I'm so stoked for this! The Uncharted series was one of the reasons I picked up a PS3. After the Uncharted series and The Last of Us, I'm excited where Naughty Dog will go next and what the team could do on PS4K. OP, the US GAMER review is a 4.5/5 not 10 if someone hasn't mentioned it yet. (USGamer - 4.5/10)

I'm pretty sure someone is meticulously combining through this thread and collecting all of the:

a) potential wall of shame posts

and

b) "it begins" posts bracing themselves for meltdowns

True. I honestly don't think that scores like Uncharted 2 managed to get them (96/100 meta) are possible right now. No game this gen managed to get there yet. Although, to be perfectly honest, I don't know how Uncharted 2 managed to get 96 in the first place, as awesome as that game is. Huh.

Though Uncharted 2 is among my top 5 favorite games ever, I see what you mean. If we really sit down and take a good look at the top reviews from last gen, you'll detect far more leniency in general. One that surprised me was GTA4 in particular.

But from a gameplay systems perspective, would you not say the elements introduced are actually a fairly conscious effort to evolve from previous iterations? The grapple, the wide linear level design, multiple pathways, introduction of vehicles, tagging, more dynamic options with combat etc. I get that it's not going to offer as big a surprise in terms of overall impact, which goes without saying for sequels, but to my mind ND has actually made some pretty valiant attempts to switch things up, whilst still keeping to the historic franchise flavour. Point being, I'm not sure I'd personally scold the game for a lack of innovation or impact, but that's just me.

I'd agree that Naughty Dog has done its best to evolve the formula, but I can tell you that some are probably chasing the same impact Uncharted 2 had back in the day. I'm not sure the series can really hit that, but UC4 does its best.

Some new additions work, some don't. Vehicles are cool, but two of the larger vehicle sections rob the game of its pacing. Tagging is nice, but it highlights some of the better stealth options that other games have that are missing here. The grappling hook and more vertical environments is a winner though.

I still think it's great and ultimately it sits at the top for me, but I could see why other reviewers might take issue with it here and there.

lol yup no doubt several people are. People love that sort of stuff.

Why do you care? This is madness.

Just for the fun. They can give the game a 1/10, I will stay enjoy it. I didn't expect the game to beat the previous records of other games in Metacritics anyway. I just wanted to know which sites will give the game such scores and about what did they abse that. It seems some expected the game to be completely open-world.

What the hell is this "review in progress" horseshit? Sounds like a way for IGN to gauge people's reactions and then modify the score accordingly.

Had they not, just as many people would be complaining that the score was misrepresentative when the online doesn't work at launch.

Did this one get posted? I haven't seen it.

We Got This Covered - 4.5/5

With Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Naughty Dog has delivered another gorgeous, action-packed and memorable epic. Although it's kept from perfection by some pacing issues and a couple of other minor quibbles, it's a jaw dropping game that offers a lot of bang for one's buck. As such, it's something that every PlayStation 4 owner, and self-respecting gamer, should play through at least once.
