These scores are something to behold. I love me some singleplayer massive titles like this and hope to see more not less in the future. Which hasn't always felt like a sure thing.

Question because i didnt read it yet but why is igns score not final yet and sitting at a 8.8 for now? Is it because they want to try multiplayer

Blame IGN for their 'if we had to score it now' BS.

Having played RotTR, none of the reviews I have been reading about this, even come close to anything that was said, or I felt in RotTR. So I am allowed to laugh, yes. Why do you care so much, on what I can find amusing?

Just says a lot when your throwing out a review because one game scored higher than another. Especially when according to your own admittance you haven't read either review.

This is true. Some of the chapters are just long in this game though, so one of these sections could last you anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on how obsessively you explore, and that can leave you with variable impressions on the game's pacing for that chapter.

Hey man, you've been playing for some days now, right?

Have you finished it yet?

You are putting words into my mouth.

I said I am going to read and draw the comparisons. I never once said 'throw it out', but I can laugh and disagree with some complaints if they do not jive with one another after reading and playing.

Again, have you not once ever questioned a reviewer? This is all a part of finding a trusted one, and weeding out the fickle, which there are a lot out there in all hobbies, etc..

IGN's 8.8 is the complete scoring for the single player portion. The reviewer was not as impressed with the story and single player as much as ROTTR. Unless she falls in love with the MP, the score will remain the same. Apparently she was considering scoring it in the low 80s but said "would be a disservice."

I won't be surprised when if I play both and strongly disagree with her based on my experience, with Tomb Raider (2013) (a great game), the entire Uncharted series, and the U4 MP beta, and impressions from both U4 and RotR.

Were there any other reviewers that have compared U4 to RotR and were in favor of the latter?

Another ten.

And another ten.

And another ten.

that's fine if you don't care about the story but UC is a primarily story driven game and Naughty Dog has become known for great stories...

of course the story should be finished before reviewing the game

Thought the IGN reviewer had finished the game? She's just waiting on multiplayer stuff.

According to this article (from 2013) http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/189448/Metacritics_weighting_system_revealed.php

Giant Bomb is of the lower influence of big sites. For comparison IGN has a 2.0 weight (the highest) while GB has a 0.5 (0.25 lowest)

But metacritic have rubbished that article as its states in the very first paragraph.

[Update: Metacritic has responded to the study, claiming that the information is "wildly, wholly inaccurate." The full statement can be found on Facebook.]

Anyway back on topic. Fantastic score across the board, Naughty Dog just keep on delivering time and again, amazing work. I could snag myself a retail copy on Saturday but it will be a bit overpriced. Dunno wether to get it or wait the 2 extra days for the cheaper digital version. Arggggh decisions, decisions.

Druckmann is also a wrestler?

What caught my eye is the referee has taken part in matches such as a 200 light tube match, a razor-chair and syringe-bed match, light tube log cabins, sheets of glass and a barbed wire circus death match (a barbed wire net from corner to corner) to name a few. Guy's insane, or atleast used to be.

On topic, I can't wait to play Uncharted at a friend's place really soon!

One interesting thing about reviews is that you can disagree in parts even with the "perfect" ones.

Dan says in his review that he finds the MP only serviceable but largely forgettable. Personally i think that the MP is great, it offers something different from other TPS and is very polished.

TLOU is not even better than UC2 in my opinion so I doubt it will be better than UC4.

UC2's level design and sheer encounter variety just decimates TLOU. TLOU is great mechanically with what it is trying to achieve but ultimately is let down by repetitive encounters in flat areas. I was always expecting the unexpected in UC2 with regards to gameplay whereas in TLOU it always seemed to be asking the player to expect the unexpected in story which is where the key difference lies. There were some memorable encounters here and there ( parts of the winter section and the superbly designed and creepy basement level for example, did like the library section as well ) but by and large the encounter variety was sorely lacking.

Not to mention the phenomenal pacing of UC2. There is not an action game I have played baring resident evil 4 in all my years of gaming that has better pacing then UC2. It is an absolute masterclass to every developer out there on how to handle the crests and the troughs in an action game. Chapter 16 of UC2 just solidifies the masterly pacing that the game had.

Ultimately they are very different games but I still think there are certain elements that we can compare like level design, mechanics, encounter variety etc.. just like we compare any other games to each other all the time.

Damn, they fucked Chloe up.

Though, I recall all the models had fucked up noses in the beta menus -- especially Elena and Marlowe, so...

And that chloewerkinit.gif just shows how much Donut Drake is needed!

Can I see the completely lit side, lol?

Vaguely reminds me of Ellaria Sand.

There's not much to go on in the stream, the character goes through the same animation loop that lasts about 10 seconds and she only looks straight ahead very briefly. The rest is looking slightly to the side like the first image I posted.

3 new tens added to the OP.

I was pretty sure Dan would give it a 5.

If EDGE gives this a 10, I think 94 it will stay at 94, might even climb to 95.

Ah, ok. I will have to wait until Tuesday. Thanks!

Man, I feel like he slipped a lot this gen, not talking about this latest review (even though he mentioned the retarded killer Drake thing) but in general, too many times I shake my head after playing some of the games he reviewed (for better or worse), I feel like I'm not aligned with him AT ALL.

Oh well.

(I want to emphasize that this doesn't take anything from him as an entertainer or as someone that I value his opinion on various topics related to the gaming industry, but yeah as a reviewer I feel like he is off for too long)

Sterling only really came on my radar in the last 6-12 months and honestly I disagree with pretty much everything he says.

Not vehemently, mind you. And I still like him - I think he's articulate and a general force for good. I just take issue with all of his opinions; enough to make me go "no. This guy doesn't get it."

I mean... You said you were going to die laughing before having drawn said comparisons. You can definitely disagree with some complaints but its clear you had made up your mind before comparing.
