Movies audiences liked almost never have 70% drops, whether its a small grossing movie or a high grossing one. 70% drop means it has bad word of mouth.

Nobody remembers ASM2. Sony somehow managed to make the ASM movies so bad and uninteresting that people are too apathetic to even shit on them.

This is true. You may get the odd quip about the movie but it's largely not talked about. Sony has managed to almost perfect the Streisand Effect.

Also: it's time to stop calling BvS "polarizing" or "divisive" as though it's a redux of MoS. Anyone is free to like or defend it, of course, but it's clear at this point that it's been negatively received and regarded as a bad film by the majority of people who've seen it.

Eh no, it is divisive. Peter Travers and Richard Roeper (two top critics around IMO who I trust above all other rag tag publications) gave it glowing positive reviews. Even fan reviews and scores are all over the place. People love it and hate it equally.

There would not be so much heated discussions and numerous threads if everyone agreed it was awful. That's the defintion of a polarising film.

I don't think affleck shits all over Bale like some fans are so inclined to say now. Bale gave a better performance

But aesthetically he's fantastic as Bruce and his rapport with Alfred is off the chain. I don't like this movie but scenes like that workout, him and Alfred engaging in banter and the warehouse have me very optimistic about the batman movie. Despite how meh this film ended up

Batman could potentially be the best comic book movie of the decade. The pieces are there. They just have to use them well.

Irons was serviceable as Alfred. Caine was as well. Affleck definitely is the best looking Batman there's ever been. No doubt about a dude with that physique being able to smash thugs like he did in the warehouse. Of course Affleck himself looks the role of playboy Bruce.

Cavill and Affleck definitely have thr bodies I always imagine their respective heroes to have. Gadot not so much.

I love Bat vs Sup threads because of the spinning. Now it has brought the gift of #supportdcfilms

Stay losing, DC fans.

It's so, painfully, obvious WB wants to catch up with Marvel. They did MoS 3 years ago...and then nothing. Even in MoS there wasn't really anything that hinted at the DCEU. It's like even back then, even after Avengers came out, that WB didn't have confidence in the DCEU.

Snyder explicitly promised a few months before MoS began filming that it wouldn't be part of any broader DCU, and no one involved with the film even hinted at anything to the contrary until many months after production had wrapped.

It's pretty obvious that it was originally intended as part of a self-contained trilogy a la Nolan, and that plans changed at some point in 2012, presumably in response to Avengers.

Exactly when they decided to add Batman and Wonder Woman to the mix is less certain, though there are rumors that the former only came in days before the SDCC 2013 announcement.

Justice League is the sort of movie where cutting its budget would make less sense than not doing it at all.

If it holds, yes, it would be the highest drop for a superhero film -- currently the biggest are for Hellboy 2 and Jonah Hex.

You think WB has any sense?

I expect Justice's League budget to be cut in half or worse.
Sadly that really isn't how Hollywood works for a movie like this. If they had serious concerns they would postpone it and potentially bring in an entirely new group to direct and produce it.
Considering they were "weeks to shooting", it is more likely that WB will throw more money at it in terms of reshoots and re-writes. Snyder probably has had a certain amount of creative control taken away from him. Suits will take over.

"You guys totally want to do a Justice League, right?"

"... we've been looking into the possibility of doing that."

"Well, if we put Batman in the next Superman ... then we can build straight into a Justice League movie"

"I ... don't know if that's a great idea, Zack"

"No, it'll totally be cool. I understand the comic book aesthetic"

"O... ok..."

Good lord those #supportdcfilms images are just SAD.

I mean, I really want to see the DCEU succeed, but man, those people are BONKERS.

Supposedly Snyder has a very strong contract that will give him a big payday if he's taken off the project.

For the first 20 minutes (which is the greatest superhero related thing put to cinema) maybe. But the rest of the movie can't decide if it wants to be a thriller, or an epic, or a muted philosophy piece or an exploration of the psyche of vigilantism or...

It's trying too hard to be too many things while doing none of them well.

DC stans in full panic.

Fire Snyder. MoS did OK but the reaction to it compared to Iron Man should have said it all when it comes to building a whole slate of films around that tone.

Really sucks for moviegoers like me. Iron Man was alright, but I'd take a thousand movies in the ton of MoS before I took even a hundred in the tone of Iron Man.

The whole thing really sucks for people like me who ended up falling in love with BvS quite a bit. Seeing everyone trashing something you thought was amazing is kind of weird. Also strange seeing people revel in trying to nuke the future of something you liked, too.

There's butthurt, and then there's BvS fanboys.

There's hyperbolic and then there's the BvS haters.
