Battleborn |OT| Multiplayer Online Bad-Ass Shooter

Would love that this game gets a healthy community - it's just what i missed since monday night combat but we all know how that went :(

Still on the fence about ordering it (missed the beta) - releasing on the same day as the overwatch beta is tough.

Even though the games are not really comparable most people think that way and this will hurt the game at least at release week until the beta ends.

There is always steam refunds right? So maybe that will get people buying and hopefully liking it.
 
A general thing with this game at least for me :

Don't write it off after 1 or 2 matches. This game really shines once you find your hero. It's not about fast killing of the fotm hero but the one that fits your plays best.

Started the beta with Thorn and absolutely hated it. I was so so close to just delete it. But after another match and changing the heroes it clicked. And once I unlocked phoebe it clicked really hard. There is 25 unique heroes waiting to be tried by you!

I just can give you the advice to get the game if you had fun with the beta and become part of the community and make it bigger instead of waiting on other people to do that "job" for you.

Meanwhile, Thorn was who I tried after I was about to give up and absolutely loved her. So yeah, find the hero that clicks with you in bot matches or co-op, as that will then allow you to get your head wrapped around the larger game.

Unfortunately, Reyna was where it clicked for me. I say unfortunately, because once you realize how big of an impact a support has in the multiplayer, it makes it hard to choose anything else even if you like other characters as well.
 
Beta sold me. What an amazing game! Glad the wait is finally over, those 2 weeks almost killed me.

Sad thing is, I don't care about Overwatch anymore :/ I can always get it later though.

Same, I'm gonna pick this up but I won't be playing until Thursday. I must get a final project done for class and if I start playing BB I will not stop.
 
Picked the PC version up and I'll be getting Overwatch as well. Despite Randy Pitchford I still liked the beta enough for the price I paid and I can't hold all of Gearbox responsible for his fuckwittery.

With this, Overwatch, Doom and Uncharted 4 I'll be kept busy enough this summer :P
 
What's the deal with the Randy Pitchford hate? Did I miss something? (Honest question as I really don't follow individuals in gaming and have no idea who he is)
 
Beta really clicked for me when I started playing Rath and Phoebe, preorder is on the way!

Can't wait to jump into some more incursion, I just couldn't put it down!
 
I really enjoyed the beta, but I am so afraid this game won't sell and won't have much of a community. And I feel like the price will drop decently quickly. I don't know what to do!!!
 
Yeah, I was on the fence before the open beta. Now I'm trying decide whether I should get the deluxe edition or standard.
 
I feel like I should post this in this new thread. This is a post I made from the old Battleborn Beta thread in regards to the differences between Overwatch and Battleborn:


Overwatch:
TTK(time to kill) is much much shorter in Overwatch. A fair amount of characters can one shot other characters.

Modes in Overwatch are very much like Team Fortress 2 modes. There's payload, point capture/defense and king of the hill. I think that's it.

There's no level up mechanic in Overwatch. Every character gets their ultimate by dealing enough damage/waiting a set amount of time.

Respawn timers in Overwatch are generally small. Average FPS respawn timers.

Matches in Overwatch are 6 vs 6, regardless of mode.

You can switch between characters during battle, like in Team Fortress 2.

Overwatch currently has 21 playable characters. More characters may yet be added.

There is no single player component to Overwatch. You can play matches against bots, but there is no story mode.

Overwatch currently has 12 multiplayer maps; 3 per game mode.


Battleborn:
TTK is much longer in Battleborn. Enemy minions die quickly, but the heroes generally don't die very quickly. There's virtually no one shot kills in Battleborn.

Modes in Battleborn are very MOBA like. "Incursion" is a standard "destroy the enemy base" MOBA mode complete with minions. "Meltdown" is a defend and escort the minions to a certain point mode, and there's a point capture mode that seems to have no minions.

There's a level up mechanic in Battleborn, complete with a Heroes of the Storm style talent system. Every level/level up during a match unlocks a new talent. Ultimate skill unlocks at level 5. Maximum level is 10, during battle.

Respawn timers can be long in Battleborn. They're short at first, but at later levels, you stay dead for 60 seconds or more.

Matches in Battleborn are 5 vs 5, regardless of mode.

You are locked to the character you pick during matches, no switching of characters.

Battleborn currently has 25 playable characters. 5 more characters will be added for free in future updates, bringing the total playable roster to 30 characters.

Battleborn has a story mode which can be played single player or co-op in addition to the multiplayer. Each mission generally takes 30-60 minutes to complete, and there are eight of them currently; five more missions are coming via DLC. Players can also play multiplayer modes against bots.

Battleborn currently has 6 multiplayer maps; two per game mode.


There's more differences aside from what is listed here, but those are the major gameplay differences between the two games.
 
Any word on characters that are initially unlocked? Should we assume it's the same as the beta? I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do first!

I'm looking forward to the campaign so I'm thinking I'll at least start that first. But I had a surprisingly good time playing Meltdown in the beta

I'd imagine it's the same as the beta considering the way unlocking worked. Starting with the campaign seems like a good idea, since several characters are unlocked via the campaign(can be unlocked via level up as well, though).

I believe it'll be the same unlocking-route as the Beta. There's a bonus for some PS4 players though:

Picking up a few PC copies for myself and my kids. Will be fun to play together. Already have mine preloaded and am looking forward to Tuesday. I do wish you could at least get character XP in bot matches, though, simply because of how much less pressure that would be for my kids as this will essentially be their first MOBA. Ah well, they'll just have to git gud.

You can get XP in story missions.

And I think you might be able to get a little from bot matches.

I said it in the beta thread but damn it's frustrating having an XB1 copy of the game this bank holiday weekend and not being able to do anything with it. Can't even browse the menus. Wish they'd open up the servers early for those of us with early copies, I'd like to just do some singleplayer to practice.

For me, this wins pretty well for being a Split-Screen Co-Op game I can play with the spirit of SMITE.

And I'll take that Saturday-Morning style story with boss battles over the more "serious" stuff in something like The Division any day. It's kind of nice to play a game that knows it's stupid and campy, and isn't trying to pretend I should take the sweary, uber-wanna-be serious story... seriously.

It reminds me of Borderlands 1 in this way. I can play an laugh, rather than just roll my eyes at certain things that just constantly don't click with me for an hour and a half, lol.

I really have less and less love for straight-up shooting in games now-a-days. It's always good for me, to play something that's less about "Boom, Headshot!" (how many games can you get headshots in and still feel like they're special?), and more about outmaneuvering and outwitting your opponent.

There's truly not enough out there like Monday Night Combat (not even Super MNC, when it was actually relevant), and I'm happy to have something else to fill that void.
 
Great Job with OP!

I wish some members here didn't boycott the game because of their personal vendetta against Randy. They essentially punished the team for their hard works on the game because of what CEO did. Hopefully the franchise would be successful because I really a lot of things about BattleBorn.

When are they going to drop a trailer for new character?
 
I played the beta. I'm down to purchase on console as soon as there's an FOV slider.

Has anyone heard if they will implement one? Battleborn is just too hectic for its default narrow field of view.
