Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

IIRC, There's an interview with Evan Wells where he said they have 2 projects other than TLOU Remastered on PS4. One of them is Uncharted 4 and the 3rd project is yet to be announced.

Yes thats the game i mentioned about pre production. The huge majority of the studio has been working on UC4 for years now while a small team does some work on that other game. That game is no where close to being released. Unless i am very much mistaken which i would love to be. Because even with the huge growth in numbers ND had they still cant handle more than a full production of one AAA game with the production values of UC4 at the same time.

Those nitpicks are in no way significant enough for me to consider A Thief’s End as anything but the best entry in the Uncharted franchise, though. It’s not even just the best Uncharted game. This is one of the most fully-realized action campaigns of all time, and it sets a new bar of quality for what’s possible in the genre.

Glorious.

What about Jeff? :)

I will crack up at the 8.8.

Tenth scales are disingenuous when they flirt with the next whole number. Aways have been and always will be if there is no longer an averaging system to back it up.

OK but what's that have to do with what she gave rottr?

To add to the discussion with the Lamp. I'm pretty sure that only really applies to a few levels. Most of the levels aren't really designed to be as open as the one we've seen in the official media.

This is true. Some of the chapters are just long in this game though, so one of these sections could last you anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on how obsessively you explore, and that can leave you with variable impressions on the game's pacing for that chapter.

Hmmm, I felt TLoUs was pretty linear with some small sandboxes...Infact very much like the open level shown in U4...It certainly had a different atmosphere, which ramped up the tension. I definitely don't feel it had a greater sense of discovery than the Uncharted games. Probably the opposite.

Because it is a draw of comparison depending on what will be written. You are allowed as a reader, to compare to see if things line up to see if one should be a trusted source.

As in, one being hindered for something the exact other does (but is not), and vice/versa. So if it remains an 8.8, I am looking forward to reading why, this game is not as good as the 9.3 one in a similar genre. You still have to back up your opinions.

Reviewers are gamers, they are not infallible, and we know how gamers are. ;)

So you already know you're going to "die laughing" because she likes rottr better despite apparently not knowing what her reasons are.

I mean it'd be cool if he likes.it but the likelihood is pretty low IMO. His (completely valid) thoughts on the series are well known.
Jeff has a great perspective on things, but ultimately, I feel like he clicks best with games that are openly dumb. When games take themselves seriously, he seems to not be very interested.

Blame IGN for their 'if we had to score it now' BS.

Having played RotTR, none of the reviews I have been reading about this, even come close to anything that was said, or I felt in RotTR. So I am allowed to laugh, yes. Why do you care so much, on what I can find amusing?

You have never questions a reviewer, ever? Let us talk about that if so.

IGN's 8.8 is the complete scoring for the single player portion. The reviewer was not as impressed with the story and single player as much as ROTTR. Unless she falls in love with the MP, the score will remain the same. Apparently she was considering scoring it in the low 80s but said "would be a disservice."

tbh i'm still waiting for a game that makes me want to explore for the sake of exploration. not for a reward. i find games are either not interesting enough to warrant it, or because of their loot focus that same loot tends to be the sole reasons to explore (see bethesda games etc).

it would be nice if uncharted 4 was the first game i've played to make me go "oh, that over there looks cool, i wonder what it is" with no expectations of riches or rewards. but i won't hold my breath...no other game has managed it, so i doubt a largely linear pulp adventure game will. and that's no slight against uncharted 4 either. just an expected element of gaming at this point.

Do you game much on PC because there are ton's of games that are solely focused on exploration for exploration's sake. I mean some do have other systems on top of that where you collect items and such but I mean does that "ruin" the exploration aspect if you also collect stuff if you feel like it? I mean you'd probably love No Man's Sky but it still has you collecting and doing those kind of tasks but the idea of the game focuses on exploring a fully realized proceduraly generated galaxy.

It's at 8.8 right now, if she likes the multiplayer, it's not a massive leap to round it up to 9. It's just a guess. Are you thinking lower or higher?

She's already played mp, all that's left is setting how well the game works with everyone playing. The temp score system is stupid, 8.8 is essentially final only possibility it changes is if the servers suck, which will drop a point or 2, which ultimately would o back up to 8.8 when the issue was fixed.

System likely in place for things like driveclub or master chief collection.

Let's predict the final IGN score and the Edge score!
If IGN is serious about their Review in Progress scores, I highly doubt anything can change 8.8. If they are going to bump it up, they will be considered as joke and people will assume that backlash of 8.8 was the reason for higher mark.

Eh i'm pretty sure all she's played was the beta and a handful of matches when she was able to get in but definitely not enough to make a confident evaluation.

I don't think a person choosing to explore hurts pacing. If the game isnt funneling you effectively as to where to go, then that would cause an issue with pacing. But chapter 11 (or 10? The one in official media) for example, you can't really get lost. Maybe you'll explore one or two areas you didn't intend to on your first play through, but that's it.

This is Chloe? And the person in that gif, too?

I would have never known if someone didn't tell me. That nose...

EDIT: Looking at it again, there's no way this is Chloe.

That is multiplayer Chloe. And do not let the shadows fool you... it may look better (maybe not by much) with other angles and lighting.

hmm that is an interesting review by IGN. Seems like the biggest complaint is because the third act of the game is too long, which is strange, but maybe it got too repetitive for her. Overall though a 94 on metacritic, which is outstanding.

Was surprised at first by the GB score but then saw it was Dan.

I bet Brad and Jeff act meh about it.

So what you are saying is...

'Video games are meh' - Brad and Jeff

(I only joke about this because I see this a lot about these two in every review thread, lol.)
