Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

That is the point though. for a big site IGN, review score shouldn't be based on one person opinion ( or any big site for that matter, I mean the whole point of this thread after all is to collect reviews on the game for us to judge / decide on purchasing the game or later etc.

if 2 or 3 people played the game at IGN and they all agreed on that score, then yeah its fair.

This goes both ways too. I don't believe a game should deserve a perfect score either. if gamespot gave the game a 10 now, few months later Naughty Dogs enhance the graphics even more ( just an example), what it will be scored then ? 10.5 out of 10 ?

Outlets tend to have the hive mind mentality. When was the last time any game in ign for example won goty after scoring less than 9. They tend to always agree with the reviewer of their site more often than not.

I'm trying to stop myself watching reviews, it's so hard with these amazing scores.... I need to finish UC3 before Tuesday: let's do this PS4!!

They are. They are third person action games, which is a genre.

Who cares that they're different? What's the point in comparing something that is totally the same?

It's only natural that people would care since comparing games from the same genre, that play the same, for the most part, makes more sense. While both games don't fall under entirely different genres, they play quite differently.

It's made up bullshit semantics for people to say "you can't compare these two games!" You can compare any damned thing you want, especially if you're wanting to say "I don't like Team X's new game compared to their previous one"

Well, whether you think it's semantics or not has nothing to do with the fact that both games aren't the same. If you want to filed them both under TPS then go ahead, but it doesn't make the games similar in gameplay or tone. I don't think I need to point out the glaring differences in design for you to understand. You can compare whatever the hell you want, btw... It just doesn't make it a good comparison by default.

"It never had the same ambition story wise". Are you kidding me? Did you read interviews where they talked all about how they wanted to make the story better than ever? They had ambition for it.

I am not yet convinced the gameplay is all better than TLOU. I am at Chapter 12 and while it's the best uncharted gameplay mechanics overall (most refined in series), I enjoyed TLOU's campaign more so far at this point, with both story, pacing and gameplay.

Making the story better does not mean they want to make like TLOU.
Which is something the said more than once .
As for gameplay that really going to depend on the person .
Since you playing you should know gameplay wise they very different .

Witcher3 = 92
BB = 92
MGS5 = 93
Smash = 92
I think Mario 3d world is at 93
i think that's him!!!
That person was me, but the chart actually didn't have 94 for UC4. :)

I made that in anticipation of UC4 review thread, to see if Bruce Straley can deliver a hat-trick of 3 universally acclaimed games.

After all, one is a fluke, twice a coincidence, thrice a trend.

Updated, and finally it can be said that Bruce Straley is unquestionably one of the best game directors in the business today.

ohhhh so it was you! and yeah, this guy, this...and naughty dog...and uncharted, and playstation

this is history here

It's an Easter egg. I'd be shocked if it has anything to do with the story at all. Something you probably find somewhere and say "wow, neat".

Now, instead of saying " wow, neat" I'm gong to say "OK, there's that thing I heard about." Would've been cool to discover it.

That's the thing. Some folk want the bolded above all else. Myself included, to an extent.

When posting a potential spoiler make sure you hedge it with a bracketed explanation. Like "Metro just wrote about (opening section easter egg spoiler) XXX".

who was that gaffer that made that chart with

Uc2: 96
tlou: 95
Uc4: 94

he was fucking right. i wish i quoted him when i had the chance

these threads move way too fast

It will probably go down considering the odds. We still have like 40 possible reviews yet to be counted.

Ain't no way I'm readin' that. Close call.

Better safe than sorry, folks

Stay away from any and all slightly potential spoiler business

I was avoiding spoilers like the plague then got that easter egg spoiled in a completely unrelated thread. It's not a big deal, just would have been a nice surprise.

Why not? it's on Ps4 and XB1. The current gen.

If people are including TPP which is also on last gen as well as current, why not GTA?
It's in the same vein as a remaster. And TPP is not the same, as it released on current and previous gen at the same time.

Anyone saying UC4 mechanics are same level or better then MGS 5 better have some receipts on launch day because I personally can't see an uncharted game doing it better.

Well see on Tuesday tho

What does that matter? It's effectively just a remastered version on the current gen. Nothing is different bar the resolution and textures. it's EXACTLY the same game.

This forum really confuses me sometimes with it's constant moving of goalposts.

Welp, I guess that with people waking up it was only a matter of time. We have our first thread pushing MS to invest in new studios, rapidly followed by theories of MS buying ND in the very same thread.

Congrats to Naughty Gods on another stellar production. Wish I didn't have to wait till mid June to play it :)

How is this moving goalposts? It's a remaster of a game from the previous generation, and your second to last sentence only adds to that point.

Remasters don't count as current gen. This is nothing new.

Amazing scores!! Cannot fucking wait holy shit guys the latest Naughty Dog game is just a few days away!!!
Feels like just yesterday TLOU released.

So for someone who hasn't followed the series all that much.. is there a summary of 1-3 that I can read/watch somewhere so that I can dive in on this?

YouTube I'm sure as all cinematics up, you are going to miss a lot tho. I would advise playing the collection.

Nate seeks treasure, jumps off exploding things, has a girlfriend named Elena and a mentor named Sully. Now dive!

They don't have to be the same to make a comparison. George Bush and Obama are different people from different political parties and different personalities and I can still compare the effect they had on me. It is completely normal to analyze two things and see what differences and similarities they have, and interpret which is better based off of that. It's called a "compare and contrast" essay and it's taught from elementary school where you could be asked to compare two children's books up to university writing where you could be asked to compare two philosophers or business plans. To put it simply, to draw a comparison between two things, they don't have to be the same, they can have differences, and it seems you never learned this.

Believe it or not, TLOU and U4 have obvious differences AND similarities in gameplay and tone that can be compared, and they're made by the same team and studio and have plenty of similarities to analyze. If you want to dismiss that just because YOU think it's unfair, then by all means, but that is ridiculous. You're drawing an arbitrary line on what you think can warrant a comparison to U4.

Making the story better does not mean they want to make like TLOU.

They don't have to be the same type of story for me to point out flaws in one or the other and say which one I liked better.

The gameplay is different but has similarities and I can point out flaws in one versus the other and say which one I enjoyed more.
