Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

Got a merry group going. The turtle seems to love me; this is my third time getting him.

That's not an issue if you use it in situations where you do not have a key. It has a good success rate, and then if it does fail, you can shoot the chest.

I think the pilot is by far the best character. He has more opportunity to gain items via chests, he has cheaper items in shops, he can hold an extra item, and he can hold more ammunition.

He's bare bones at the start but he's a character that creates more opportunities in the long term. You can use the shop more freely because of the discount, and you can get items you otherwise wouldn't be able to via the lockpick. Additionally, you can make the most of of the end-game weapons you do get with the increased ammo. With the pilot and an ammo belt, I can usually use one single gun good gun for the entire game, without the need to switch.

This... i fucking LOVE Pilot. That lockpick has been more good than bad... ive gotten so much stuff on him at one point i had backpack and some other stuff that let me hold even MORE items... so yeah... i love Pilot.

I love all the references l've seen so far, just from the top of my head;

- MGS
- Looper
- Ghostbusters
- Super Meatboy
- Legend of Zelda
- The Matrix
- Judge Dredd
- The good the bad and the ugly
- The Fifth Element
- Megaman
- NES light gun
- Quake
- Blade runner
- Futurama

I reconfigured my controller using the PS4s accessibility functions to create a control layout that doesn't require me to move my fingers and thumbs across any buttons during gunplay.

Blank is mapped to L3
Reload is mapped to R3
Use item is R2
Map is L2
Fire is R1
Dodge is L1

This way you can use blanks, reload, roll, without moving off the right stick or having to 'tap' the fire button (in the case of reload).

Give it a go if you don't like the default layout, or this sounds appealing.

Very similar to my XB1 setup. It is pretty good.

Does anyone know (sidequest)
what do I need to bring to guy to fix the elevator when he says he needs immensely strong magic from chamber 1?

Just got to the 4th chamber then died. but I got the megabuster and it's amazing! charge shot kills most enemies in one hit and it still only uses one bullet.

I think
you get an item for beating the first floor boss without getting hit. If you keep talking to him he mentions something like that.

Holy moly stinger is OP against bosses

Stinger absolutely carried me from the 4th floor boss onward. Not just against
Wallmonger
and
Dragun
, but also for clearing out some of the real tough rooms on the 5th floor. Only reason I was able to beat the final boss with two hearts to start was the massive swarm of bees going to town on him.

Just realized I should map blank to a side mouse button, might actually use them then

That was the very first thing I did before I even started playing. Looked over the default mapping in the settings, saw it was set to "Q" and said "Nope". Set it to one of the side buttons on my MX518 and haven't looked back. Just feels so right.

The only question now is what to do about space bar for active items. I don't know about anyone else, but I go floors at a time between remembering that active items even exist.

Stinger is what got me to the fifth floor. Ha!

Wish you could flip R2 and L2 on the PS4 version.

You can change button configs in the PS4 options under Accessibility. It's changed globally so you just have to change it back for other games.

Anyone notice seeing something moving behind the top walls sometimes? Always the same shape and colour, grey. Is that anything? Looks like smoke or a ghost.

I did the secret wall in the tutorial, gave him the shield and shit but he didnt give me anything?

Between this and Dirt Rally, I am getting my arse kicked this week!.

I had a sweet run last night when I had so really solid weapons before the end of floor one, got to floor three and got my arse handed to me on a silver platter, then the subsequent runs had absolutely nothing in terms of weapons, the RNG can sometimes really kick you hard.

Also, I've noticed that the deeper you go, the harder the enemies appear to get on earlier levels, I am sure the enemies I used to get on floor 1 were much, much easier than the enemies I now face having been on floor 3.

Isn't that how games usually work? Why are you surprised?

Trying to think of a game that dynamically increased the enemy difficult on first / early levels depending on how far you've gotten in the game......and I can't think of any.

Enlighten me?

The enemies on the first level don't get any harder.
Same amount of bullets to kill them no matter how deep you go....

Am i the only one that thinks this game suffers from having so many different guns, making each playthru different and never giving you a proper chance to learn it?

Binding of Isaac starts ramping the difficulty of enemies on all floors after you start clearing the game a few times.

But I've got no idea what this game does, I can't clear the third floor currently.

NOooooooooooooooOOOoooo

I had good luck and finished the first floor with 4 hearts AND 3 armors.
Found by accident the shortcut guy and he requested my Chamber 1 and the game is now stuck there. Can't move, can just push start or select ;(

Fuck this shit it's unfair!

This just happened to me when I had Scattershot and the Com4nd0 rocket launcher. Fucking damn it.

Game is legit good. God I love the pop culture / references. Even simple stuff with like picking up the AK-47 and seeing "Accept no substitutes"

The first part is true, second part isn't. Enemies get more health as you progress though the game. For example, it takes 3 shots to kill a regular Bullet Kin with your starting pistol on chambers/floors 1 and 2, and then on floor 3 they take 4 shots.

It makes me wonder if guns scale to whatever floor you first pick them up on, but I haven't tested that yet.

I know I worded it poorly, It was a reaction to him saying that when you reach a deeper level (for example level 4) the next time your level 1 enemies will stronger. Which isn't true...

Ah I see.

I almost wish there was an option that let you turn on damage values or have a training room so you could get a read on DPS with weapons. It's hard for me to tell the effectiveness of guns on bosses compared to other ones at times. Actually it might just be the health bar is too small and out of the way for me. Either way not a big deal.

Man I was super excited for this, but playing with a controller on PC feels impossible. Does it lock on? Is it region based? How the hell does it work?

There is a decent amount of aim assist by default, you can crank it up a bit though. Playing with a Steam controller personally and it works well.
