Aren't the GT guys in the no game will ever get a perfect score camp? So probably not, though maybe they've changed that with them using a star scale now.

Yeah, their 5 star scale is:
5 Stars - Masterful, 4 Stars - Excellent, 3 Stars - Recommended, 2 Stars - Lacking, 1 Star - Poor

So 5 stars is possible as it doesn't necessarily mean it's perfect.

I hope there aren't a bunch of review-in-progresses. It's good that they are holding judgement until they have the complete experience, but it makes threads like these boring haha.

If another review score scenario like the Uncharted 3 one happens.... oh, boy.

Who is reviewing it at GB?

My current meta prediction is 95 with the same scores except Poly being 9/10, GB 5/5 if it's Brad and not Jeff.

I think it's Jeff. Brad's PSN profile says he played the game for the first time today. Maybe he had been playing with the appear offline.

Edit : apparently it's Dan.

Day 1 whether it got 99 or 36 on meta because I liked what I saw so far and I give no shit about what other journalist think about it..

Happy gaming day everyone :)

The most important thing is sale (don't worry about this one though) because we need to let publishers know that not everygame needs to be open-world with checklist missions

You are right about sales being the bottom line but a lot of the time sales are a function of good reviews.

I think this style of game needs great reviews in order to have a long tail sales wise, U4 is not The Division, an mmo style tps with friends that you know is gonna be a huge hit regardless of what reviews say.

I think that reviews helped tremendously to TLOU for example.
Agree. When QB failed to hit critically, it scared me for the entire linear story-driven action genre set.

Can you imagine being a publisher, putting in tens of millions of dollars into a new IP, which is a single-player only game that takes years to build and 10 hours to complete... and then it reviews only okay and sells only okay, not enough to recoup the budget? Will you ever take that risk again?

And then you read the reviews, and you see the criticisms -- too much like a movie but not a good story... too linear... not enough replay value... no multiplayer.... Gee, I wonder if that'll encourage you to stick to your old open-world IP next time, or focus on online-heavy games?

Not just shooters like Uncharted or QB either. Think back to God of War III. Sweet game, good seller. But it's 6 hours long, ridiculously expensive. Why would you take that risk again in the future?

Shit, Epic even complained about Gears being too risky and expensive, to the point where they went FTP. Ugh.

Yup, exactly that, we need a huge U4 success, reviews and sales, it should be important for every gen of the genre, regardless if you own the console or not.

You can check my post history, I was really holding hands for QB's success before reviews came out even though I know I won't buy it (don't have XB1), it's been too long since we had an amazing game in the genre, and I feel that if U4 will disappoint it could really hurt this genre's future, ND are the kings of this genre, and they have such a huge part in shaping up this genre and gaming in the last 7 years, if their game will fail what other publishers will think about doing a cinematic TPS?
