Yeah. The DKCR games are two of my favorite 2d platformers of all time. The first one I think gained a lot from being developed by Retro - but when they had laid down the foundation many other Nintendo teams and partners could've worked with those building bricks for a sequel. I hope we get another one of those games some day, but we don't need Retro working on it.
 
Not even remotely going to be excited about software until I see whether or not they are going with another terrible, gimmicky controller. If so, I'll be skipping yet another Nintendo console.

The gamepad may have been too expensive for its own good but it hardly detracted from the experience once you had the system - you could play most games like you normally would on it or the pro controller.

I don't think this Indie Gamer Chick is perceived to be a credible source at the moment.
 
no need to defend herself if she was 100% sure of her information. of course some people won't believe her if the information is not coming directly and officially from the company.

There is nothing shocking about what she is saying anyway. Nintendo are already pretty great with Indies on current platforms and I would expect them to expand on that on the NX.

I took it to mean "at launch of the system, not in its later years"

In any case she's close to many developers so I don't expect her to throw lies around, wouldn't make any sense

man this source wars stuff is crazy. the thing is she wasn't always accurate and no guarantee she would be this time(even with a stellar track record of accurate information). but if her information turns out to be true people who called her a liar will eat their words for sure.

that's true. their machine need a healthy ecosystem and indie games help with that a lot.
maybe Pyre will be an NX launch title.

Indi dev told us you could manage 8 colors instead of 4 with the nx controller.

The Gimmick probably will be that there are more buttons, maybe scrolling wheel.

Maybe a bit to diffecult to handle :p Better you wait until e3, but if you expect a simple controller like xbox with 4 buttons, you'll probably will skip the nx too.

No, she was the first one to say Paper Mario was coming for the Wii U. It was announced on the direct after that.

Wasn't a game that they wanted to do? Never understood people saying that it was a waste of retro talent, when they said time and time again that it was the game they wanted to make and a sequel to their best selling game.

Every hardware has their purpose.
The wii u pad had a lot of good things too.
You could play off tv. You could do things like split multiplay or easy inventory,map or new gameplay things like what they did with nintendo land.

Many wii u owners did find the wii u pad comfortable to hold.
And most games were playable with the pro controller.

The only thing you could say about the wii u is that the specs were lowered because of the wii u pad. Yet it was a console which is strong than prev gen.

Did you know that Sony is promoting motion controls with VR
Did you know that Sony controller has also gimmicks touch abilities and tilt sensors.
yes those can also be abused within games.

I remember a lot of people saying "is that what fans wanted?", referring to that completely fake rumor. Also the sentiment was that Retro was somehow making something with uber graphics, I would say that expectations based on rumors did a big damage. I also agree with you, overall most people didn't want a DK game.
But those rumors man. Even months later you could still see people saying that Retro had claimed they were making "something fans wanted", wich never happened.

She mostly reported on new infrastructure features (unified wallets, Miiverse for 3DS) and told a date of a then-upcoming Nintendo Direct.

It's the internet. People are HUNGRY for news about a thing in the industry that they love. You don't have to click these threads.

Like, when every website in the industry posted about every word or fart that came out of David jaffe about anything, followed by the immediate gaf thread, I was super fucking tired of it too.

Just don't click the threads, and soon enough your eyes scroll right over them and you no longer process it and they will go away all together when the stuff is announced.

Or you make yourself irrelevant by shipping bad games and leaving the teet that feed you. Sorry, I'm still bitter about jaffe somewhat.
