Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

Save Braniac for a solo Superman venture. Center part 1 around getting the League together and helping Aquaman un-fuck his home (ala throne of Atlantis). End with Green Lantern coming to warn everyone. Done.

I thought it was the other way around Darkseid then Atlantis

Throne of Atlantis eh...

I'd be more certain of a Batfleck Batman movie than Flash, Cyborg and Shazam films at this point. Warner aren't stupid, they're just way too trusting of certain directors, if Affleck wants to star and direct we could see it as soon as 2018. You better believe he's the star of the DCU now.

Why not have Batman leading a future Justice League in the Knightmare dream scene and seeing them be killed off then Flash running back in time? I recognize thats a lot but what they showed was nearly indecipherable and too singleminded. Nevermind, the double take wake up double take was so terrible.

Unless you know by the casting and circumstance that is Flash, you have no clue what is going on and it sticks out. Plus he yelled for way too long.

I had no clue it was Flash until I got home and read this thread. Admittedly, I feel dumb for not realizing it at the time, but with all the light and sound and him sliding his helmet back, I didn't get a good look.

Anyone else think the nuked Superman looked like Bizarro?

Maybe that's where that rumor came from.

I feel like it is done to reference Bizarro. Like having Bizarro in the movie somehow but not actually Bizarro as the character. Like that manbat in the dream scene but not the real Manbat.

It's done because that's what Superman looks like in The Dark Knight Returns after he gets nuked.

In the New 52, yeah. I think they brought him in too early there, though.

The big hints for Throne we've seen are some very Atlantis-looking props in that first set pic, but that could just be for an Aquaman scene, rather than being the driving force of the movie.

Nah, we're like this close to a truly amazing movie here. It does a ton of things right that other CBMs don't even attempt, if the editing was better we'd be golden.

Oh, and the soundtrack. Really needs more upbeat tracks.

My friend said the same thing about the editing. I absolutely do not see it. What's there jsut isn't good, poorly edited or not. A well-paced turd would still be a turd, no?

The Good
I think the actors they have Supes, Bat, WW, Alfred, etc. Were all fine. They look and fit the part well.

The Bad
This is the most strung together film I've seen. Just to go through the first hour or so. We start with a dream sequence of Bruce. Followed by a past memory. Followed by Lolis being saved and Superman. Followed by the Senate shit. Back to Bat. Back to another dream sequence from Bat. Introducing Lex. Lex and the Senate girl. Etc.

There is zero sense of time or pacing. Its an assembly piece without any cohesion.

Then they finally start to focus it and what is left is basically non nonsensical shit. The reason supes fight bat is Lex taking his mommy and suddenly wants to kill him for it...Batman stops because of Martha...Doomsday is created in a manner of like 2 hours... Lex summoned Darksied... to avoid the pitfall of the last film, every place is inhabited(Yes the middle of Metropolis, Port of Gotham, Island, Lex's camp), complete with announcing it to the audience each time.

And the cardinal sin of the film is that it is long on top of being boring. I sat there from about 30 minutes in wondering when this shit is over.

Was that the flash going back in time in Bruce's dream?

Until Cyborg or Flash gets bumped and Flash gets a DOFR proper intro in someone else's movie.

Remember, Spider-man wasn't on the MCU slate...until it was.

Oh I absolutely believe we are getting a solo Batman movie in the next three years, I was just clarifying to that person that nothing is official at this point.

This was a much smarter movie than most of his other stuff, I have some serious faith in Terrio now.

I felt that parts of the movie were Terrio scrambling to rewrite things around the mess that Goyer had written but keeping to the production elements that were set and stone and Man of Steel's canon.

Him being completely fine looking after dying from Doomsday/Kryptonite poisoning was weird. But it was the only way they could bury Superman as Clark, a man.

A brave man, one could say

That Wonder Woman smirk before she opened a can of whoop ass on Doomsday, sogood.gif

The complaints about not having enough WW feel quite unfounded. Her not having a big role until the end made it all the sweeter to me, upstaging bat and supes with ease. As it should be. And it sets up her own movie nicely. Who doesn't want more of Diana right now?

I don't think their intention was ever to bump off films to slot a Batman solo. There is still enough slots out there.

