Miitomo |OT| A new way of COMMUnication

Okay so Nintendo is just a super asshole and depriving North America of Miitomo because they're feeling particularly dickish at the moment.

Is that the response you'd be prefer?
It's not like you have been warned months in advance of the release window. Also there's not only NA. There's something called Europe too.

Japan is practically beta testing the game as far as we know. Nintendo may want to patch out as many bugs as possible before North America.

This is interesting, I wonder if anyone has had any bugs? The only thing I've noticed is some clothing not coming off when you try on new clothes in the shop. It doesn't stack, it just shows the first piece you put on instead of the new one.

I'm "only" at 50 questions answered, I wonder how many there is right now.

I did 200, so I'm somewhere above that now. I wonder if it's 255.

They have maintence scheduled for Monday though, it could just as likely be then...

Source?

There are bugs. Recently I had Miitomo stopping to work and I couldn't clear the cache, had to delete user data to make it work again.

I would prefer not to read some lame excuse that it's not even the official reason for the late release. It is what it is, no need for softening it.

A beta is officially announced, no serious company beta test something on its users without announcing it.

No excuses here, just deductive reasoning.

Logically I would think Nintendo is making sure things things are running smoothly in one region before they roll it out everywhere. If any problems were to crop up it's easier to handle when there's less people using the product.

Again, no serious company launches a product to beta test it on users unless is specifically announced so.

When Nintendo needed to test something to ensure it runs smoothly they did beta, demo or test runs. Take Splatoon for example.

What's stranger about this silence is this:

Miitomo will be out by March 2016—a slight delay compared to the Fall 2015 release window Nintendo described this past Spring. According to company president Tatsumi Kimishima, this is necessary to allow enough time for Nintendo to promote the app.

Guess we should be thankful there wasn't a second delay...

Seems to be network wide so presumably would effect mobile too, despite it not being specifically mentioned.
Could just as easily be nothing at all.

Oh yeah, they've done a great job on promoting it.

I'm not sure bug fixing is the reason for the delay. The game launched on the 17th in Japan, which was a Thursday. Nintendo has historically done a lot of their digital storefront updates on Thursday.

Easter is this coming Sunday, and that holiday is pretty big in the west. Many people have days off during this time, and the holiday is traditionally when friends and family get together for celebration. If I were working for Nintendo, I'd want to take advantage of the extended weekend by launching this Thursday. It gives people more time with the app. More time to connect with their friends and family.

I've worked in marketing for a long time and this is what I'd do, but Nintendo has a habit of going against the grain. So, who knows?

Like I get 'gamers' are more often than not unreasonable and impatient, but it's not unwarranted in this situation.

The app is complete, certified, translated, playable in 12 different languages and fully ready to go.
It has been for almost an entire week... and yet, nothing at all. Not even a word. The trailer and last tweet coincided with the Japanese release.
All we're left to do is wait and speculate. It's easy to see why people are getting frustrated. If they just came out and definitively said 'it's out March 28th' then cool.
It's just baffling how there is just... nothing.

Yeah, it'd be one thing if we had a confirmed release date, but we don't.

That said, if Nintendo is planning to make an announcement a week before launch, and they're planning to launch on the 31st, that means we'd have to wait until at least tomorrow.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo just releases it tomorrow or within the next week around Easter though. I mean, honestly, who knows?

Weird that Nintendo is so willing to keep people in the dark though. Miitomo is an important first step towards a "new" mobile-friendly Nintendo, after all.

Man there are some truly wild nsfw miifotos floating around Twitter haha.

That reminds me.. is there no way to directly share a miifoto within miitomo to your in-app friends list? You have all the export-esque options for Instagram, Line, et al but seemingly no way to share an image unless your Mii specially asks you to send one of a new outfit.
Am I overlooking something?

I need them to bring this over so I can continue to do stuff like this, only officially.

Crap I want a new shirt but I'm out of coins. If this was the full app (AKA not side-loaded) I'd actually consider buying some. I wanna look cute and current. ;;

Is it actually possible to update a side-loaded app? (By installing the new version. Does it just install separately or does it delete the old app idk)

To be honest I use APKPure which can update pretty easily, but yeah just taking the updated APK should just update the old version you have.

Reposting just in case anyone can answer...
For anyone here who's using Miitomo with a Japanese Nintendo Account linked and used their Mii from their Nintendo account, I've got a question for you... If you use your Mii from your Nintendo Account, does your Mii update in Miitomo if you change it on another device linked with that account (Nintendo 3DS or Wii U)? I'm not sure how I want to go about creating my personal Mii in Miitomo... The most ideal way would be to use my Mii's QR Code from Tomodachi Life, since that would carry over my voice and personality with it. However, if pulling your Mii from your Nintendo Account actually links it with your 3DS and/or Wii U, I'd prefer to go that route, 'cause if I make any changes to my Mii I'd like it to update across all of my devices... But I'm not sure if Miitomo even works like that. It seems the only way to change your Mii after creating it is by manually editing it. There's no option to update the Mii via QR Code or anything...

