Ken Levine lost my trust with Bioshock Infinite, but I don't think it was his fault. He's still one of the GOAT directors.

I think Druckmann/Straley are a cut above (due to consistency) in light of Uncharted 4.

Ken Levine set the bar for himself too high after the unbelievable E3 demo. If he didn't make it out loud I think Infinite would be more welcome

I believe after TLOU 2 & UC2, expectations from naughty dogs are bit too high. Had this game been released by someone else it would have gotten even higher score.

Just an opinion

Probably, I guess. I imagine reviewers would have been receptive to the surprise of a great game where they didn't expect it, like Arkham Asylum.

But really how much better could Uncharted 4 score?

WTF!?!?!?!?!? IGN Germany is criticizing the game for having "large and open areas".

I mean like seriously?!?!?!?

I concur. Uncharted is not a kind of game that need open areas. It can (and will) impact pacing for a lot of players.

Don't see a game on the horizon this year to challenge Uncharted 4 as an overall GOTY package. No Bloodborne or Witcher 3 level stuff in sight. Stuff like Overwatch will be great but it's only 'half' a package. The Last Guardian will probably be super interesting but with mechanics a bit all over the place. Horizon and Zelda are now 2017.

Deus Ex is the one game on my radar that could do it.

Persona 5, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Dishonored 2, The Last Guardian. Witcher 3 expansions maybe can't be GOTY but it can be better experience then any game released this year. There is still potential for GOTY games.

Amazing score but UC2 is still the one to beat it seems, can't wait to play it !! ND delivers as usual...

Uncharted 2 was ground-breaking for its time. It ushered in large action set pieces for videogames. Nothing like experiencing something for the first time.

The nice thing about ND is that they never bullshit their E3's presentations, other than maybe showcasing perfect AI scenarios like they did with TLOU, but their presentations are always fair.

I felt cheated after beating Bioshock Infinite, gameplay wise it was just a generic shooter, with better gunplay than original Bioshock but with a dumb down overall mechanics, the E3 demo seemed so amazing, like the next step for cinematic FPS.

It sounds like they really nailed the gameplay by adjusting from lots of the criticisms of the previous games. More open-eneded approaches is always a good thing in my opinion.

Not necessarily since FFXV is coming out in September which depending on its polish could really be critically acclaimed.

I played it the first time with the Nathan Drake collection and wow, I was blown away, especially after how average was the first one, my body is ready for a new Drake adventure !

And Persona 5, Gears 4 etc. Hard to tell, we haven't play it yet.

I fear this is only in my dreams. I would absolutely love it if FFXV got reviews like this, the series got me into gaming in a big way. But I just can't see it happening.

We now have the translated verdict and +/- sections of our review translated, in case anyone cares :)

On the upside
+ Visually stunning
+ An adventure with a big A
+ Perfect rhythm
+ A worthy heir of Uncharted 2
+ The final boss
+ Naughty Dog's tongue-in- cheek references
+ The length of the game
+ The photo mode
+ Too many other positives to list them all+ Visually stunning

lol

Nah, none of those

GOTY doesn't always go to the highest MC, MGS5 last year was pretty much ignored, TW3 took all the GOTY awards, the same for 2013- TLOU murdered the higher ranked GTA5.

But, U4 will be the highest ranking game this year even if it drops to 93, that's almost a certain unless something really unexpected happens with the later released titles (like TLG being really amazing), but it doesn't mean it will take the GOTY as well.

No Man's Sky has a potential to be very special. Could be another GotY for me. Depends on just how much they're keeping secret/vested.

(There's a lot more info out there about how it plays and how it progresses than people realise. You need to read text previews to get to it.)
