ok so just 4k upscaling and not actual 4k native rendered games. That's silly but added GPU power is cool I suppose.
If they continue to support the gimpier PS4 then what's the issue? You don't have to upgrade just like any other product line.
How good is that Radeon 280x when it comes to powering a Vive or Oculus headset?
Can you explain for us noobs?
From what I've seen, it's mostly well-off gamers with ample disposable income that support this thing. Which isn't likely a majority of the market.Fucking disrespect! Shame on you Sony! There are almost 40 millions owners out in the wild, so please hold this fucking shit to release in 4 years at least.
I just can't believe there are people who support this nonsense.
Specs sound very plausible. However doubt most games wil be full 4k. Probably 1080-1440p.
The generational model is outdated and needs to be replaced at some point with this exact idea. Might as well do it now!
Someone needs to make a video like this but for PS4K

A veteran of past wars. A hero. A villain. One of our own.
It's just below the minimum performance tier.
And confusing. Why wouldn't PS4 games play better on PS4K by default? No enhancement to existing games out of the box is very disappointing.
Do it in three years then so as not to undercut what I bought a console for in the first place. The generational model is outdated and needs to be replaced at some point with this exact idea. Might as well do it now!
Fantastic, my PS4 is going to be a shitty downport machine...
lmaoWhat's going on here? if Doom bringer pops up I'll know this is all a April Fool's joke by Neogaf leaders.
You don't like hardware upgrades so you're moving to a platform that is all about hardware upgrades?
I still don't understand the meltdowns, this is a positive change.
Almost every AAA release in the recent past has been met with concerns about performance in current consoles.
We can't complain about console performance (sub 1080p, sub 30 fps, fps drops) and at the same time denounce new hardware which would allow games to run closer to PC spec.
I understand that money is an issue for some, but nothing will change for you.. you will still be able to run the same games, albeit at a lower spec (which we would be getting anyway with the status quo).
Something on the scale of Destiny?
Did they just kick NX into Wii U's grave?
Wollan's back? Time to update this image:

Newsflash: compared to PC versions it already is.....

lmao
This is bullshit. Consoles don't even acquire a worthwhile catalog in 3 years. The first year or two is all up-rezed cross-gen bullshit. Year 3 and beyond is when they really start to bloom.
Are there any concrete facts, evidence on this console right now? I am simply guessing based on TDP, heat, price, and performance requirements to hit 4k. It may be far fetched but several months ago a mid cycle console refresh was a joke but here we are.

Exactly! This is an opportunity to close the gap if you don't want to build a PC.
The gap is only gonna get wider with the new cards coming later this year.
If you're this on board with incremental upgrades every 3 years, you should've been on the PC since last decade.
Except I never implied that? If you're on board with spending that much money that often on gaming hardware, you should be on PC, plain and simple. You're gonna have a lot more control and a much better time with the games you play. It's not about having the money vs. not having the money. A few hundred every couple of years doesn't really wreck most people's budgets. The real point of contention is the COMBINATION of factors. Not just "spend money every 3 years", but "spend money every 3 years" + "get an incremental upgrade out of it" + "with the purpose of playing the latest and greatest in terms of tech". That's the kind of experience for PC gaming and you get much better bang for your buck anyway.
If this is true, the PS4 platform is starting to quack like a PC and walk like a PC, but it isn't a PC. For the benefit of the consumer, if the console quacking like PC and walking like one sounds really THAT interesting to you, you really should just go for a PC. Maybe you have the willingness and budget for one and never even knew it.
My goodness. I'm not thrilled about this. I hope TLG isn't one of the default 4K games.
Gah. I really do not want Sony to destroy their goodwill and seviide their fanbase. I don't think that's good for the industry. It's too soon for a new gen. My concern is that this is what it would be like if all 3DS games that game our after N3DS launched had similar problems as Hyrule Warriors Legends does.
I also think this is far too early in the 4ak adoption market for this to be happening. I'm concerned devs will primarily shoot for 4K and the majority of PS4 owners will have the older model and get left in the dust.
(It sounds like this is all happening this year, right?)
If they planned to have iterative consoles all along I wish they would tell us from the start.
He's supposed to be dead!
