of life, deserves great. Other movies also not being great doesn't change that at all. Even if you think his flicks have been great, the logic is so terrible you should feel at least a little bad for using it.

I kinda love the how everyone's hair is just god awful. Gotta love the 80s!

Yet, still not believable enough for being the early 80s(needs more volume and perm-curls). The wavy hair looks more close to how hair was in the 90s than the 80s. These are 1983-auquthentic:

IMO, no throw-back movie set in the 80s have convincingly pulled off the look, or go all in to try. Closest, I think, was Super 8, and that was set in 79.

There are 6 movies now. Plus the Wolverine spin-offs.

What can you tell me about any of the characters in any of them that's deeper than surface level?

It's a joke. 6 movies and we know NOTHING about any of these people or their relationships, motivations, etc etc.

No lies detected

Speak for yourself i think the Singer films have been GREAT

I'm not feeling the trailers, either.

But I'm still really looking forward to this on Singer alone. It's the only superhero movie I really care for this year.

I'm looking forward to 3 others but this is the one I'm least skeptical about. Even with its eh trailers.

Singer pulls great performances and exchanges between xavier and Magneto. And the Psylocke scenes look cool as well

Hopefully he throws in some cool nightcrawler and quicksilver stuff too

Truth. It's crazy how much the Marvel universe has eclipsed them in this sense.

Can you read? I said other than one of his movies. My logic is terrible and I should feel bad for saying he's made better movies than the two major companies that make comic book movies? What the hell are you even talking about?

My main ties to the X-Men were during moody hormonal early-teens, where it would have been an agonizing to decide between Jean Grey, Psylocke, Storm, and Mystique. Never would I had thought a film featuring all four would fail to excite me... in that way. Maybe that's a good thing? Just unexpected.

Eh........hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Im a big fan of First Class and DoFP but this just doesnt look as interesting.

Hopefully Im wrong.

Looks terrible. What are they doing? I think they let the their 2 films get to their heads and now were going to get The Last Stand again.

That final shot of Mystique was horrible.

I love First Class and Future Past alot too.

Didn't like the trailer tbh. Apoc design looks terrible. I hate that Mystique appears to be leading the Xmen. I get that Cyke is maybe still a student but make him the great leader that he deserves to be damnit!

Still, I loved all of Singer's Xmen movies so I have high hopes.

Truth. It's crazy how much the Marvel universe has eclipsed them in this sense.

In only that sense tbh. Even their best films lack the dramatic scenes and gravitas (I say this tongue in cheek it usually veers towards being a bit melodramatic which is perfectly fine for the genre) that the Nolan trilogy and singers movies and first class had.

Like he consistently pulls out some good performances out of a few particular actors

Comic fans are always gonna whine about this franchise. That's cool. I'm just really glad it still exists outside of marvel. It has its weaknesses but I still think it's strengths far outweigh them. Especially with singer involved. Dofp was the best of the 3 easily for me in 2014.

The only other stuff this year that really reminds me of the best exchanges between singer xavier/mags is that scene between Bruce and Alfred about superman in the BvS promos

I love shit like that. Where it looks like the actors actually give a shit and are bringing their talent to something you'd think they would just sleepwalk through (which ironically is what Lawrence has been doing in this franchise)

Trailer looked fine to me. If it turns out great, I Just hope this movie isn't forgotten about when it comes out.

You seriously don't know Eric's motivations? It's illustrated in the opening scene of the first film.

Try harder to hate these, heh.

Jennifer is channeling Katniss into Mystique lol. Just not feeling this Mystique anymore.

Anyway that didn't really excite me, but I still seeing it regardless.

black and silver leather - check
professor x kidnapped - check
cyclops role as leader handed off to most popular actor on cast - check
mystique and magneto - check

Singer's X-men is back.

That was the best trailer for this movie so far, but that's not saying much.

I liked that callback conversation about the school.

I'm just not hyped for this movie, and I generally like most Xmen movies and absolutely loved DoFP. Giving JLaw's Mystique a prominent leader role probably has a lot to do with it. The character was one of my least liked things about DoFP and First Class, and the trailers don't seem to instill much hope that I'll like her any better. I don't know if it's how she's being directed or the performance she's putting out, something's just not compelling to me (and I like JLaw in most things).

Truth. There are plenty of moments throughout the Marvel films that should lead to more dramatic scenes or linger on something that's happened. But then that's the moment where they just cut to a quick joke.

It works for them and that's fine, but I know we'll never get anything on par of the films you listed up there or Spider-Man 2 from them.

Unless Civil War or Dr. Strange proves me wrong.

Can you read? I said other than one of his movies. My logic is terrible and I should feel bad for saying he's made better movies than the two major companies that make comic book movies? What the hell are you even talking about?

"Can't you read? Also, what do these simple sentences mean?"

lol gaf.. Other than 1 of his movies, all the other movies are better than like 80-90% of the current MCU and all non-Nolan/Burton DC movies.

"Also, all of non-Nolan/Burton DC movies counts as half a movie and his 1 unnamed movie is another half!"