Personally I want another Superman movie. I think we're past the grim stage of his character, this move established that the world needs a Superman and his sacrifice cemented him as a hero and a symbol of Hope.

I don't see JL being anything other than being focused around Darkseid as the main villain.

The Omega symbol in the Knightmare sequence + Parademons and the device seen in the Cyborg clip all indicate this.

Flash is probably also coming back from the Knightmare timeline to warn Bruce and references the line made by Superman in the Knightmare sequence.

So JL movie is going to be two-part film?

The fight scene with Doomsday + her irritated me, actually, because she'd get knocked across the screen and not have a mark on her.

I thought the movie was pretty good overall. The actual BatSup fight was a little too predictable for me thou. I mean, once Kryptonite was introduced so early in the movie I knew where that was headed. Then Superman tells Lois his gonna try to convince Bats to "help" him. So he was holding back from the get go. And obviously the reason it was even a "fight" was because of Bats use of the aforementioned Kryptonite. So Batman "blocking" the punches etc... were not because his armor suit was great, but because Superman was just weak from the Kryptonite smoke bombs. Other than the predictable nature of the fight the movie was decently entertaining.

Even tho I thought BvS was okay. I feel it was good Superman movie, and the elements they were touching on could of been used for standalone Superman movie.

I loved that they included SM wanting to tell Bruce about Lex but pride and ego got in the way. I got so hyped up, I was really enjoying the film up to that point then the fight was getting good and all of sudden it's over. Then after that it was just a mess.

Really pissed me off.

Oh man, how about that warehouse fight though. That guy who tried to put two in the back of his head, lawd.

Second favorite action moment, behind WW showing up.

If i don't read here that the guy warning batman was Ezra i would have never guessed.

It was a fucking weird scene
I know right? I was still confused by the aliens in the desert scene and then suddenly there's a guy warning Batman about something
"what the heck am I watching" "dude that's flash!!!" "WHAT"

Also lol Barry Allen looks like a homeless guy

Are you a critic? Does your review counts for RT/Metacritic?

Yeah I liked how in The Dark Knight Returns, the armor was actually strong enough to lay some solid punches on Clark before the Kryptonite hits.

Honestly, this should be the end of the Tomato-meter as a gauge of anything. It's been thoroughly exposed. A whole lot of critics should be disbarred from RT as well. It shouldn't be possible to get something this wrong. The only comparable situation I can think of is maybe Speed Racer.

I'm seriously questioning the competence of many critics out there. Wow.

I just got back. The movie felt like someone making a film with a hammer, when the someone hates both Batman and Superman. From the dream sequences that just kept happening, to the weird frequency of horses, to the slow motion scenes, to the slow funeral, to the soundtrack which kept going DUN DUN DUN DUN or DUN DAHHHHH DUN DAHHHHH...very long and rather dreary. Even with the full movie explanation Batman kind of came off like a scumbag.

Wonder Woman was a bright spot, but she still has inexplicably body-exposing armor.

I'd say maybe 4/10 for me. On the bright side, I didn't know about the LEGO Batman Movie.

Plot question, if this sort of thing happened in the comics, I'm assuming Superman isn't supposed to be dead since the dirt levitated a little? (would leaving him in the sunlight have helped? He survived a point-blank nuke and promptly healed back from the sunlight)

I don't know about bump off, but BvS' success or lack thereof is going to determine the future of the films yet to go into production. Was mostly saying that Affleck's theoretical solo film is still probably safer than the announced ones.

There's a great honking hole in the middle of his chest.

What are you talking about.

You know when they take something like DBZ and edit it down for TV. That is what we got. Krillin's ass getting impaled and instead of a hole. They just make that area dark. We see the horn on the other side... but no blood, no hole. The only thing you see is some missing cloth.

Edited DBZ

That laser duel between superman and doomsday was straight outta DBZ.

One other thing, after seeing it, I definitely don't think this movie is so bad that the DCCU needs a reboot. I thought the actual plot may have some problems, but the greater picture of all these characters coming together and how different they are makes me excited. This Batman is one that's broken and hurt but now, in order to not let Superman down in death, Bruce must be the one to inspire other heroes to come forth. The tone does completely change at the end of this movie, and I don't think Bruce will be killing all that much (if at all) later. I honestly like this cast, or at the very least I love Affleck and Irons.
