I saw Zootopia last week. I think it was only a good movie... Far from the best Disney film. Can't see it scoring 99%.

If Japan loves Zootopia and it goes on some kind of crazy Frozen run then it will hit 1B or more. That is why I said it may take the crown because Dory and to a lesser extent Ice Age 5 are still coming.

i see what you're saying. I think Nemo did like $100+ Japan.

i just think Finding Dory is gonna do insane numbers... Nemo + Ellen are just way too popular, and even tho the demo's grown up some they're STILL in play. I know so many older peeps w/o kids anticipating Finding Dory... gonna be ridiculous.

Are people just forgetting that there's a Disney princess movie coming out, or is it just expected to not do big numbers?

lowkey rooting for it to do big things (because Hawaii! <3) but no, I don't expect much from it >_<

Yeah, Moana is November, I think? Late September maybe?

They're gonna go on a nice litte run there at the end of the year.

Disney: Moana
Marvel: Doctor Strange
Lucasfilm: Rogue One

Damn Disney. I'm in for all of those.

i think most are waiting to see footage of it first

That's fair. I'm not good at estimates, but it's a Disney princess movie coming out in November. It'll probably not do it, but who knows. I hope it's great, from what we've seen it looks amazing.

Moana. It's coming this winter.

I hope it does really well, but Frozen seemed like such a freak of nature. Nobody expected Frozen to become as huge as it became prior to release. Nobody knows how the first princess movie post-Frozen will do.

I reckon big domestic but not great international grosses.

I actually predict the opposite. I think it'll do alright domestically, but international audiences have been absolutely gobbling up Disney films lately. Frozen was huge in Japan, and Zootopia is causing raves in China right now.

No idea, but if Disney just doesn't screw it up, I think they can count on the intentional haul being impressive. At least, I sure hope so. Disney's been on such a roll lately.

So, before pregnant Batman and a wall of Divergent gifs locked the last thread, I was talking about the possibility of Superhero films passing $4B worldwide this year.

I completely forgot to include Suicide Squad. Even with BvS coming in $100M lower than we were thinking a few days ago, Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, Doc Strange, and Suicide Squad should still be able to collectively gross the $2.4B needed to hit that mark (assuming $775M for Deadpool and at least $825M for BvS).

Sounds like fatigue to me.

Reposting my post from the Zootopia OT:
Awesome post man. Ever since I saw Zootopia I've been wanting to watch it again. I have the inclination to put it at the top of my animated movies list. But I need the Blu Ray first to be sure of it. Can't wait for that release.

I really hope Zootopia can get a best picture nomination. But I won't hold my breath.

Im in the same boat. Apparently we are outliers but I didn't find the film nearly as impressive as everyone else. I mean it wasn't bad, I enjoyed it and all. But it didn't blow me away by any means. That said Frozen didn't do a whole lot for me either. I guess I'm just not super receptive to modern animated films so much.

The RT rating doesn't mean it "scored" a 99%, but rather 99% of the reviewers though the film was good/worth recommending. While it did get a strong reception overall a lot of the reviews were in the 3/5 or 4/5 range. The average critical rating was 8.1/10.

A live action remake like Disney has been doing to their properties for a while now.

Wait what? And it's coming in less than a year? And there hasn't been anything shown of it yet? Or am I just a hermit? EDIT: Oh fuck, it's the one with Emma Watson. I do know about this.

And Ninja Turtles...
Gets no respect as a comic franchise

Who would have thought that Zootopia would have a chance at passing $1 billion?

I thought BvS would dominate but it's sinking harder than the titanic.

If I was a WB exec I would panicking right now.

It looks like Disney is gonna dominate 2016.

Deadpool, the R-rated movie that Fox tried their hardest not to make and Slayven said would bomb hard, is now officially the highest grossing X-men movie ever.

Because RT is a yes or no... Inside Out has an average score of 9 on RT whereas Zootopia is 8.1.

99RT is not the same as 99/100.

Reminder of Disney's 2016.

"You will only skip 2 of these films..."

I shall skip Finest Hours and Alice through the looking Glass.
