oh it got nerfed before this beta?

to be honest, I havent experienced the opness since the start of this beta, but in last beta, that shit was STRONK

From the 22nd April patch notes:

McCree
Alternate fire recovery time (i.e. the time before McCree can shoot again) increased from 0.3 seconds to 0.75 seconds

Developer Comments: McCree’s alternate fire is intended to be more situational, but often players were using it as his primary way to deal damage. This change makes it weaker to use repeatedly, while maintaining its power as a finisher and as part of his roll combos.

There was a massive shitfight over it on the forums and /r/overwatch.

Got forced into support a lot more than I'd of liked yesterday, and to my surprise I really like Lucio. A freaking bard in an FPS.

The amount of people that just refuse to play the objective is just astounding to me. Really hope the final release isn't like this.

Really frustrating. I don't mind losing, but I hate losing when there isn't even an attempt at winning.

It will be in random public games, for the life of the game. The sheer number of people dicking around will drop, but I don't imagine it'll ever drop to what I'd consider a tolerable level. See Team Fortress 2 PUGS.

Which is why I'll move on to more competitive lobbies, or a league. At least play with friends to avoid some of the headaches of randoms.

I am incredibly happy that this game doesn't have an attachment/weapon treadmill grind. I always hated that about games like COD and Batllefield: if you don't play 10 hours a day you'll get destroyed by all these perks and guns that you don't even have access to because you haven't grinded them out. Don't even get me started on how it's impossible to balance 40 guns that can each take 3 attachments each with an additional 4 perks and 1-2 other equipment slots. Everyone in those games finds the one overpowered combo and then just runs it in every game.

For the 6+ months that I've played Overwatch I haven't seen any overpowered loadouts because there are no loadouts. There are 21 characters and they're all balanced pretty well. Yes, the game modes are relatively simplistic, but the game is about the heroes and the way their abilities interact rather than creating overly complex maps and modes that people need to learn.

If you don't like simplicity in your FPS then this is not the game for you unfortunately. I'm personally ecstatic that this game is coming out, because it's rekindled my interest in MP FPS, which I haven't felt since Modern Warfare and Black Ops.

Gotta love it when you heal 40% of the damage and don't receive a single MVP vote

One time the "Play of the match" went to this guy on the opposing team playing as Reaper, and he pretty much demolished our entire team in one fell swoop. He also did the most damage of anybody in that game. Naturally, his team won. However, I did my freaking hardest to out-heal the shear carnage he was causing to our team, but to no avail. The cool thing was, despite that guy essentially being the star of the match, I ended up winning MVP instead of him because of how much damn healing I had done. As if folks were saying "Hey man, you tried". It was pretty gratifying :)

But yeah, healing is a thankless job most of the time. As is the case in most class-based games, unfortunately :/

Man, blizzard his region stuff is so incredibly ancient and dumb. Region specific friends lists? That is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. Please tell me Blizzard is going to learn it is not 2000 anymore and implements a modern system?

I feel like at some point they'll find a way to have supports get play of the game. A well timed Zenyatta or Lucio ult may not be flashy but it's how you win close matches.

I noticed a 'shutdown' descriptor on a POTG last night, is that new? A Widow got it for headshotting a Pharah just as she started her ultimate. Change of pace from 'oh look another reaper suicide diving' so it stood out to me.

This game is INSANELY frustrating.

All teams are uncoordinated naturally, but the defense has such a huge advantage then.
It is much easier to put on an uncoordinated defense than an offense.

There are maps like Hanamura where a shit team (aka all of them right now) will never, ever, get through that big first door.

And you can tell people via chat or via voice, it doesn't matter, hey won't listen.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck I swear

I guess I don't "get" Lucio. I see people using him well, but the half a dozen times I've used him, I have a hard time keeping people alive, feel very squishy, and don't seem to be able to come out on top in almost any fight. Or even get away from most fights.

Perhaps if I learn when to use his abilities, I might have a better time with him. As is though, I can use Mercy and Zenyatta just fine. So maybe I'll let other people main Lucio.