But we kind of do have a Western time frame since the Japanese release.

Late March.

This trailer was uploaded on March 17, 2016 on a channel called Nintendo Mobile.

All the other videos are the same trailers in several different languages. This looks like the new Nintendo Mobile YouTube channel.

Scanning a Mii QR code into Miitomo just make a copy of it. It's not linked. It's just a shortcut to the makeup of your Mii.
I'm aware of that. What I'm asking is if you opt to pull your Mii from your Nintendo Account, not via a QR Code, will your Mii in Miitomo then be linked with your Nintendo Account Mii, so any changes made via your Nintendo 3DS or Wii U will be automatically reflected in Miitomo, as is currently the case across linked 3DS and Wii U systems?

I would assume not, but I'd just like to know if anyone who imported their Mii from their Japanese Nintendo Account can confirm (like, by making a change to your Mii on your 3DS/Wii U and seeing if it also changes in Miitomo—you may have to link and unlink your NNID to your Nintendo Account for the Mii's change to be reflected on your Nintendo Account, or at least that was the case for me).

I guess I'm just hoping there's some way to link your Mii to your NNID/Nintendo Account Mii so that any changes you make will be reflected across all devices, since some things, such as height and width, are pretty much impossible to accurately replicate in Miitomo. At least on Wii U, you can move the slider by notches, but you can't really do that in Miitomo, so if I ever decide to change my Mii's height or width for whatever reason I wouldn't be able to accurately update my Mii in Miitomo unless the Mii is linked to your account and automatically updates as it does across 3DS and Wii U.

I just downloaded the APK for the new version on my Android phone and after opening it it asked me if I wanted to update or re-install Miitomo. I clicked update and it worked flawlessly, saving my character info and everything.

If it is coming out on the very final day of March, (really abusing the term "Launching in March" but while being technically correct) then I would expect news about that today. Japan got a week notice, after all.

Right now, due to NX leaks/fakes, they are too busy running in circle and screaming.

Seriously, they will just stealth release it with a tweet "hey, download Miitomo NOW"
Because who needs advertising.

I'm waiting for this and SUPER HOT (XB1). They're both "March" and March is almost over!

They're both gonna come out March 30th while im at the FFXV event between Killer Instinct Season 3 and the DOOM Beta just so I have no time to play anything I just know it. >.<

I wouldn't be surprised if they only announce it 2-3 days before launching it... Does it even make a difference at this point though. There's only 7 days to go at most.

Please, anyone with the cat on the shoulder accessory, tell me.... HOW?!! D:

I've wasted all my game tickets and coins so far on this stupid dropping game but I can't get the cat. I've already gotten all the other rewards in that machine, some even twice, but I cant for the life of me get my Mii on that topmost platform. Do you have to aim for the middle? Or more to the left and let your Mii slide onto the platform using the moving object?

I need that cat. I need it more than the answer to what the OT title means.

The trick to get it to land on the topmost platform is to time the dropping position of your mii and also avoid the moving object. You will need to wait till your mii sway to the side and drop it while avoiding the moving object. Your mii will have to land on the platform sideway. Landing head on will cause your mii to bounce off.

I can confirm this works, I just moved my dude to the right and dropped him once the moving thing was going away, he hit the little triangle on the right side and landed on the cat item, first try.

Oh awesome, that's good to know. :D

Just got new notifications.
There's a new Twitter photo theme, "Mii Friends."
Entry pictures need at least 2 characters in them.
Open for Japan only, like the cat challenge.

The second says the Miitomo Drop boards have updated.
The board theme is now "Natural beauty. Floral ensembles!" which adds 12 exclusive Spring inspired clothing items.

Kubus don't panic, the cat boards are still available :)

Been hoarding game tickets for a while, I should have 20 of them with first week login bonus + launch gifts (until March 30th) and leveling up (3 popularity/8 style)

Awesome, thanks a bunch! Just tried it but I messed up the timing >_<. I've ran out of tickets and coins though so now I gotta wait for my next chance. You're saying that I need to keep the Mii in the middle right?

..because this sounds like a different strategy xD. I guess I'll try both!

Thank god

I swear if we don't get the kitty on shoulder accessory in the overseas release I'm gonna rage.

I'd be ok with VR goggles as an apology.

Can only talk about japanese Nintendo but the "for you" offers are part of the Nintendo account not MyNintendo there, I got two offers when the account launched.

Japan actually had a sort of MyNintendo beta when Nintendo Account launched there. Basically, some of the functions that are part of MyNintendo were included in the original Nintendo Account page in Japan, things like "Just for you" and "Birthday discounts", as well as the detailed purchase history. All of these features were completely absent when the Nintendo Account launched here in the West.

Also, the "For You" label appeared on the italian eShop as well. Don't know how long it's been there, but since others said it wasn't live mere hours ago...
