So PsVR Trinity 2019?

So PsVR Trinity 2019?
This sounds completely uninteresting from a gaming perspective. I guess this really is to just push 4K TVs.
Absolute worst gen.
First the Playstation VR was called "Morpheus"
Now the new PS4 is called "Neo"
Obviously Sony wants us in the Matrix...there is no spoon.
PS4 Neo settings: locked 30fps, 1080p, good AA and AO, smooth shadows and longer draw distance
PSPoor settings: 20-30fps, dynamic resolution, low AA, jaggy shadows, more noticeable pop-in
Exactly. This shit is terrible all around. I havent seen a single reason why it would be good either, just wait two more years and come out with a significant upgrade.
I hope MS makes a crazy powerful Xbox and releases it like a year after PS4 Neo and just crush the competition.
The hubris on Sony's side. Ugh. Im close to being done with them.
Although it seems a lot of people itt seem to like it. Id rather go back to pc's. This isnt what I buy a console for, to get rid of it every three years and buy its better brother.
Lol he complained about Sony doing this mid gen upgrade then goes on to wish for an ever more disparitive upgrade for the Xbox One...

Here is my question for the ultra tech-savvy people in here:
With this upgrade, will the "visual upgrades" be noticeable enough to entice the general public to upgrade?
Honestly wonder if this will affect Final Fantasy XV.
If your console was going to play that game at 30 FPS than it would play that game at 30 FPS regardless of the PS4k existing or not. All of our games already turned down visual ports of PC games to begin with.
Pretty much. I have zero faith that devs will continue to optimize for the lower spec'd PSPoor.
If it IS this year, I gotta say, it's a lot for Sony to ask consumers to drop $400 on a new upgraded system AND $400-$500 on PSVR. I have the means, but I can't imagine many people will do this. One or the other.
What Sony would need to start doing is actively enforcing a locked 30fps for every game's Base Mode the same way they enforce locked 60fps for PSVR games. We would still probably see games designed to take advantage of the NEO that would mean the Base Mode would have to be set at 720p, but I think that as long as the framerate was playable it would be acceptable, especially if the effects looked really good.

I don't see why any developer would go back to update their old games to make use of the Neo's upgrades, especially FromSoft.
People seem really paranoid about this. They shouldn't be.
No Polaris!? Dangit man, NX is going to be Wii U Part 2 isn't it? I got my Wii U all boxed up for when they announce it so I can trade it in at Gamestop, but now I don't know.![]()
Sony seems committed to keeping the NEO and the original PS4 player bases connected. As such, there will be no NEO-only games, and Sony will not let developers separate NEO users from original PS4 players while playing on PSN. Likewise, Sony explicitly and repeatedly states that developers cannot offer exclusive gameplay options or special unlockables for NEO playersso dont expect NEO owners to get a level editor or a special Rocket League car that you wont have access to on your original PS4.
And you've officially went full silly. The OP literally said the exact opposite of what you keep crying about. Playing the "what if" game isn't making your argument any more valid.
Honestly I will buy one if it means XV runs/looks better.
I am a part of the problem. :\
So why are you worried then? Just like how pretty much all games still target the original 3DS and run fine in this case all (going by the op) PS4 games will target the original PS4 and run just fine.
You are overstating the demand for PSVR. PS4K will outsell it handily.
Yeah a nice controlled leak. No worries for older ps4 users at all guys! Your games wont suffer at all
*rolls eyes
Because you also have things like Hyrule Warriors on 3DS that is basically unplayable without a N3DS. Probably others, to be honest I don't really care about portable games very much in general so I'm not aware of how many suck on the original 3DS, but I've seen complaints about at least some.
People seem really paranoid about this. They shouldn't be.
It's more toxic than a lot of (often PC-focused) types here think, for both devs and ordinary consumers. Hopefully this idea burns to the ground because it pleases nobody, least of all the early adopters every console needs and Sony got this cycle.
People like actual upgrades.
Yeah this seems pretty accurate. It's been proven over and over again . When you give devs more power they'll go for effects over frame rate . This has me worried about the performance of future PSPoor games.
Don't forget their PS9 commercial! They want our minds in the matrix man!
Oh yeah, because before the PS4K, all PS4 and Xbox One games ran perfectly with no drops or tearing or other issues. Give me a break.
So basically a 380x. GCN 1.2 introduced some additional bandwidth compression so even though the bandwidth maybe low, it seems sufficient.
Those specs are underwhelming.

Money obviously.
That GPU is quite a bit better and the CPU speed boost is nice.
So yes it will be noticeable but not a generational difference. Just expect better AA, AO, more solid framerates, draw distances, some better resolution in some cases etc. The core assets will likely be mostly the same between both versions just NEO will be more stable with better image quality mostly
How do you know CPU is bottoeneck? These any evidence/comparison?That CPU is super bad news. It's already causing multiple bottleneck with the current PS4 GPU. Bumping the speed by roughly 30% is not going to cut it and will probably strangle that GPU. VR is probably going to be the biggest benefitor from the extra GPU performance, but don't expect 60FPS from current titles. That's not how technology scales.
So no change then
Can anyone explain this in Dragonball Z terms for me?
Looks pretty mch like what I was expecting given the leaks.
I also expected the mandate to fully support PS4 and put a NEO mode, but I do not believe the NEO mode will actually be mandated for devs who would just want to release on PS4. Fpr them I guess the SDK might just offer a "basic NEO mode", as I doubt Sony would want to piss off devs who would rather keep dev straightforward.
So, it's going to be a $100 more expensive PS4 with UHD BR meant mostly for 4k TVs, with some games having a "PS NEO mode", 1080p60 at best I imagine.
Will make more sense for devs to tune the game to the PS4 as they -have- to support it, and then enjoy the upgrade in power for NEO mode.
Hopefully the Neo screens/ video of gameplay will be clearly identified.
They could be releasing the PS4K for many reasons;
a) They want to counter the NX
b) More horsepower for VR
c) Testing out a new business model
Or maybe they can simply do whatever they want now because the PS4 is so dominant. I wonder if it will be possible to simply patch old games to add a NEO mode. That would be great tbh. I'm definitely not going to buy these games again, they can forget about it.
