Found 226 of those gold stones...how many are there...? there is a section near the beginning where I see some and a tree log that goes across but I cant figure how to get there...and I missed one sliding down that pissed me off lol...
Anyway, enjoyed this little demo for what it is...
Almost finished the Demo but I think I figured out what I dont like about the gameplay so far. First off, this is awesome! I cant believe they are making a mainline FF game with action combat finally. This is what ive always wanted since playing Kingdom Hearts. Speaking of KH, why is the combat in FFXV so floaty? It should feel just like KH but with the hot swapping weapons mid combo. Just the act of dodging is super slow. I have to pre dodge before the enemy even has a chance to attack and hope it works.
I also hope when we get the full release there will be an option to change the buttons for attack and dodge. Really dont like the set up right now.
When I reloaded the boss a second time (third fight) there was no longer the ability to lock on to street posts or the building as warp points. Any idea what might've happened to cause this? I can't rationalize the ability having suddenly been disabled.
Same. It wasn't enough to make me take a break from the game but the game definitely makes me a little motion sick. I generally don't have this problem with any game and hope the final product doesn't cause this as well (not sure I can pin it on anything specific like the camera, or if it's just the engine and frame rate).
Spent a bit more time with the demo and fighting the last boss. Beat him in various scenarios as below.
Shield Only / No Damage -
Broadsword Special -
Fire Nuking -
Armiger -

I find it pretty challenging switching weapons on the fly I was able to swing the greatsword and keep my air juggle. I'm super excited and I play this like a regular action game no button holding or smashing.Just finished it, combat feels great. Some of these warping in and out combos are cool. Magic doesn't feel quite right. Need to practice defending more haha

I wasn't going to bother with this demo but I was bored and did anyway. One of the worst experiences playing anything ever. What was the point of the yellow things? Why is Final Fantasy now a really terrible platformer? Fully cemented my decision to cancel my pre order. Don't even think I'll buy this when it's on sale. Much better games (actual RPGs) that I can devote my time to. Hate to sound so salty but even compared to Duscae this was a massive let down.
If it was a regular action game they should switch out this shit. Having to physically switch weapons when his whole schtick is to be able to make weapons appear is fucking awkward. Make it into a combo system with the sword being square and the heavy sword being triangle.I find it pretty challenging switching weapons on the fly I was able to swing the greatsword and keep my air juggle. God as long as they go back to a combo system I'll reassign buttons if I have to. But this system is garbage for an action game. It's like they were trying to do dmc but failed at it.

Im sure it wasn't, but having to switch weapons out mid combo/boss battle? That was never the point.
Haha, you are the second person after me who make the Tales Semi-auto mode comparison to what we have here. It really does feel like it. I truly hope there is another game mode, a manual mode. No auto-targeting, no button holding for attack and defend. That would be awesome.
You do realize that the demo starts at the same time of day and with the same weather effect each time, right? Not that it matters anymore as it's already clear that the PS4 version has more going on: https://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1203024So XboxOne has Fog and PS4 doesnt? So Xbone is better?
Yeah sry still not seeing it.
Meteorain is sick and overpowered i can only imagine the adult versionBased Shining Hammer
Based Meteorain
Missed these my first time through.

Why. Just fucking why.

This is so damn trueBecause people kept bitching about not being able to do that during the Duscae demo. A lot of the feedback that Square got was that people wanted to switch the weapons manually during the fight instead of the "combo system" that Duscae had.
The problem here is that Square will never have all fans happy. Do one thing, and people complain. Adjust the gameplay to what people want, and other people complain.
We are seeing it in this very thread. Back when Duscae was released, people complained about the Kingdom Hearts battle system from Versus XIII being gone. "Nomura's vision was compromised!!".
Now the battle system seems to resemble more the one from the Versus days, and now people complain that "It's too much like Kingdom Hearts".
what? visuals are not important for a FF game? since when? its the one part where they always were good at. without awesome visuals FF is just another mediocre jrpg.

Skills? Summons? Team attacks? Who knows still so much to the combat i feel bad for people writing it off so quicklyI think the up and down Dpad will ultimately be for cycling the magic of each specific weapon like Duscae. Trigger and shoulder buttons wonder what will those do
For one, weapons that are slower to hit/more damage (like hammer) have no delay if brought out during a combo initiated by a faster weapon (like sword), but still do more damage.Im sure it wasn't, but having to switch weapons out mid combo/boss battle?
Why. Just fucking why.

I'd be fine with this compromise but having to let go of the movement to press up down left right on the d pad to switch weapons is awkward.I prefer it over duscae where noctis would stutter step to living shit....constantly miss or do stuff I didn't want him to do because the system kept fighting between opener, closer, mid combo all due to it being based on enemies health.
What the should have done was kept that old render idea and have had weapon switching done on L1 and R1 since they moved targeting to L3. flicking the right stick left and right while targeted would change targets or something. While L1 and R1 switches weapons on a wheel.

I never played Duscae, but the combat as present in this demo isn't nearly as responsive as KH and seems way more concerned with its animation loops as inputs feel delayed.Platinum Demo resembles the Kingdom Hearts battle system more than Episode Duscae did. In fact, the movement seems pretty much in line from the battle footage from Versus days.

it's a little fluffy demo...oh my GOD...it's like...man. I give up. I can't believe someone can muster up that much rage to something so painfully inoffensive.
The IQ looks pretty bad to me particularly in the first area of the demo.I think the game could do with some AA but people saying the game looks bad are crazy.
Sure it's similar, but it's definitely not similar in the way I would've preferred. The closest thing I can think of in terms of combat that this game reminds me of is Too Human and it bums me out that I can't really gel with what they're offering here because I like the overall presentation.I never said it was identical, but the style is definitely closer to Kingdom Hearts than Duscae was. People wanted the Kingdom Hearts style back. The team made it closer to that, and people are now complaining about it being too similar.
-"Hold" to defend working on some attacks but not others is silly. It creates a shift in gameplay style between small enemies and big baddies. Instead of a more difficult encounter it makes for inconsistent gameplay.
