Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

This statement really can only apply to UC2 (which did go on to win GOTY) and I don't think very many people were claiming that when it pretty much redefined cinematic linear action games.

Then again, I wasn't yet a gaf member at the time, so I've no ideas what the reception here was like.

Yes, they DID claim that. Uncharted 2 didn't have the pre-hype of either 3 or 4 (many were still hung up on Drake's Fortune). And no, that can't only apply to Uncharted 2, given Uncharted 3 won plenty of awards in 2011. Bottom line, I doubt Deus Ex sees the highs of this game and just because it didn't re-invent the wheel (which it didn't need to, anyway), that doesn't mean it can't sweep GOTY awards.

What difficulty did you play on?

What difficulty did you play it on and would you recommend it? was enough challenging?

Moderate.

Difficulty levels are: Explorer, Light, Moderate, Hard, and Crushing. Crushing is unlocked this time around, no need to beat Hard first.

Moderate started to get a bit hairy in the latter chapter firefights. Not stealthing tended to be a bad idea.

If someone makes a fool of themselves they get laughed at for being a fool, simple as that. Taking videogame review scores seriously enough to go overboard on a message board is ripe for mockery. Getting salty over it only shows that you do take this shit too seriously.

I'm talking about the pre-emptive anticipation of bad review reactions. We've seen that shit for weeks on end where people are 'hurr durr grabbing popcorn' and reading the thread solely for 'the meltdowns'. It's annoying as fuck and at this point it's getting more annoying than the outraged posts themselves.

PERFECTION!

Gif of the year right here folks.

To be fair I'm more surprised the outlier of the major websites is IGN heh -- thought it'd be Polygon. Yeah 8.8 is great but on IGN's scale, that's not saying much when compared to titles of similar caliber (obviously it says great) that were reviewed on their website.

Probably one of the worst communicated code discussions I have had now in 3 years of doing this. Sony was really hymning and haying I guess. Basically now just told to sit and wait.

As much as shit as I've given you in the past, I really appreciate your review work with clever metaphors and fast talking charisma. And you aren't the only one, I have friends working in Europe that couldn't even communicate with the SCE PR for the game. I think Sony was overly worried about spoiler culture.

Ign gave it a tentative score of 8.8? What is holding back the review score?

online.

Lucy’s played through the entirety of the single-player campaign (1.5 times) but hasn’t had much luck joining into pre-release multiplayer games. Impressions below are based primarily on the beta. In order to ensure the final experience meets expectations, our review will be labeled as in progress until we’re able to test multiplayer on live servers after launch on May 10 – expect a final score shortly thereafter. But if you’re just into Uncharted for the single-player adventure, consider our review complete.]

fwiw she scored ROTR higher :)

I always like replaying the set-pieces in these games, and admiring the graphics, but I really hope I enjoy the actual combat this time around. The addition of the grappling hook and high grass for stealth is encouraging. The melee looks improved too. I'm most curious to see if the gunplay is fun this time around. TLoU's gunplay was great, so here's hoping.

Gunplay felt fantastic in the beta. Definitely up there with the best in the genre.

The story's themes surrounding family sounds way more interesting than the pirates treasure. I love these characters. Almost sad that this is the final game ;_;

Oh good. I may just do that. Although it feels like it may cause me to spend like 20+ hours on the first playthrough.

I'm sick of this culture where we prey on people's enthusiasm and hype because it makes for good "internet" fodder. Mamarobotnik has this famous wall of shame that I'm on, but honestly, a majority of those posts were from people who were genuinely suprised and non hostile. Meltdown culture and being a character is one thing, but we've had people specifically in Uncharted threads not to play the game, but to remind every one they are here to laugh and mock people. IMHO That sort of behavior is just as irresponsible and crass.

Click on the big "Uncharted 4 - A Thief's End" at the top, it should update it.

Thanks it did the trick.

I really want it to stay like this just to see a game pass the 93 MC already!

But I know IGN got a big influence on the MC and they will probably lower it back to 93, EDGE's review will do that as well.

Dont get me wrong. She is entitled to her opinion. Just found it weird.

Well, play the game first.

I always have a hard time wrapping my head around complaints about a score for a game that the public has yet to experience for themselves.

Giving a Review-in-Progress a score is a bit odd, I'll admit.

But as happens too often, you cant look at the sites average, but instead the reviewers average.

Have you played both games? I haven't, but to me Tomb Raider 2013 was of similar calibre to the UC games out at that time, though different in many ways, in ways some people may prefer. I personally thought it had better combat than any UC game, and the open world changed things quite a lot.

It's conceivable a person may prefer ROTTR over UC4.

Wait, hold up? 2011 was the year of SKYRIM.

And a lot of 9s. 'sides, it's a mere point higher on Meta. The argument is pointless.

Tis' but a joke, which I think was what the guy implied.
