Is it true that the Oilers' front office didn't want Yakupov, and that the owner demanded they pick him regardless?
IIRC the rumor was that Katz wanted Yakupov, but management wanted Ryan Murray instead (a defenceman).

It seems to be true, yeah. Scouts wanted Byran Murray but Katz forced them to pick the Yak.
Wouldn't put it past them.
The 2012 draft would have been an opportune time to select a defenceman, considering now that 8 of the top 10 picks were defencemen. Yak and AGally were the only forwards, and Grigorenko dropped to 12.

Oooee boys only lost two consecutive games ONCE this season (if I'm correct). Bodes well for playoffs. That means if we win the first game of every playoff serious we win the cup!

Really though, Sharks are knocking on the door too. It's not like they're totally out of the playoff picture.
Even if they lose, I think a Coyotes loss in regulation some other scenario will clinch for the Sharks.
I would assume a Caps fan of all people would understand the folly of over hyping regular season results.
