There are photos of Superman looking seemingly dead, and then photos of Diana and Bruce at what appears to be a funeral, and then a photo of what appears to be a memorial to Superman.

Look here before they're pulled:

That doesn't prove anything at all. I read that Superman dies in the knightmare sequence. And I don't see a Diana at a funeral..

It's probably Bruce at a funeral for all the people who died in MoS or for the dead Robin

Dead Superman would be such a waste of time. He's in the next damn movie!

Unless the last shot is literally his fist pounding out from the ground.

Is Superman really dead? I don't believe it until proof is shown...and confirmed by those who 100% saw it, I find that hard to believe...then again anything can happen.

It's a testament to MOS that we can even entertain the possibility. Formulaic films take that jeopardy completely off the table.

Pretty sure the gravesite/mausoleum at Wayne Manor was one of the first things leaked from this movie.

Complete with a gravestone with Dick Grayson's name on it. Which I guess ended up being a production in-joke or something?

These are the only photos that are still up. There were other ones with Diana and Bruce standing next to each other at the funeral.

Is Kryptonite confirmed in this?

Otherwise I still think Bats uses Zods suit to make his armor.

You're giving Goyer's MoS way too much credit. It's as formulaic as a movie can get.

Yes kryptonite is in trailer and was at the press junket. Don't know if Batman ends up using it, only see Lex with it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..nah. There's just no way they kill him off in the second movie in the universe, especially when they are bringing him back the very next movie. I don't want even 5 minutes wasted on that shit.

Well shit, now I watched an interview with Fishburne saying his favorite part was when Batman meets Superman's mom and says I'm a fan of your son.

hmmmm

I heard some rumor online a while back it was a Reverse TDKR, (Clark Kent "dies'') but looking I can't remember where. I completely wrote it off and I still kinda do.

Saw it too. I really think it's either Ma or Pa Kents grave they are at and Superman or Clark just aren't in these set of pics.

I hope so.

Makes even less sense for Clark to die. It's not like he is an alien that could come back to life willy nilly.

I believe the woman said "friend of your son" in the interview.

You right, my bad. And I also remember from the press conference earlier today that Diane Lane had the first scene with Batman or something. I'm now thinking he saves her at some point and that's how explains who he is when she asks.

Could be what he does in the final act while they're dealing with Doomsday.

Have there been any leaks as to why Lex has control over Superman? He's kneeling at one point. Must either have someone kidnapped or kryptonite. But it can't be K because he's telling him to fight Batman. Has to be some kind of leverage

There was a rumor at some point Lex kidnaps Ma Kent or Lois. Don't know where it came from, but I saw it being talked about on forums in the past month or two.

He revealed to Superman that Bruce Wayne created the tornado that killed Pa Kent.

I could see having Superman sacrifice himself at the end of the film being a strong conclusion to his character arc, and his relationship with Batman.

Superman, even despite everything humans have put him through, is still willing to give his life to save them all, which finally gives Batman 100% trust in him.

Of course, everyone knows he'll be back in Justice League, so yeah. Do it as a reverse TDKR, end the film with him coming back to life, even if it's just the last shot of the film. Don't actually leave him dead for JL.

I just feel like his death wont have any of the emotional payoff that it should, since you'll just sit there knowing he's about to come back to life. Idk, we'll see how it goes. Maybe it will be that rumor that he flies Doomsday into the sun, then he disappears and Bruce/Diana think he's dead but really he's just missing. But then the graveyard doesn't make much sense.

BAH so much to think about. Wish I could just ignore it and wait for the movie lol

Weird definition of formula if people are still have angst about it being not-my-Superman to this day.

That really has become my least favorite form of criticism. It's especially common in comic book films. People are so quick to judge these films based on how well they are adapted from the comics that they don't let the pictures stand on their own merits. I have many issues with Man of Steel that are unrelated to that, but I agree with what you're saying.

I do kinda like the idea we're a week from release and it's only just now starting to be a concern that a movie with Doomsday in it might end with Superman's death.

Only spoilers I care about are those involving Robin. I don't want to get my hopes up but I feel like we're so close finally seeing Bruce's children. So close. ;-; I feel so bad for my boyfriend who's going to have to sit next to me while watching this movie in public and will have to deal with my disappointment if things don't go the way I want them to. So best to go in knowing. :P

Like him being revived in the next movie, if he dies it will be meanigless.
These aren't monthly comics so a lot of cnaracters' deaths have the potential to stick. They kill Cyborg, Aquaman or any villain? I'd believe that. Superman? No way, for him death will just be a vacation from being alive.

would be a nice way to introduce the Eradicator, Superboy, Steel, and Cyborg

I meant the cheap way Goyer writes his scripts and abuses plot devices to lazily and conveniently get his characters into the next scene (soldiers at diner who discuss top secret location of spaceship, conveniently followed by scene of Clark landing a job with the military as he pursues said lead, conveniently followed by Lois catching sight of him in middle of snow storm, etc.)

The weird thing: I would be perfectly fine with letting Goyer get away with all this. If he actually had anything of real substance to say.

The only thing I am willing to give him credit for is the portrayal of the Kents. Tornado scene aside.

I do not need it to be 'the' take on the characters, but it was nice.

Man I remember when I went to watch Superman Returns on opening day, the audience was legit shook at Superman "dying". A mom actually had to tell her son "don't worry, he will be back" because the kid couldn't believe it.

I don't know how I would react to Superman "dying" in this, honestly it feels played out at this point. I think I have seen Superman "die" more times than I have seen Batman die! It's such a manipulative way to make people care about the character... even All Star was guilty of it.

this seems legit

Yeah, it seems pretty intersting. I have a few reservations with some of it though:
- Aqua man is not mentioned
- We know from the interviews that Mercy Graves has a fight scene (I think)
- There are still conflicting reports as to whether Superman actually dies or not

Otherwise sounds legit, and pretty awesome!

So take this with a HUGE grain of salt, but some guy on SHH dropped a massive synopsis of the plot

http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=33175949&postcount=42

He didn't provide any proof, but its interesting. Ive not seen it produced this way any where else, so at least its a unique plot 'leak'

It seems kinda legit but I'm always skeptical when someone's seen one of t he biggest movies of the year and can't remember it. Not like every detail but...

Overall it sounds pretty cool. I feel like everyone would know that Superman would come back so not making a secret of it in the same movie is good, if it's true...I'm not sure how they'd bring him back in JL other than "Oh, one day he popped out of the ground and was back" so I sorta feel like maybe it's Clark who dies...pretty much because whether or not they make another Man of Steel, Lois is their connecting point to the Daily Planet and in the interests of making them 2 1/2 hours tops this way they don't have to spend time with Clark there, which would kinda suck but oh well.

No way Martha isn't in on the plan though. Also don't really care about Batman apparently killing some people, I mean it's better to fall one side of the line rather than stumble like Batman Begins and it's not like he's actively killing everyone in the trailer fight.

If this is all true.

Alot of it sounds good and if its true my prediction of 'A Beautiful Lie' being the opening credit song playing over the death of the Waynes is right. I REALLY hope he is somehow mistaken about Batman killing. And the ending being sort of a reverse of the TDKR ending is cool I think.

So can I expect one billion threads about Batman trying to kill folks and the whole bat brand thing? Or no because people don't treat Batman like he's Jesus?
