Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

As for the 3rd act, I can't really say anything as I obviously haven't played that. The other criticisms seem fair for now. But that one just stood out to me, although I have heard some impressions on the other thread on people saying the setpieces are more grounded, so maybe she's right.
Considering what I've heard and seen in the third act, I think this reviewer just rushed his playthrough a bit. If you try to play a game this long in only a couple of sittings of course shit is going to meld together. This will happen with any shooter if you play it almost non-stop for 15 hours.

100%

Having been a reviewer myself in the past, game-fatigue is 100% a thing and it 100% affects how you rate games.

If you play a game in your free time, in fits and bouts, having fun with it and taking your time, you'll enjoy it as much as you can.

If you're rushing through a game during your spare time, in order to write about it, and shirking other urgent responsibilities/deadlines, the fun quickly drains away and you start getting frustrated no matter what, and you'll only enjoy it 3/4 as much as you would under a normal player's circumstances.

EDGE.

Ars Technica review in progress also seems like it can get below that.

I expect the game to end up with 93 MC.

The gunplay and mechanics are meant to be spot on, with really large scale and dynamic gameplay.

Edge are all about gameplay, so I think we'll see at least an 8/10 from them. Mix in the state of the art technology and strong writing, with a no-doubt great multiplayer mode...

Sony is
mostly
killing in 2016

Uncharted 4: 94 Meta
Alienation: 80 Meta
Ratchet & Clank: 86 Meta
MLB 16: 84 Meta
Hardware Rivals: 56 Meta
lol

You forgot Gravity Rush: Remastered (80). Yeah Sony is having a pretty good year, next up Shadow of the Beast (please be good!).

Agreed. What about Quarter to Three, does that guy even review stuff anymore? He's quite the contrarian and would be a sure bet to score the game on the lower end of the scale.

What did GameTrailers score it? :(

..

Great to see someone who realises this! MC score nowadays is heavily skewed (and less reliable therefore) by so many reviewers who do not realise this, refreshing to see (a former)one who does.

Dutch review on Gamer.nl (also affiliated with Metacritic so the score will appear on there as well) - 9/10

Small translation of the conclusion:
"A Thief's End is a fitting ending for the Uncharted-series. It combines everything that made the previous games so populair and transforms it to a long, robust, varied and personal adventure."

On a side note I'm proud of the Uncharted fans in here not bothering with a meltdown (and giving the losers who enjoy meltdowns any satisfaction) with some of the lower reviews like Jimquisition's 8.5 or IGN's potential 8.8

What would be a valid criticism to warrant a 6 or a 7? Would it come from an open world only reviewer? Based on what we've all seen and some of us have played, it seems like a master class of the genre so a low review would come from bitterness or a complete loathing of the genre, no?

(I can't wait for this to be taken the wrong way and lumped into the "lol look at all these casualties of people bitter about a low score lol" post)

Like, I'm not going to downplay the work that went into crafting an amazing sculpture just because it's of an idol I don't care for. I'm just wondering what would warrant the marks against it from a respectable and professional reviewer.

the 8.8 from IGN is throwing me off. I've read the review and it reads more like 9.0+. it mainly got counted off for not raising the bar in every facet imaginable cause Naughty Gods. don't see how this game deserves a lower score than Drake's Fortune from the looks of it.

Its not a complete review.

How does .2 throw you off? Lol

I think I will go to sleep. It is 6:50 AM here in Brazil. Totally worth it though. Felt like a mini E3 ride haha

Hope to wake up with a new Persona 5 trailer, its release date and UC4's hold at that 94 MC :)

Sony is definitely back on the case with first party after a shaky start to the generation. Good on them, good variety of games too. These are killer apps.
