Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

I've gotten heavy bullets a few times now and it seems more of a negative item than a positive one. I don't notice a damage increase but man do your bullets go slow. There might be something it goes well with that I haven't got yet.

Using a controller is too hard >.<

I'll eat crow and say it's better

well, I dont know if it is, actually, but my skill remains about the same

I think the challenge of m/kb doesnt come from the WASD movement, but from the fact that the reticle is also your camera, so it moves around; and you end up losing track of your body while focusing on where you're aiming precisely

the aim assist is just kinda good, whereas I despise it in all other games. Im playing with the default percentage.

try playing with the marine at first too I guess, he has better aim

Opposite issue for me. I can't keep track of where I am aiming even with aim assist lol. While MKB I can keep track of it all.

Let me clarify. I guess I am using to playing where I am moving in directions while shooting the other direction which works with both but seems more fluid with KBM. The AA seems to only work when you're moving in that direction. With KBM I quickly scan the room and see the mobs. Then I don't need to look at them just focus on character and cross-hair as I can see the mobs in my peripheral vision. This is why it is hard to use a controller for me. But the more I use it the better I get. Just a shame that unplugging my controller freezes the computer.

I just think there's always a tradeoff

If you mean the
vampire looking lady
she shows up randomly in the store to sell rare items ar low prices.

If you mean
Link
(thats right), he will show up in a random room and give you a quest to map out the whole dungeon (aka go to every room of that floor which I always do anyway) and give you a item for it. Its awesome because its basically a free item.

Funny enough, those were the exact two I was thinking of. Them and
the old bullet dude.

Damn is anyone else getting their fucking ass kicked. When I played nuclear throne a lot I would loop preety consestently but in this game I suck :(

Super fun tho :)

so i made it to chamber 2, quit the game after but now when I load up im in chamber 1?

am i not understanding this game correctly? why is this

First time playing a game like this? It is normal. For a few reasons, I give one out as a freebie. To avoid save scumming =D

avenged Manny but had to fight Treadnaught right after with 1 heart and welp

after playing this for so many hours, I think my best advice is try to use your default guns as long as possible

im seriously not using anything other than the default infinity ammo pistol and shotgun (playing a lot with convict now) till the fourth floor

except on bosses, ofc. I dump everything I have on em. That's my point.

Good advice. Unless that run happened to have a ton of guns of course and even then I save the good ones for later

Also how do you avenge Manny? And has anyone found the robot's arm?

did you get the secret in the tutorial?

play it again, look for a secret

he has some more dialogue, and then the guy who killed him starts to appear consistently alongside the empty minecart room on the third or fourth floor

Oh shit what secret is that?

also on the default guns thing:

try to get or buy passive bullet effects

that's the key. Just now I got 3 passive bullets effect (angry bullets, +1 bullets, fire bullets) and the infinity ammo pistol alone was beasting

its pretty obvious, play the tutorial again and examine all rooms

Is it like a secret wall type thing? I finally saw one earlier and only because I got a map which uncovers every room including secret rooms ;_;

--------yas-----------

it also adds a couple items to the item pool that are kind of essential for late game and secret stages

I still havent been able to access the second secret room, btw.

SPOILERS I guess tho this is hard to figure out on your own, unless you spend time reading item descriptions like I did :p

after you enter the first secret room (fireplace one, sewers) you gotta grab the crown thing at the end of it

which is armor, but has an interesting description....

and im certain you have to avoid breaking it till the next floor (so basically dont get hit for an entire floor), till you get to that altar that's always empty and put it there.

Thats exactly what you do. I assume it gives another material for the
bullet that kills the past at the end?

ahh, okay

thanks.

there is a sense of overall progression by adding more weapons and items to the drop pool thus giving you better odds at succeding

but yeah, it's all about getting good through the first floors by repetition so you can do em as efficently as possible. You're supposed to "beat" the game always starting from the beggining.

I got floor 1 down, usually its perfect or near perfect runs. 2 kinda but sometimes I fuck up and get to 3 with only half health or something. 3 onwards not so much

Great advice! I just love brandishing the ol' magnum and smiley though ... But yeah, maximizing the bigger, novelty guns on bosses sounds like a very wise idea.

Just to add to this, the boss of the 2nd secret room (
Old King
) is a complete pain in the ass. In Binding of Isaac terms he's essentially a champion version of
the Bullet King boss from the first floor
. He's got a larger variety of attacks that are much more annoying and he's as bullet-spongy as a 4th floor boss. Went into the fight with five hearts and a piece of armor and just missed beating him. My Glacier with fire damage that was smoking previous bosses was practically useless against him.

Curious if anyone here has beaten him and if he drops anything unique/interesting.

Is there a way to zoom the screen out? I'm getting in situations where I'm being hit by bullets from offscreen enemies. I read something about pressing R3 but it doesn't do anything for me.

Also: I'm having a tough time finding secret rooms. Aside from the obvious tutorial example, I don't know where the hidden doors can appear in a room's layout so I don't know where to fire my gun. Isaac is easier since the hidden doors are always located at specific points in a room.

How the f do you drop weapons on PS4? I pulled up the weapons I have with triangle but can't drop them. I'm trying to sell a gun to this bro in sewer grate

just hold up on the d-pad

or down

one is guns and one is items can't remember

isnt there a screen with the layout? there certainly is on PC, people asking so much about controls still

Yea, I'm an idiot. I didn't realize you could scroll down in the control menu. Tells you how to drop things at the bottom.

I was able to get the Blooper on floor one since I sold a weapon. whoa boy

Died to something that I felt was kind of broken / badly designed and super cheap. Which is a first, so not going too badly or anything, but yeah.

So the red wizards can absorb your bullets and deflect them, I get that. But they can also absorb your sub-bullets, so things like the mini-eggs that are released from the egg-gun. Now, normally, if a red wizard abosorbs one of your bullet he turns the colour of the bullet red, and it gains red aura, making it very quite clear that it wasn't the bullet you fired out, and is now in fact an enemy projectile. But, the egg gun particles do not change colour and they are tiny in comparison to anything else on screen.

I was on floor 4, and things weren't going that well anyway, but many of the rooms are quite big on this floor, with enemies spawning off-screen. By firing my egg gun around the room, an off-screen red wizard sent back the homing mini-eggs and these had not changed colour, so they looked just like mine, as if they were seeking out another enemy. Not only was this hard to dodge, it was impossible to anticipate as I did not even have the opportunity to see he was present on the map, and even then, it seems like a design oversight that the projectiles do not turn red, like the rest of the projectiles he absorbs.

I've beaten him. And completely forgot what he unlocks. lol Pretty sure I unlocked some item for the item pool, just don't ask me what because I honestly forgot. What I can tell you though is it
does NOT give you a part for the Bullet That Can Kill The Past

Need help with an npc
Trying to get the elevator to work. I did the first 3 steps now I'm told I need a super magical item from the 1st chamber. No clue what to do.

I know this is gonna sound obvious, but a good tip for people having trouble dodging is that, you need to learn that most of the time it's better to dodge towards the bullets than say sideways or backwards (duh)

Even if it'll bring you closer to an enemy it's the easiest way to dodge shit, and always use the tables and walls for cover. It all sounds obvious but you need to jusf train yourself. Will make you go from having problems on lvl 1 to easily making it through the first 2 levels without getting hit...
