Cautiously optimistic. I hope its finally the sequel to Battlefield 2142 cause it still remains one of my all-time favourites of the series for how many great new ideas it had.
Though to be honest the Battlefield series have been in a serious downhill slope since Battlefield 3. If any pattern is to be recognized its that the next one is gonna be Modern Warfare, have sloppy netcode that takes 3 years to fix, poor map design with too much focus on "LEVELUTION BRO!!!!!11!!" and less focus on actual good design, map packs which adds constantly new modes but doesn't retroactively try to add them to older levels to make them more relevant, map packs that threaten also to split the community too much and microtransactions, oh god so much microtransaction loot box bullshit. And of course a singleplayer mode that absolutely sucks and should never have been made, but since apparently it turned out to be a myth that if you removed the singleplayer to focus on multiplayer, you would get more content for the other (see Star Wars Battlefront) then it doesn't matter if they have it or not.
Fucking hated the whole "random accessory packs", just give me coins or whatever like the latest Call of Duty's and let me choose what accessories I unlock for my weapons. Keep the RNG loot boxes to cosmetic stuff for people with too much disposable income.
They got rid of random Battlepack unlocks for progression in Hardline, you purchased the gun, attachments and gadgets and didn't need a certain score for a class to be able to unlock a gadget. Your score translated into money earned to buy equipment and Battlepacks were a completely optional purchase. I did like the map design in that game dlc maps included, even though it is an infantry focused Battlefield. Felt a lot more balanced than BF4s, even though there were Levolutions were still in.
And guys, I've been playing a WW1 Battlefield for months now. http://youtu.be/gRrXUuGf6zc