Hmmm... quick question.

I bought the game for PC, but if I also pick up a PS4 version to play with my friends does my character progress transfer over? I assume it's all tied to the same battle.net ID so why not?

PLS

Look, I played WoW for years. People never learned how to play battlegrounds and just ran forward attacking the first thing they saw. I bet they still do.

really tired of a direct rocket/nade doign 120 when a body shot from a sniper 200. What is that, And i'm talking about a direct hit not a floor hit, not a wall hit, something that takes some skill doing 120 even at close range is crazy

Which is why matchmaking needs to be in at the start, not "later" or "soon"

PS4 people are stingy as hell when it comes to voting at the end of the match. Someone only gets 5 votes maybe once every 3-4 games. And that's not from people leaving either.

what blows my mind is when you are the only person in the voting from your team and you healed the fuck out of your team but you get 1 vote.

I can confirm that Warsong Gulch is the same sort of PVP purgatory that it was ten years ago, where players forego capturing the opposing team's flag in favor of endlessly trying to farm kills in the middle of the map.

Especially if you play Alliance ><

Nothing will transfer to the full game.

Anyone have any speculation on which platform might have the highest/most consistent player base?

I'll probably buy the game but don't know whether to do it on PC or PS4. I really don't care about control preference, I just want there to be a lot of people and games. I bought Black Ops 3 on PS4 instead of PC for population alone.

separate ecosystems unfortunately. As far as i know the Consoles don't actually use battle.net, similar to diablo 3. i mean you can link your account but that's about it. no idea why.

The votes are meaningless though. They're just a little something extra to hopefully make people feel good. But if you don't get any votes, it's no big deal.

That being said, I always vote support.

I would guess PC, if for no other reason than that's where most of Blizzard's fanbase lies.

I felt like that for several weeks during the beta. Eventually you get better and move up in the matchmaking rankings and you realize that offense actually is much easier to play than defense. Blizzard's internal stats show that offense wins more often in higher skill levels, and defense wins more often in lower skill levels.

The reason the chokepoints are necessary (although I agree that they can be frustrating), is that it only takes a single good push from the offense to win. Without chokepoints the defending team would never be able to win, because a single team wipe would result in a loss.

a Jet Set Radio bard no less. Still don't like his voice or design at all but his gameplay is great. Skins can fix it.

I feel like he came to me totally naturally, but generally just use the speed boost to get back to the fight or move between objectives and leave healing mode on otherwise. In teamfights you want to keep line of sight on your team and always keep moving. Lucio can put out some solid damage and there's no reason not to be shooting at stuff off in the distance - he can kill turrets from sniper ranges surprisingly easily.

His alt fire is great on any map where you can knock people off stuff. He's fast enough that you can disengage and run to grab health, so learn where the pickups are. You won't outheal concentrated fire so don't worry too much about keeping that suicidal Roadhog at full health all the time.

He's a character that helps by just being there, but rather than resulting in a boring passive character it frees you up to pick off low health characters, screw with enemy healers, annoy snipers or just dodge like a madman.

If you order a physical copy of the game on PC, is there a redeemable code use the game without the disc inserted?

It's only £35 on Amazon vs. £45 on Blizzard's store - but I don't have a disc drive in my current build.

im thinking since it's a blizzard game. the discs will end up being a formality and ul be able to launch from battle.net browser after you enter the cdkey/install

I almost always go Symmetra on Payload maps because teleporters are such a godsend

She is a very all around support, unlike Mercy who literally can't defend herself, if any attackers dare jump on her without full health, they are walking into trouble, in close range the main weapon DPS is insane, one or two seconds of channeling plus a melee can finish a kill easily.

PC I would imagine as that is where the blizzard fan base mostly is

Those do get POTgwhen they're well timed though. Support potgs are relatively common now, people are just shit at the game cause it just started.

Matchmaking IS in. You're getting matched with literally anyone because nboody has an MMR built up and most of the playerbase is dogshit on day 1.
