Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

The movie opens with Jor-El's adventure in Dinotopia, culminating in a fistfight and a series of rocket dicks launched into the phantom zone.

Then Clark saves people on a burning oil freighter.

Then there is roughly 80 minutes until the battle of Smallville, which leads DIRECTLY into the battle of Metropolis.

Unless you wanna count stuff like "MY SON WAS ON THE BUS" (I don't) and Lois getting auto-assist in Jor-El's walkthrough (I don't) there's no real action between that oil rig and the moment Zod throws a truck through a barnroof.

This is pretty accurate. We remember the action towards the end, but people make it seem as if the movie was all action all the time. Most of the action happened in chunks

That guy's "review" gives no evidence to it being real. Absolutely anybody could have written every word in there. Fakeee

I'm remembering things right then. I don't count small things like the oil freighter or the tornado as action sequences. There's stuff on that level in BvS too which is minor. The escape from Zod's ship pretty much marks the beginning of the final act.

Negative reactions to the screenings according to Wrap's Jeff Sneider

First hour apparently good and then not so great. He has heard the movie is not bad but not particularly good either.

I'm starting to have my doubts. I'm more of a DC guy, but something tells me Cap Civil War will obliterate this movie in every possible way. (should be interesting to see which makes more money)

A poster on SHH was supposedly told by a friend who supposedly saw the movie that Superman dies at the end and it's left like that. He's having a meltdown about it and has basically boycotted the DCEU because of it.

From what I can tell herolee10 is a bit of a drama queen

I can understand his point of view, especially as a Superman fan these days, but yea he's going a bit overboard.

I have huge doubts he dies ( going by other spoilers) but his argument basically boils down too: Superman dying = WB having no respect for the character

I dont buy that, because all of the times supes dies, it given huge respect, focus and pathos

He doesn't stay dead. We know that much. Cavill is currently training for Justice League (which he is constantly posting videos on his Instagram) and last night on Kimmel he talked about Superman and Batman arguing about who leads the team (in Justice League).

All of the one times? Did he die in the New 52 or something?

you would think as a fan he would realize Superman has died at least twice in DC and no one said "DC has no respect for Superman!"

BATMAN: "Oh yeah? I'll form my own team! I call them the Outsiders!"

SUPERMAN: "Yeah well my team formed itself centuries in the future! We're the Legion of Superheroes!"

WONDER WOMAN: "You men... always bickering. We Amazons can control Earth's destiny without your help!"

AQUAMAN: "Screw you surface dwellers. I own most of the world."

GREEN LANTERN: "Eeehhhh... I'll settle for leading the Corps..."

FLASH: "I just stopped crime in all of your cities. Why do I need you guys?"

*everybody leaves*

CYBORG: "Cyborg's time to shine!"

I mean if you're going to put Superman and Doomsday together in the same movie why would you not at least make it look like Superman dies? It's only his most famous moment.

Superman dying can certainly be salvaged

Kind of a dumb reaction that falls apart when you realize Cavill is starring in Justice League :|.

Hrmm, i would think if anything it would be opposite, considering the Doomsday fight and Batman v Superman is after the first hour, and we already know Zack can nail action scenes. I expect negative feedback at some point but I have to take secondary sources with a grain of salt, compared to critics that have already rated it and various twitter people giving thumbs up emjois.

Yeah. What you are saying this is true but maybe people who have negative opinions will less likely give their opinion on twitter breaking embargo.

Snyder nails action but it's not always well liked. I mean, look at MoS.

Wasn't planning on seeing this, but it looks like there will be a few non-3D IMAX showings... There is only one "IMAX" screen at the theater I'd go see the film at, and it's only a single showing each day, but that's better than what happened with Star Wars.

Might have to see it to send a message that I want more big films on the IMAX screen not in 3D.

Good to see positive feelings towards the film here

User eobardthawne42 from Reddit was kind enough to compile a bunch of Batman v Superman impressions and listed them here. This is just the first few (more at the link)...

Kevin McCarthy (GeekNation, Nerdtears.com) - loved it, apparently. Posting “nerd tears” Tweets and statuses after the screening in the junket expo room for ages, geeking out all over the place. Told Henry he was “amazing in the film,” Gal is “amazing,” and so on.

Chris Sylvia (VP of Regal Cinemas, Batman fan)- double thumbs up. Liked lots of positive Tweets, responded to fan messages saying it was a massive improvement on MOS, great start for a whole universe, everyone nailed their parts- you’d have seen the screenshots here.

Pakistan Fans (Osama Com Laude)- two fans, ADORED it. Proved they saw it with those damn leaked photos, and WB asked them to take down their review, but they were LAUDING it and loving it and entirely in heaven. Just remember when WB ask something to be removed it’s because they don’t want spoilers out there and actually care for the fans- removing POSITIVE reviews shows confidence, if you ask me.

Carrie Keegan (Reviewer on CriticsChoice)- 4/4 (or 90/100.) Both Edward Douglas' (he said it was a joke since, no proof he's seen the movie) and Reegans’ ratings were placed on the site. No real word yet but they’re listed on the site as such. (Update - her rating has since disappeared, whether a glitch or embargo breaking worrying them, I dunno).

Krystal Bianca (Critic)- “HOT DAMNN! Just watched Batman v Superman, mind effing blown, amazing movie,” couldn’t wait to interview the cast.

LeoLins (Brazilian comic show host)- was apparently sceptical going in, but apparently says it was “f*cking awesome,” his tweet praising Ben and Henry, the tone of the movie Snyder “got right,” and Lex “done justice and right.”
