It seems to be true, yeah. Scouts wanted Byran Murray but Katz forced them to pick the Yak.

Wouldn't put it past them.

The 2012 draft would have been an opportune time to select a defenceman, considering now that 8 of the top 10 picks were defencemen. Yak and AGally were the only forwards, and Grigorenko dropped to 12.
