Also the part where you become tiny looked like had no lighting at all...The game looks so blurry that it looks sub 720p to me. Nothing is clear and it makes everything seem completely flat. I really do not like this look. It's incredibly off putting.
That's a pretty pointless comparison IMO. It's a 3GB demo...Sigh... at this point I can't even get too disappointed over downgrades, it seems to be a given anymore.
I hope the people that got disappointed by the combat realize that this demo is missing:
-weapon variety
-weapon skills
-party commands / team-up attacks
-quick warps, perfect-timed evasions, armiger manouvres
Sure control weren't well responsive and they didn't put any form of tutorial for the last battle, but please don't judge the final combat system based on this demo!
For the demo itself, it wasn't bad: you get a basic grasp of movement and exploration, combat, the more fantastical elements of the game and the tech that supports it.
They could have chosen something more closer to the game itself, but i like it's experimental nature.
Just hope that people won't change their purchase decision based on a tech demo.
Yeah downloaded it an hour ago and it was probably available a lot earlier. In the UK at least but it should be the same.is it up on EU yet?
You know those RPGs where you can't directly control your party members but can tell them to be aggressive or defensive? This feels kind of like that, only it's your only way of controlling the only character you can play as. Noctis exists in the world of an action game, with full 3D movement and enemy attacks that need to be dodged in real time, but you can only interact with that world through the commands of an RPG. I say 'commands' because that's how it feels; like I'm sending him commands through a megaphone or something, rather than directly controlling him.
I'm fighting this big dude and everything I see on screen is getting my action game reflexes firing. "OK, he's winding up, I'm going to dodge this attack and then wail away on him". Except, in practice, I'll probably dodge the attack, run in... and Noctis might attack. When he's ready. I commence holding the Attack button and then I just have to wait for my character to find the time to get an attack out. Sometimes he'll dodge attacks, sometimes he won't. Eventually I just stopped Dodging altogether and Warped instead, because at least that feels like I'm actually playing this video game rather than watching it play itself, but even then it's dreadfully unresponsive. This combat system feels terrible.
This felt like a less fun Kingdom Hearts.
is it up on EU yet?
The game is clearly far, far better than this demo indicates (Duscae players know this)... but man, I don't blame newbies for taking away the message that FFXV is in trouble.
It's been established by data that the average demo might actually lessen interest in a main game. Well this demo, especially so.
I honestly think if you could turn back the clock 12 hours and cancel this demo, you'd increase sales potential![]()
I've played both episode 1 and 2 of ED, and it was about as bad as this demo combat wise, even if ED did have more options in battles like weapon abilities, cross chain combo and such. I mean there are some improvements here and there, and I prefer manual weapon switching over the trash tier crush ravage thing, but now I really don't know what to think of FFXV's gameplay. I also don't like how Magic is now consumable to an extent, but maybe there is another kind of magic not revealed, which was previously hinted. Air warping was kinda cool, but it just feels shallow for now.
All in all, I am disappointed. Sorry koozek, benzy, Noctisvsstar and M_Night.![]()
I think they really destroy all the hype they made during the conference for this demo. This was clearly the testing ground or a BIG tech demo with the switch and everything. The combat feel a little better then the first demo thought, I'm not sure i like the limited uses of Magic spell, the MP is useless for spell ??
Interesting decision to release this to the public to hype them up for XV; even when disregarding combat completely, everything from music to world design was incredibly stale. If this was supposed to be more of a tech demo (which I'm guessing it's meant to be since you can spawn a bunch of glowing balls and change the time of day, weather, etc), it wasn't impressive in that aspect either.
At least I have my hype in check for XV now.
I hate the battle system a no buy from me
I don't know what the fuck they were thinking.
they probably thought you wouldn't react so harshly to a silly little tech demo.
How long is this demo?
Trying it later
They didn't think people would have strong reactions to the first public demo of a game that some people have been waiting 10 years for?
I think it's fair not to like the combat of Duscae or what is likely XV final combat... but you've got to admit, this demo barely even showed it.
I mean, you can fuck around in that last battle to test at the limits of the battle system, but that's not even the same thing as a game campaign which takes you through it with multiple enemies and abilities. The first 3 sections of this demo showed XV combat at its most rudimentary.
My god the overreactions in this thead are hilarious
You are writing off a Game based on a tech demo.
I knew it didn't look anywhere as good as that video.
